ESTABLISHING ROOTS FOR A LIFETIME LOVE OF LEARNING

In Beechwood’s Pre-Prep Department, a haven of happiness, discovery and imagination, pupils enjoy a purposeful, multi-sensory curriculum full of immersive learning opportunities which stimulate their curiosity. The colourful classrooms are buzzing with the sounds of joyful, engaged learners. Whether they are recreating a coronation, practising French, investigating space, handling Buddhist artefacts or painting a mural, pupils from Nursery to Y2 enjoy a curriculum that combines child-initiated learning with adultled activities. The wide variety of stimulating, engaging experiences ensure that pupils have every opportunity to explore, create and develop.

Small class sizes and excellent staff: pupil ratios enable a flexible approach to learning and teaching. Every child’s learning style is considered; no-one is left behind, no-one is held back. Pupils make exceptional progress in core subjects; academic expectations are high, but not at the expense of creative and physical pursuits; pupils benefit from specialist teaching in French, PE, Drama/Dance, and Music.

Forest School, where children experience the natural environment, provides opportunities for creative exploration under the guidance of a specialist Forest School Leader. The children eagerly take (appropriate) risks, building confidence and self-esteem whilst learning to appreciate the moment and their surroundings.
