October 2020 at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd

Dear Members, How amazing to experience cool, crisp air! It’s a great time of year at the Club. Fall golf is the best … the leaves are starting to change and, of course … we get to cheer on our Chiefs! I’d like to thank all of you for your tremendous support and incredible patience throughout this crazy year. I feel as though we’ve all been on a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs, some hairpin turns and more than a few barrel rolls. Knowing that we’re all on this “ride” together has helped me and our team leaders stay on track, hang on and try to enjoy the experience as much as we can. Thank you for hanging in there with us. It means more than you know. I’d also like to thank Executive Chef Damian and his talented culinary team for their tireless efforts, creative specials and consistently excellent food service. Chef and his crew are busy working on our Thanksgiving menu and we’ll be announcing that in the next several weeks. Hope you enjoy this fabulous month and are able to spend some time with us at the Club!

Dear Members, October has arrived and the golf course continues to hum. As COVID has turned our worlds upside down, golf remains busy and constant and it’s been great to see. Congratulations to our Match Play and Four-Ball winners. We had the greatest participation in both tournaments that we have ever had. Maybe the pandemic keeping everyone home from work had one positive outcome. Thanks to all who participated in the TaylorMade and Callaway demo days. Both were very successful. Let’s hope the new equipment helps your game! SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 31st. On that Saturday, the golf course will be playing a little more difficult than normal as we host our 7th Annual Ghostly Greens event. Jeff Steen and his Golf Course Maintenance team will set pins in some tricky or “ghostly” positions. There is a $20 optional game for all who wish to participate. See details below and be sure to sign up. I want to take a moment to thank Aaron Spradley, our Assistant Golf Professional. Aaron has taken a position for the winter in Naples, Florida. He will be working at Naples Grande Golf Club from October through April and will rejoin us here at Loch Lloyd just in time for the 2021 Scotty.

Please remember to repair ball marks on the greens!

Wednesday, October 7th LLLGA Closing Day Saturday, October 31st Ghostly Greens

This fun event is a great way for Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Jeff Steen, to get “revenge” on all of us by setting the course up with “extreme” pin locations. Jeff and his team get to set pins wherever they like on this one Saturday in October. Players beware ... pace of play may be a little slower! There is a $20 optional game for those who wish to get in on the “spooky action.” Bring a guest for $75 (plus the additional $20 if they want in the game).

Have you joined Loch Lloyd’s Hole-in-One Club yet? When you enroll in Loch Lloyd’s Hole-in-One Club, a $10 fee is charged to your account anytime a member in the Hole-in-One Club aces a hole. If YOU ace the hole, your member account is credited the full amount from all Hole-in-One Club members.

Congratulations to BRENT DRAPER for shooting (and sharing) a cool double eagle on September 3rd. Brent was on hole #10 at 215 yards out, using a 5-iron.

The more members we get to join ... the more $$$ you win ... so sign up and get your friends to do so, too! Half the winnings are applied as a credit in your Golf Shop credit book; the other half may be used on the day of your hole-in-one to ease the burden of the timehonored tradition of buying everyone a celebratory drink. Any leftover winnings are applied to your Golf Shop credit book. To sign up, call the Golf Shop: 816.322.2117.

Congratulations to these members who recently shot a hole-in-one! MIKE BAKER ........... Hole #5 on September 6th, 2020 JEFF McHENRY ...... Hole #11 on September 19th, 2020 SANDRA BLOCK ... Hole #5 on September 26th, 2020 JIM ADKINS ............. Hole #2 on September 26th, 2020

Sign up to compete any time between October 5th through 19th in this individual stroke play competition between The National Golf Club, The Deuce Golf Club, Shadow Glen Country Club and Milburn Country Club. Registration is $50 per player with 100% of the fee going directly to this worthy non-profit organization which saves 11,000 homeless, abandoned and injured pets each year! The club with the most registrations will get a special one-year kennel sponsorship at the shelter, as well as additional social media recognition to KC Pet Project’s followers (130,000 Facebook followers, 60,400 Instagram followers, and 8,132 Twitter followers). Prizes will be awarded to winners at each club.

Dear Member, As the golfing season slows over the next several weeks, the Golf Course Maintenance team continues to work hard behind the scenes. At the time of writing this, we were well into overseeding all of the roughs, greens surrounds and other high-profile areas. The picture below shows several pieces of equipment we use for this process.

JEFF STEEN, CGCS DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com

The team has also been working on sodding many areas throughout the course. If you have not read the recent edition of QuarterlyINSIGHT, please reach out and I’d be happy to forward you a copy, or swing by the Golf Shop to pick one up. The report has a lot of information regarding the sod work recently completed. Ballmarks … just another gentle reminder to please fix your ballmark and even one other. Please see the diagram below on the proper technique. I’m always happy to meet individually or as a group on this simple, yet effective way to help keep our putting surfaces in great shape!

Lastly, I wanted to remind you to join Sean Hanna and me for our weekly Roundtable Discussions. Our next gettogether is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6th at 9a. Please RSVP at the Golf Shop. Limited to eight attendees at this time to ensure social distancing. On behalf of the entire GCM team, enjoy the month of October, be safe and we’ll look forward to seeing everyone out on the course. Sincerely, Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance The Country Club at Loch Lloyd

FLOW AND RESTORE YOGA Flow and Restore Yoga (Mondays 8:30a to 9:30a) is a wonderful class accessible to all levels of yogis. It is the perfect blend of breath, movement, and stillness. The perfect body balancing yoga practice combining yin and yang. MIXED LEVEL VINYASA FLOW YOGA Mixed Level Vinyasa Flow Yoga (Wednesdays 8:30a to 9:30a) is fun and upbeat. Linking breath and movement to create a full body workout while calming the mind. Each class starts with gentle movements to warm the body, moving into poses that strengthen while creating flexibility and balance, and ends with a state of deep relaxation in Savasana. It is created to be accessible to yogis of almost any level, with the ability to simplify or intensify movements. The perfect class to calm the body and mind while getting your daily exercise.
