CONJUGATED LINOLEIC ACID (CLA) CLA is a naturally occurring constituent (isomers) of fat found in ruminant (cud chewing animals) milk, milk proteins and meats. It is one of two essential fatty acids (omega 6) required in the diet as a source of unsaturated fat. Since the mid 90s, CLA supplementation has become increasingly more popular as it has been shown to reduce body fat by stimulating the lipase enzymes (these release fat from fat cells) and suppressing the lipoprotein lipase enzymes (these transport fat into fat cells for storage). Nutrition research (Wingham 2007) has demonstrated that a dose of 3.2g per day produced a loss in body fat, with fat loss occurring from as little 1.8g consumed per day (Thom et al., 2001). In addition, a study by Pinkoski et al 2006, found an increase in strength and lean muscle mass occurred when combined with resistance training over a 7 week period. Among the 28 possible isomers (chemical compounds) that make up CLA, only the cis-9, trans-11 and the trans-10, cis-12 isomers have been extensively researched and tested to be used within supplementation, hence all are included with CLA-1000.
VITAMIN E
High-quality CLA CLA 1000 contains CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) which is a natural unsaturated fatty acid that cannot be produced by the body. It can be obtained in small amounts by consuming beef and dairy products, with kangaroo meat having one of the highest levels. CLA can also be consumed through supplementation, which are usually made with either sunflower or safflower oil. The safflower is a thistle like plant cultivated for vegetable oil which is extracted from the plant seeds. Anyone wishing to increase lean muscle definition or increase muscle size while minimising fat added, should consider adding CLA-1000 capsules to the diet.
Vitamin E is a fat soluble antioxidant found in foods like almonds and hazelnuts, which protects bodily cells from the damaging free radicals forming reactive oxygen species (ROS), when fat undergoes oxidation. During exercise there is a significant rise in free radicals and possible ROS formation due to the increase in energy production (Park et al., 2013). For the non exerciser the RDA for Vitamin E is 15mg per day, although the tolerable upper intake level is 1000mg per day, for both men and women. Vitamin E has been added to CLA-1000 to preserve its purity and potency.
RECOMMENDED USE You can take between 3-6 caps per day according to your requirements, split evenly across the day, for example with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
