Peace, Love & So Much More!

Bethel Woods envisions a world made better through the power of music and the arts.

BETHEL WOODS CENTER FOR THE ARTS held its first performance in 2006, but our musical legacy dates back to 1969. Nixon was in the White House, war raged in Vietnam, the Stonewall Riots marked the beginning of the gay rights movement, and with one small step Neil Armstrong took a giant leap for mankind.

That August, half a million young people journeyed to a dairy farm in Bethel, New York, and together with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana, and dozens of other notable and emerging artists, created one of the most legendary moments in music history—The Woodstock Music & Art Fair. Today, the nonprofit Bethel Woods is committed to building upon its rich history of peace and music by providing extraordinary experiences and access to the arts. With the belief that the world can be made better through the power of music and the arts, Bethel Woods makes music, visual, performing, and creative arts programming available and accessible to the community, helping people of all ages discover their creative potential.

Located 90 miles north of New York City, the lush 1,000-acre campus includes the Pavilion amphitheater with seating for 16,000, an intimate 422-seat indoor Event Gallery, a 3,000-person general admission Horizon Stage, festival capacity of 30,000, Conservatory and Studios for arts education programming, and a 528-site Campground. The award-winning Museum at Bethel Woods carries on the history, spirit, and learnings of the 1960s and Woodstock through the preservation and interpretation of the historic site. From our audience members, to the students in our education programs, to the performers who grace our stages, the Bethel Woods

Music & Arts Education

As a nonprofit, revenue from concerts and festivals, combined with donations, sponsorships, and grants, enable Bethel Woods to offer low or no-cost educational and community programs that serve nearly 30,000 children and families annually. A conservatory, recording studio, creative arts hall, practice spaces, emerging artist stage, and family performance pavilion help connect professionals with young people, inspiring the next generation of artists and performers.

THE MUSEUM AT BETHEL WOODS

The award-winning Museum explores the 1960s, while also preserving the legacy of its culminating event, the Woodstock festival. It is a celebration of the music, the memories, the spirit of peace, love, and community, but also an exploration of a decade of radical cultural and political transformation.

CAMPING

In 2024, Bethel Woods opened The Campground as a way for guests to extend their stay and elevate their concert experience, making it the ideal location for multi-day festivals and back-to-back shows. The Campground at Bethel Woods has over 500 sites, expandable to 2,500+ for festivals, and offers two camping locations. Pavilion Camping features in-venue glamping and premier tent sites, steps away from the main stage; Historic Camping, on the original 1969 camping sites, has spaces for RVs and cars—providing a legendary location with modern amenities.

In addition to a camp store, food service, picnic tables, fire pits, and game areas—including a Woodstock historically-focused disc golf course, there are communal areas for live music—perfect for anything from acoustic singalongs to post-show entertainment.
