About the Artists Born in Oslo, Norway, Julie Coucheron has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree with honors from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Coucheron has established an international career, winning major awards in Italy, Germany, UK, and the United States. She has worked with musicians such as Emanuel Ax, Chee-Yun Kim, Christopher O’Riley, and Yo-Yo Ma, and has toured Europe, America, South America, and Asia, performing in halls including Verizon Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. Coucheron has performed with the Norwegian Radio Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, Jena Symphony, and the Ukrainian Symphony in Kiev. She regularly performs at festivals such as the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Bergen International Music Festival, Highlands-Cashiers, and La Jolla Summer Fest. She is artistic director of the Fjord Cadenza festival in Norway and for the Kon Tiki Chamber Music Festival in Oslo. Coucheron enjoys a close collaboration with her brother David, concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony, and together they have released two recordings, Debut and David and Julie on the Naxos label. In addition to her busy concert schedule, Coucheron is a sought-after teacher. In August 2014, she was appointed assistant professor at Kennesaw State University. Coucheron has given master classes and taught at schools including the New England Conservatory, Emory University, and Mercer University. She enjoys a various and wide range of styles and repertoire emerging from her highly trained classical background to the more contemporary and popular music. Recent collaborations include performances with the Steve Miller Band and Elton John. Helen Hwaya Kim made her orchestral debut with the Calgary Philharmonic at the age of six, and has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Pops at Boston’s Symphony Hall, as well as with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Symphonies. Ms. Kim earned her Bachelor and Master's Degree from Juilliard, where her teachers included Cho-Liang Lin and Dorothy DeLay. While at Juilliard, she served as Concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra and was the winner of the Juilliard Concerto Competition at both the Pre–College and College levels. She is the recipient of more than one hundred national and international awards. She won the prestigious Artists International Competition in New York and, as a result, gave debut recitals at Carnegie Weill Hall and the Aspen Summer Music Festival. A native of Canada, Ms. Kim has been engaged by many of Canada's leading orchestras, including the National Arts Center Orchestra, Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, McGill Chamber Orchestra, and the Windsor, Regina, Victoria and Prince George Symphonies. She has also appeared with the DeKalb, New Orleans, Aspen and Banff Festival Orchestras, and with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland. Ms. Kim has been profiled on national and international television and has appeared on CBC, PBS and CBS networks. Her performances have been aired on NPR and CBC radio networks. She has toured extensively throughout Canada and the United States, including performances at Alice Tully Hall and the Santa Fe and La Jolla International Music Festivals, where she performed with Cho-Liang Lin, Gary Hoffman, Andre Previn, and the Orion String Quartet. She performed Bach’s Double violin concerto with Hilary Hahn at the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. Other festival highlights include performances at the Highlands-Cashiers, Banff, Zenith and Sitka International Chamber Music Festivals. An avid performer of new music, she can be heard on the recent CD release of the works of Alvin Singleton on Albany records. Helen performed the world premiere of the “Concertino” by Chen Yi, scored for solo violin and orchestra that was commissioned especially for her and the KSU Orchestra and was recently released by Centaur. Ms. Kim resides in Atlanta, where she served as Assistant and Associate Concertmaster for the Atlanta Symphony for three seasons. She is currently the Assistant Concertmaster of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and recently joined the roster of the Atlanta Chamber Players and is Professor of Violin at Kennesaw State University.


About the Artists Cellist Charae Krueger is Principal Cellist for the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. She is the Cello Artist-In-Residence at Kennesaw State University and performs with the Summit Piano Trio and KSU Faculty String Trio. Ms. Krueger enjoys chamber music and solo recital work and plays throughout the Southeastern U.S. She is a regular featured artist at The HighlandsCashiers Chamber Music Festival, the Grand Teton Music Festival and at the North Georgia Chamber Music Festival. Her solo and chamber music recitals have been featured on NPR's Performance Today, WABE Radio Atlanta and WGBH Radio Boston. She also plays frequently with the Atlanta Symphony. Ms. Krueger also enjoys recording studio work and has played on albums of Bruce Springsteen, Faith Hill and Natalie Cole. Recent concerts include performances with violinists William Preucil and Tim Fain, concerts at the North Georgia Chamber Music Festival, Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta, with SO Percussion Ensemble, appearances with Sonic Generator, Atlanta Chamber Players, and Fringe concert series, as well as concerto performances with the DeKalb Symphony, Atlanta Community Orchestra, and the KSU Orchestra. She has twice performed the entire Beethoven cycle of Cello Sonatas with pianist Robert Henry and has done a recital tour and accompanying live CD of the Southeastern US with pianist Stanley Yerlow. Ms. Krueger received her early cello training in Canada at the Regina Conservatory of Music. She went on to study at Brandon University and received her Bachelor of Music Performance degree from New England Conservatory. She also holds an Artist Diploma from the Longy School of Music. She continued her training during the summers at the Banff Centre in Canada and did quartet training with the Juilliard Quartet at the summer program at the Juilliard School. Ms. Krueger was also a participant in the New York String Orchestra Seminar under the direction of Alexander Schneider with concerts at Carnegie Hall. Described as “nothing short of dazzling” and playing “with impeccable bowing and intonation” by South Florida Classical Review, Atlanta-born Margeaux Maloney currently holds the Associate Concertmaster position in the Reno Chamber Orchestra and performs as a substitute musician with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Kansas City Symphony and Charleston Symphony. Ms. Maloney began studying the violin at age five and had her first concerto performance at age nine. She earned her bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Lewis Kaplan and a graduate certificate at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music with Martin Chalifour. Ms. Maloney has participated in summer music festivals since age seven, including Music Academy of the West, National Repertory Orchestra, Pacific Music Festival, Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival, MusicAlp International Academy of Music, Centre d’arts Orford, Heifetz International Music Institute, Madeline Island Music Camp and Meadowmount School of Music. She has performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara and Tokyo Suntory Hall. As an avid chamber musician, she has performed alongside members of the Tokyo String Quartet and Eroica Trio, and has been coached by members of the Cleveland and Juilliard quartets. Outside of music, Ms. Maloney is passionate about photography, dancing, traveling, crossword/ jigsaw puzzles and hopes to one day climb Mt. Fuji and hike the Pacific Crest Trail.


About the Artists Pianist, Artistic Director, master teacher, editor and judge for international competitions, William Ransom appears around the world as soloist with orchestras, recitalist and chamber musician. His performances have been broadcast on National Public Radio and Television in the US, Argentina, Poland and Japan. He regularly collaborates with musicians including Yo-Yo Ma, Richard Stoltzman, William Preucil, Stephen Isserlis, Robert McDuffie, and members of the Tokyo, Cleveland, Juilliard, American, St. Petersburg, Borromeo, Parker, Ariel and Lark String Quartets; the Empire Brass Quintet, Eroica Trio, and the percussion group Nexus among others. As a master teacher, he also performs and gives master classes at numerous schools of music and universities around the world. He has recorded for ACA Digital and Rising Star Records. Ransom is the Mary Emerson Professor of Piano at Emory University in Atlanta and founder and Artistic Director of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the University of Michigan, in the summers, Ransom is Artistic Director of the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival in North Carolina and for a decade was an artist-faculty member at the Kamisaibara Pianists Camp in Japan. In 2016 he was named Artistic Director of the Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival and also one of Musical America Worldwide’s “30 Musical Innovators”.
