INIP CPNM – First Personalized Nanomedicine Symposium at FIU
1
Mission The mission of INIP is to develop and sustain a program of translational research and training in drug use/abuse, tobacco use and HIV/AIDS. The Institute aims to promote interdisciplinary translational research focusing on the interactions of the human immune system, substance use/abuse, tobacco use, HIV infection, cancer and nanotechnology-based drug targeting. CPNM is a research center at the Institute of NeuroImmune Pharmacology within the Department of Immunology at FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. The CPNM focuses on current applications of nanotechnology in personalized medicine. This includes reconstructive surgery, targeted therapy, the latest research on nanodevices, drug development and delivery, the use of microelectronics and high precision lithography for the production of nanocomposites for personalized medical use. The Center involves researchers at FIU and across the globe. The CPNM’s main partners include the University of California, Emory University, Miami Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Baptist Hospital. The Center’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Defense (DoD) and other state, federal and private foundations.
