Dear Member,
Please welcome our newest members!
Summer activities have officially begun! We are seeing more and more of you on the course, seeing more action on the tennis courts and serving more members and guests enjoying the Club’s outdoor dining areas. We hope you’ll have many opportunities throughout the summer to enjoy your Club. Memberships have significantly picked up (as they tend to do this time of year) and we are delighted to welcome so many new members to the Loch Lloyd family. We look forward to showcasing our Club during our highly anticipated Men’s Invitational … The Whummle … which takes place June 23rd through 26th. We wish all the players the best of luck, great fun and fabulous weather! We hope you’re able to join us for some (or all) of the fun!

With the busy golf season underway, we thought it might be the perfect time to remind everyone about the policies and procedures with respect to conduct and attire at the Clubhouse as well as on the golf course. We realize that not all rules are popular but we also know that rules are often necessary to maintain a dignified atmosphere befitting the caliber of Club that is The Country Club at Loch Lloyd. Here are a few reminders, taken from the Club's “Rules & Regulations” document.
Shoes must be worn in the Clubhouse at all times.
Members are responsible for ensuring that their immediate family members and guests comply with all rules of the Club.
PROPER ATTIRE FOR THE 19TH AND 20TH HOLE: Men: Collared shirts/t-shirts in good taste; slacks, golf-length shorts or denim in good taste; button-down shirts may be untucked.
No member may allow the same guest to frequently use Club facilities as a substitute for membership.
Women: Slacks, skirts, golf-length shorts and denim in good taste; shirts with or without a collar.
State and local laws concerning the sale of alcohol will be strictly enforced. Alcoholic beverages will not be served or sold to anyone under the age of 21. Alcoholic beverages consumed at Club facilities or on the grounds must be purchased at the Club.
No swimsuits or workout attire are allowed in the Clubhouse.
PROPER ATTIRE FOR THE FIRESIDE GRILL: Men must wear collared shirts in the Fireside Grill; no t-shirts. PROPER ATTIRE FOR GOLF: Men: Sleeved golf shirts with collars or mock turtlenecks should be worn, with shirts tucked in. Slacks, or golf shorts of appropriate length (no more than two inches above the top of the knee) are acceptable. T-shirts, tank tops, cargo shorts with non-flush pockets, walking shorts, denim and swimwear are not allowed. Women: Golf skirts, skorts, slacks, capris or shorts should be worn no more than six inches above the knees. Sleeveless golf shirts must have a collar or crew neck; sleeved golf shirts are acceptable without a collar. Short-shorts/skorts, denim, bathing suits, cover-ups, halters, tank tops, tube tops and t-shirts are not allowed. Headwear and Footwear: Soft-spiked golf shoes or sneakers are to be worn. Dress shoes, sandals, slippers and bare feet are not allowed. Hats, caps and visors should be worn in their intended fashion, with the bills facing forward. Members are responsible for advising guests of the dress requirements.
DEFINING GOOD TASTE:
Denim in good taste means the denim must be tasteful and in good repair with no holes, rips, tears, tatters or frays. No acid-washed denim is allowed. No baggy or sagging denim or slacks are allowed. T-shirts in good taste means the t-shirt fabric must be in good repair with no holes, rips, tears, tatters or frays. If the t-shirt has a design or message imprinted, the design/message must be tasteful. NO hand-written messages, pictures or inappropriate messages will be allowed. No visible undergarments or midriff should be showing.
Proper decorum and consideration of others must be observed at all times. Members are not allowed in the storage, maintenance or service areas of the Club. Dogs and other pets, with the exception of seeing-eye dogs, are not permitted in Club facilities without approval of the President. All food and beverages consumed at the Club must be purchased at the Club; outside food/catering is not permitted. Members and their guests may not abuse an employee, verbally or otherwise; nor may they request an employee to perform personal tasks. Loud or offensive language is not tolerated at any time. Firearms or other weapons are not permitted in Club facilities at any time.
As always, we welcome your input and we appreciate your support. We hope to see you (properly attired, of course!) and serve you around the Club soon. Page 2

Wow! What a Scotty!! Our annual Member-Member Golf Tournament has come and gone and what an incredible two days of golf it was. Let’s begin with the weather … we dodged rain on both Friday and Saturday, got all 36 holes of golf complete and by the time we began the Shootout, the sun was shining! Absolutely incredible. This year’s tournament featured our largest field ever — 140 players, all compacted into 11 flights. The 11 flight winners then headed down to #18 and we began the Alternate Shot Shootout. Only two of the 11 teams hit the green in regulation but three teams ended up with birdie opportunities and a chance to tie or win the Shootout. The first two team birdie opportunities did not fall, so it was all left up to Carson Schlup to make his putt. The Blue Valley West sophomore had the green cleared for him and he stepped up to the putt and drained it. The crowd went crazy and Allen and Carson Schlup were crowned our 2021 Scotty Champions. Congrats to the Schlup duo and thank you to all who participated.

It’s hard to believe it’s already June and we’re well into the 2021 golfing season! Congratulations to the recent Scotty winners, Allen and Carson Schlup! Great job gentlemen! Near the end of June, please keep an eye out for the second edition of this year’s QuarterlyINSIGHT report which will highlight the latest behind-the-scenes look within Golf Course Maintenance, along with golf course happenings and ongoing projects. I’m proud of the maintenance team for all of their hard work these past several months and the continued positive course conditions.
JEFF STEEN, CGCS DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com

This year we added a few new flower beds and brought a lot of color back to Loch Lloyd, with plenty of colorful sunpatiens and beautiful begonias throughout the property to enhance and beautify our Club. Ballmarks? We’ve discussed this in many monthly newsletters and QuarterlyINSIGHT reports, but I am including the diagram below as another gentle reminder to please fix your ballmarks (plus one or two others). If you are unsure on the proper technique to repair a ballmark “divot” caused by the dramatic impact of the turf plant being hit by a golf ball, please reach out and I’ll be happy to meet and discuss.
Also, please refer to the hole-by-hole detail below for cart rules while off paths. Although we have shared this many times, we wanted to reinforce the importance of adhering to these guidelines. With everyone’s help, your contributions make a huge impact on the daily condition of the course and season-long integrity of the turf. Ninety degrees is always an excellent practice to maintain!

Lastly, please see the two pictures on the right that highlight recent in-house research that the GCM team is conducting on the large putting green near the Practice Facility teeing area. The green is undergoing poa annua suppression/ control measures and therefore you may see some discoloration to the putting green. However, this will not impact the ballroll, nor the overall health of the green. This is being done with intention and long-term success of the Bentgrass putting surface. Our team continues to work hard to exceed your expectations and produce the best conditioned golf course in the area. Please contact me directly if I can address any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance
