This month also marks the time when many of our outside golf associates head back to school. These young men have worked hard this summer and we will miss their enthusiasm and energy. We hope to see many of them back for the 2019 golf season. The 2018 Watson Cup concluded with Loch Lloyd retaining the Cup! This annual challenge takes place between the three FiveStar Clubs: Loch Lloyd, The National and The Deuce with 20-man teams squaring off in a Ryder Cup format. What a great two days of golf it was! Day #1 featured 36 holes at The National and The Deuce. Loch Lloyd was a few points behind The Deuce at the end of the day. Team Loch Lloyd had their work cut out for them as singles matches began on Day #2. When the morning matches starting coming off the course, it was apparent that the final outcome was going to be close. With all but one match off the course, Loch Congratulations to Team Loch Lloyd, Lloyd needed only one the 2018 Watson Cup Winners! point and The Deuce couldn’t get any points in order for us to keep the Cup. Low and behold, for the second year in a row, the match fell exactly how it needed for Loch Lloyd to emerge victorious. In the end, Loch Lloyd and The Deuce tied in points, but since we were the current holders of the Cup, Loch Lloyd won! Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to the winner s! Loch Lloyd’s annual Men’s Club Championship was held J uly 27th through July 29th and Trent Newby (pictured right) is the 2018 Men’s Club Champion! This is Trent’s third consecutive Club Championship win and his sixth Club Championship win overall. Congratulations Trent! See you on the first tee, Sean

All four players in our group were on the green. Player A removed the flag and placed it on the fringe, where it should have been out of the line of putt for all of us. But player B miss-hit her putt, sending it flying, and it rolled into the flagstick. Is there a penalty for hitting the flagstick when it lies on the fringe? Yes, there is a penalty, no matter where the flag lies or what the circumstances were for hitting it (Rule 17-3). Whenever a ball strikes a removed flagstick that is lying on the ground, the player who made the stroke incurs a two-stroke penalty in stroke play and loss of hole in match play.

THE PARTY OF THE SUMMER! Brought to you by The Community Activities Committee and The Country Club at Loch Lloyd On July 13th, 130 members and their guests (all decked out in white) descended on the Clubhouse for our first WhiteOut Party. Here are just a few of the comments we received about the evening: “It was a fabulous evening. The Club did a great job and everyone seemed to have had a wonderful time. What a wonderful community to be a part of.” “Judging by the crowd and the positive energy permeating the Club last night, I would say we accomplished our goal of creating an event that would bring fellow residents together for fun and fellowship. And who knew Stan Perry had such moves!” “The best part about a night like last night isn’t the fun and frivolity … it is time spent with friends and neighbors enjoying this wonderful community we are blessed to call home! How truly lucky we all are!”
