A Note

FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT August is like the Sunday of summer. Time does pass by quickly. Speaking of seasons, I have great optimism for what lies ahead in the next season at Loch Lloyd. If you stay up to date on club happenings with my emails, you know we have exciting developments in the very near future with our new menu. I am lucky to get a few sneaky bites of Chef's creations as he has been diligently doing research and development back in the kitchen and I can tell you one thing, it's going to be great. You all are in for a real treat! We would like to give a big commendation to the Lightening Swim Team for having an outstanding season! I can speak for many that we are eager to cheer you all on next year. And on that celebratory note, Kim Palmer has been promoted to Operations Director at Loch Lloyd Country Club.

From her extensive training and proven track record, Kim will now extend her bestin-class club experience skills to our Food and Beverage department. Within her short time here at Loch Lloyd, she has demonstrated our core values through the highest standard of excellence. Welcome to the dog days of summer! August has arrived and it’s always a fun month around the club. We have had a great summer thus far and are expecting to have a great rest of the summer and fall. As we get excited for the start of college and pro football (Let’s go Vikings!) it’s also time to gear up for fall golf events. August is also the month where many of our college students head back to school. Be sure to thank them for all their hard work before they leave. Michael Hillyard was crowned the 2022 Men’s Club Champion this year. Michael was able to take down the defending Club Champion, Jordan Wilson on the third hole of sudden death. Both players arrived on the 18th hole of regulation tied for the lead. Both hit terrific second shots onto the green. Jordan was first to putt and drained a 20-foot birdie putt, leaving all the pressure on Mike. Mike calmly stepped up to a 15-foot putt and made his birdie. As the gallery went “crazy” the two competitors headed to hole number one to start the sudden death playoff. Jordan made a very nice up and down to save par as Mike made par the more traditional way. Number two was even more dramatic as Jordan saved par by draining another long putt. As they teed off on number three, Jordan ran out of good fortune and eventually lost the hole to Mike. These two gentlemen put on a show for all to enjoy and both should be commended for playing great golf over the course of 54 holes. The Net Division also went into sudden death as Jeffrey Wendel and Kevin Jones found themselves all square after 36 holes. Only one hole was needed, and Jeffrey Wendel prevailed to become the Net Club Champion. Beth Nichols was able the capture her third straight Club Championship as she shot 78-82 to win by nine shots over Sherie Bartlett. Three in a row is quite an accomplishment and she did it with a broken finger! Dahlia Gilmore finished in first place in the Net division. Dahlia played great golf over the two days and captured her first championship title. The Senior Club Champion is Trent Newby. In his first year of eliglbilty Trent scorched the course on day one with a score of 65. Day two he shot a 73 to win the event by five shots over Jeff Myers. Larry Dillon and Bruce McWilliams were all tied after 36 holes in the Senior Net Division, so for the third time in the 2022 Club Championships, sudden death was necessary. Larry made par to hold off Bruce to win the event. Congratulations to all! See you on the 1st tee,

We have new faces, new initiatives and new experiences at the Club and I am thrilled to share the who, the what, the when and, of course, the why with you all.

Important Updates New Members Facebook Group While our means of communication keep evolving, a NEW Members ONLY Facebook Group has been developed. Our original Loch Lloyd Facebook page will remain active with the purpose of providing general information on the Club to those interested in learning more. With the new group, the focus will be on YOU and happenings/real time updates at the Club. Think of it as another communication tool to keep our members in the loop. This effort was developed to ensure our messaging reaches all of our members and we understand everyone chooses to receive their information in a different manner. Our intention will be to cross distribute pertinent information in the newsletter, email, ForeTees, postings within the Clubhouse and via the Facebook page. Upon this message, we have provided a link and a QR Code below for your convenience of joining the group. With this being a Private Members Only Group, please do not share this link. Associate Appreciation We understand our associates are an invaluable piece of successful operations and we could not accomplish our goals without them. The Leadership Team made a commitment to recognize an associate in each of our core areas - Golf, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage - that went above and beyond their normal duties during the Whummle. These stand out associates were each surprised with a 70" television! We would like to take this time to recognize Andy Rumbaugh , Agustin Cabrera and Jimi Neal! Your commitment to excellence is becoming the quality standard in this workplace. Thank you for taking the torch and becoming a model. Congratulations on your new Televisions!

Summer has given Loch Lloyd extremely hot and dry conditions. On July 19th, Kansas City recorded its first 100 degree day since 2018 and we have had multiple 100 degree days since then. Along with the stress of high temperatures Loch Lloyd has received a paltry 1.3” of rainfall since May 31. Lake levels continue to fall and rationing water has become an unfortunate reality. During these times of limited irrigation, you can expect extensive brown and firm conditions throughout the property. Traffic Stress During the months of July & August we ask that you KEEP CARTS IN THE FAIRWAY as much as possible to limit stress in rough areas. Our zoysiagrass fairways grow much more aggressively during summer months than the fescue/bluegrass roughs. Because of this, our zoysiagrass is able to better maintain its health and recover from traffic stress much more effectively than compared to the cool season roughs during times of extreme heat. This past year we implemented an Entry/Exit cart traffic system. Carts are to enter the course from the path after the green post and exit before the red post. It's important to note these posts are moved daily to limit traffic stress in centralized areas. It is very important to abide by these directions due to the negative impact cart traffic has on rough areas during the hot summer season.

Dear Members,

Visibly stressed rough compared to the healthy green fairway 13

Ball Marks During the summer months, bentgrass greens are slow to recover. A properly repaired ball mark gives the turf opportunity to heal faster which is important for the playability and health of the green. Unrepaired ball marks can affect ball roll and take weeks to recover and can be very time consuming for the maintenance team to repair. Thank you in advance for always fixing your ball mark and please look for any others that also need repaired. #10 Oak Decline The large Bur Oak located by #10 tee has recently shown substantial decline in health. We sought the advice of a professional arborist for recommendations on saving the tree and were saddened to confirm the tree is past salvageable due to past mechanical damage of the root zone. We are currently evaluating our options for removal and a replacement tree or trees to the area.

The entire maintenance team takes great pride in course conditions. We appreciate your efforts in maintaining Loch Lloyd to the highest level of excellence. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. Best Regards, Grant Suderman Golf Course Superintendent Grants@lochlloyd.com 14
