MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING PARTNER SENT TO 5-DAY POLICE CUSTODY

New Delhi: A local court on Wednesday sent a man accused of killing his live-in partner and stuffing her body into a fridge in southwest Delhi to five-day police custody for interrogation. Sahil Gehlot, 24, a resident of Mitraon village in southwest Delhi, killed his partner, stuffed her body inside a refrigerator at his dhaba, and went off to marry another woman on the same day. Court granted the police his custody for five days to interrogate him and ascertain the exact scene of the murder.

Goswami was allegedly assaulted by BJP workers at Dhamnagar. Some of the attackers allegedly include elected BJP councillors.

Goswami, herself a senior BJP leader, said around 200 women and men attacked her when she went to meet a neighbour. “I was injured in the attack. The attackers tore my saree and other clothing. The police also did not help me despite several phone calls,” she said.

SUPREME COURT TO HEAR PIL FOR FRAMING MENSTRUAL LEAVES RULE ON FEBRUARY 24

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to all the state governments to frame rules for menstrual pain leaves to female students and working-class women at their respective workplaces and the compliance of section 14 of the Maternity Benefit Act 1961. A bench posted the matter for hearing on February 24 after advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi mentioned the matter and sought an early hearing of the case.

ADANI ROW: SC TO HEAR FRESH PIL ON FEBRUARY 17

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear on February 17 a fresh plea of a Congress leader seeking investigation under the supervision of a sitting apex court judge against the Adani Group of companies in light of the allegations made by the US-based Hindenburg Research. A bench took note of the submissions of a lawyer, representing Congress leader Jaya Thakur, that the plea needed urgent hearing.
