June 2024
INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER A message from the
Summer typically means more FUN in the days so my report will be a little business & a little summer fun.
The Clubhouse continues to be a hub of activity. Opening of the Men’s Grill has taken some pressure off seating in the 19th and 20th Holes and even with this shift, we continue to see record crowds waiting for tables. With our member experience in mind and wanting to ensure everyone literally has a seat at the table, Fireside will become casual dining Friday, May 31st. No reservation needed. If you prefer a fine dining experience, this is available in the (appropriately named) Formal Dining Room. You can make reservations on your app, online or by calling the Club Concierge.
Pool is OPEN for summer. Members must check in with our Gate Associate and guests are required to register ($7 guest fee). THE DIVE (poolside restaurant) is open 7 days a week, weather permitting, and you will find a summer menu of food and beverages that are perfect for aquatic dining. A not so gentle reminder - if you live in the neighborhood and your teenagers roam after sunset, please remind them of pool hours and the location of the entry. This entry can be found on the south side of the building, is adorned with florals and even has a path lined with spinning whirly-gigs. The entrance is NOT through the iron fence that, if you hold your breath just right, you could squeeze an adolescent body through This is called trespassing which is incredibly dangerous and does not give you the guest experience we strive to maintain at Loch Lloyd. We are also not responsible for injuries that occur during these illegal trips. Nowonto the fun!
FUN facts about Loch Lloyd Country Club Let’s call these LOCH LLOYD LEARNINGS!
Summer associates are here! We have Kansas Jayhawks, Missouri Tigers, LOTS of Arkansas Razorbacks, and some UMKC Roos hopping around.
Our Caesar salad is the best out there. Top it with a chicken breast and it is hard to beat.
The little monsters that fly around the deck outside the Men’s Grill are called Carpenter Bees and they do not sting. Females do have a stinger (is anyone shocked?) but will only sting if directly handled. There was once an alligator let loose in the waters of Loch Lloyd. He lived in this location until he didn’t.
Take care, stay well, try the Caesar salad and don’t trespass at the pool

RAKING BUNKERS
Raking Bunkers is not just a courtesy but a MANDATORY responsibility for ALL players. Failure to rake bunkers is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
REPAIRING BALL MARKS
Players must repair their ball marks on every green. It is a good practice to not only repair your ball mark, but to seek out additional ball marks on the green to repair.
PAIRING UP ON GOLF CARTS
Please continue to pair up on golf carts. All members, regardless of whether you are using one of Loch Lloyd’s golf carts or your own personal golf cart, you should pair up when applicable. Two carts per foursome and if you are a fivesome, there should be no more than three carts in your group.

FANS
Summer has officially welcomed itself to Kansas City as temperatures have consistently been above 80 degrees in recent weeks With this summer heat comes summer stresses to turfgrass such as disease and wilt. Hole #15 green has historically struggled to provide quality turf during hot, humid and stagnant weather conditions. To combat the decline of #15 green two Turfbreeze fans will be temporarily installed for the summer months
Limited air movement is a major contributing factor to summer bentgrass decline. More than 30 years of research and field observations have demonstrated that fans are a successful tool to improve air circulation and sustain turfgrass quality of bentgrass putting greens. The air movement provided by the fans reduce surface and soil temperatures while aiding in moisture control. Bentgrass has a net energy loss when soil temperatures rise above 86 degrees which causes a reduction in root and shoot growth. On a sunny 90 degree day, the surface temperature of a green can be 105 degrees.
Research shows that air movement (fans) can lower the surface temperatures 10 degrees and soil temperatures 6 degrees. This results in a much healthier growing environment for the bentgrass turf. We please ask that you KEEP THE FANS ON at all times during these summer months to provide our bentgrass greens with the best possible growing conditions.
We thank you for your understanding as we remain committed to providing Loch Lloyd Country Club with the best golfing experience in Kansas City. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns at grands@lochlloyd.com.

YOGA FOR GOLF CONDITIONING
Did you know that the most common injuries for recreational golfers can all be reduced or prevented by strengthening your body and warming up properly?
Many recreational golfers will have lower back issues, tendinitis, and muscle and joint pain throughout their body. The golf swing can put a great deal of stress on your body, and if you lack the proper strength and flexibility there is a greater chance you are going to experience pain or injury. There is nothing worse than having to take a forced break from golf because your body is not cooperating.
One of the best things you can do before your rounds or practice sessions is to perform dynamic warm-ups. The classic stretching routine has been disproved to prevent injury. Loch Lloyd Country Club offers a specialized workout routine, Yoga For Golf Conditioning, that focuses on flexible strength, mobility, balance, corestrength, and overall flexibility that can reduce your chances of injury. When yourmuscles are stronger, they will protect your joints from all the pressure the golf swing exerts on them. Having strength in your lower body, core, and upper body serves as an insurance policy that will keep you on the golf course longer with less pain.
Yoga For Golf Conditioning has been going strong for 8 years and meets on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45pm and Saturday at 9:15am. For more information, reach out to Joni Van Horn, Yoga for Golf Practitioner and Personal Trainer, at 913-226-4688 or email at upgradeyourselfnow@gmail.com.
