Mercury dips as Mum region sees heavy unseasonal rains

Mumbai: A spell of heavy showers in Mumbai and satellite cities such as Thane, MiraBhayander, and VasaiVirar on Tuesday morning brought down the temperature.

The India Meteorological Department attributed the heavy unseasonal rains to westerly winds and moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea.
The Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 20.6 °C and Santacruz observatory recorded 21.2 °C—a departure of 2.6 °C and 0.3 °C, respectively—from the normal.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that some parts of Mumbai city and suburbs recorded up to 20-25mm of rain between 7 am and 8 am.
