April 2024 MEMBER NEWSLETTER
FROMTHEINTERIMGENERALMANAGER A Message
What happened to March? As my Grandma would tell me “The days are long and the years are short” and what a true statement that is. March literally flew by and taking over the tasks as interim General Manager has added excitement to my days. As I fill this temporary seat, I feel responsible for ensuring the membership, associates and the organizational processes are positioned for great success and I am focused on cultivating a positive and memorable Club atmosphere for all to enjoy. The search for a new General Manager began last week and I will continue to keep you posted as we make our way through the selection process. All Stars only need to apply.
The team has been incredibly busy in our dining rooms and on the coursed (thank you Mother Nature) and as we look ahead, the calendar is filled with more engaging opportunities for our members to enjoy. This weekend we will welcome the Easter Bunny as we celebrate the season with our Annual Egg Hunt on Saturday and a to-capacity brunch on Sunday. April will be filled with a Ladies ONLY Wine Night, BINGO!, Complete and Putter Madness and more. Tis the season for fun at Loch Lloyd and we encourage all of our members to join us for an event (or three).
We are in a fortunate position as we continue to see the popularity of our Club increase. The team is working diligently to ensure we facilitate operational excellence and superior service during this time of growth and are making instant modifications to ensure we are “up to par” for you all. A few of these changes include the addition of 15 golf carts to our fleet, the expansion of food & beverage options on the course, the crafting of new menus, and trust me when I say there are more visible changes to come in the very near future.
The season isn’t the only thing changing at Loch Lloyd and we are thrilled for the future ahead. HOPPY EASTER to you and yours!

Hanna, Director of GolfSpring is in the air… trees are blooming, lawns are getting greener, baseball’s back and let’s not forget about the Masters. April is typically the month where golf starts to pick up here at Loch Lloyd as well, although beautiful late winter and early spring weather gave us an earlier jumpstart to the golfing season than earlier than normal. Many of you will kick the dust of your clubs and our “snowbirds” start returning, bringing more action to the club as the month advances
If you haven’t already done so, It’s time to sign up for this year’s Buyers Advantage Club membership. Your $200 investment goes straight to your credit book, and you begin the instant savings 10% off all hard goods, 20% off apparel and a one-time 25% off apparel only purchase It pays to be a Buyers Advantage Club member! Don’t forget, the golf shop matches all prices and already has the lowest golf ball pricing in the area.
As we start to slowly warm up and more people start playing golf again, please respect your fellow members and the golf course itself by pairing up on golf carts. Pairing up puts far less stress on the golf course because cart traffic is minimized and believe it or not, pairing up also helps control pace of play Please keep the following simple rules regarding carts in mind Twosomes should share a cart, threesomes should have no more than two carts, Foursomes should have no more than two carts and fivesomes should have no more than three carts. While playing golf be sure to repair your ball marks on the greens, fill divots on tee boxes and fairways, rake bunkers and respect all cart rules for the day
HIGHLAND GAME- MASTERS EDITION
All members are invited to join us on Saturday, April 13th for a great day of golf on “Moving Day” at the Masters. This is a unique and fun way to enjoy a round of golf, no matter what time of the day you are playing Everyone that participates will play their own ball Here is the fun part Before playing each participant will choose a professional player in the Masters and combine his Sunday score with your Saturday Net score. Those two combined scores will be your final tournament score. Flights will be determined by which set of tees you play. Winners will be announced Tuesday morning and Golf Shop credits will be applied to your account. The cost of the event is $20, and all payouts will be applied to your golf shop credit book.

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT Grant Suderman
Spring has officially arrived as we have started the transition into regular mowing of the golf course.
The past few winter months served as a great opportunity for the golf course maintenance team to enhance the golf experience through course enhancement projects. Installing fairway drainage to all of the zoysiagrass fairways was an area of emphasis this winter season. The GCM team appreciates the support that many members have shown by stopping by and thanking them for their efforts. These short-term disruptions to golf will provide long-term solutions and provide better conditions for our members.
MAINTENANCE UPDATE
The Loch Lloyd golf maintenance team continued installing drainage to zoysiagrass fairways to eliminate turf decline and provide more consistent playability. This drainage will promote water percolation therefore drying up historically saturated areas. This in turn will eliminate the persistent need for roped off areas while promoting more consistent traffic throughout the course. To date drainage has been installed on holes #1,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,12,14,17 & 18 with holes #15,16 left to complete the project. The golf hole or area being worked on will continue to be closed for worker safety reasons until completion. We expect to have this project completed in April.
SPRING AERIFICATION
Spring greens aerification is scheduled for April 1, 2nd. The golf course will be closed during the greens aerification process
We thank you for your patience when performing course enhancement projects as we remain committed to providing Loch Lloyd Country Club with the best golfing experience in Kansas City.

APRIL AT THE FITNESS CENTER
Over 8 years ago, Joni Van Horn, Level 2 Certified Yoga for Golf Practitioner, started working with a group of golfers to improve their golf swing, prevent injuries, and improve their overall health and wellness.
Why Yoga For Golf? Here's a more in depth and convincing reason for "why should I invest in my wellness and golf game with yoga/flexibility"?
As you read this, please think of how you can benefit from this whether you're a golfer, pickleballplayer, tennisplayer or just want to improve your overall quality of life. Let's face it, most guys and some gals won't attend a regular "yoga" class on a consistent basis, but if it's fun, purposedriven, and interactive, they are willing to try it
You might be surprised that yoga and golf have a lot in common, but they require many of the same characteristics.
Yoga requires flexibility, strength, and balance, no matter what level you're at. This can be seen by the slow and steady movements that gradually increase in difficulty throughout a yoga flow, loosening muscles that may be tight from other forms of activity. Yoga also works to strengthen muscles through continuous bodyweight formations, increasing endurance.
Golf, similarly, requires flexibility, mental stamina, strength, and endurance. While the sport is not considered fast-paced, the amount of walking and standing can create a feeling of fatigue (which often impacts an individual's posture) With experience or endurance training, this fatigue becomes less frequent When a golfer has strong endurance, their game is benefitted.
