FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT A Note
Hello September. The month where we all say the same thing. 'It's not too hot but not too cold'.
August was a month that flew by faster than it should have. From our New Member Mix & Mingle, Family Day Party at the Pool, to our infamous Wine on 9, we are excited to jump into a cooler month with even cooler events. View the rest of our Newsletter to see more details on our BINGO night, Puppy Pool Pawty and Family Game Night on the Event Lawn.
As we tread towards the last few months of 2023, a recent communication from our Owner, Brian Illig, gave us a glimpse of the exciting opportunities for Loch Lloyd in the coming years. We are optimistic that you will share in our excitement about all of the potential that awaits us. To view the correspondence and 'The Vison of Loch Lloyd' video, please click the link below.
Please welcome our new Golf Members
Christopher Reedy, Davie Mendelsohn and Braden BealI look forward to seeing each of you at the Club as exciting things are happening here at Loch Lloyd.

Football season, apple cider doughnuts and did I mention that September is the one of nicest months of the year to play golf in Kansas City? So come on out and enjoy the best golf course in the area and bring your friends along as well.
The golf course is very busy in September with club events, daily play and yes, outside events. As our golf calendar winds down, the biggest women’s event of the year takes place this month. The Brigadoon Classic tees off with a practice round on September 21st this year. Our annual Women’s Member-Guest is a fun filled event that takes place from September 21st and concludes on September 23rd. If you would like to play, please call the golf shop for details.
September is also the month in which the club hosts the annual Mixed Club Championship…. aka ” The Divorce Open” If you are interested in playing, the date of the event is Monday, September 4th This always is a great event so be sure to sign up on ForeTees
Congratulations to all of our Club Champions! Brent Mertz, Trent Newby, and Kylie Nicholas each won their Gross Championships while Drew Hannan, Frank Janoski and Patty Merlie each won the Net Championships of their respective events.
Aerification of the golf course will take place on September 5th & 6th , with a rain date scheduled for September 7th. The golf course will be closed on the days of aerification, but the practice facility will be open.
Golf Shop Hours of Operation
SEPTEMBER 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Tee times will begin one hour after the Golf Shop opens, weather permitting.
See you on the first tee,
GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT Grant Suderman
Dear Members,
Much has been talked about in regards of the playability of our roughs. The roughs have remained healthy and dense throughout the summer season when they would typically begin to weaken and thin out. Timely rains along with proper fertility and water management programs have created these improved rough turf conditions. Although these conditions are desired for the health of the turf it has unfortunately come at the cost of decreased playability To combat any penal conditions, we will be making changes to a few of our management practices
We will begin mowing all roughs at a 2 ½” height of cut. During the summer months we traditionally raise the rough height of cut to 2 ¾” to aid in turf health. This practice will be revisited only if deemed necessary according to the conditions at the time. We will also be adding a “Step-Cut” in the roughs bordering the fairways.
This “Step-Cut” will be implemented during the Spring and Fall and will be reevaluated during the summer months. This intermediate cut of turf will provide the golfer additional surface to play out of prior to be penalized by rolling into the higher cut of rough. We appreciate your feedback on issues like these. These implemented changes are intended to make the Loch Lloyd golf experience more fair and enjoyable
We thank you for your support as we remain committed to providing Loch Lloyd Country Club with the best golfing experience in Kansas City.
Best Regards,
NOTICEABLY GREEN AND HEALTHY SUMMER ROUGH CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT THE COURSE

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU HAVE TRIED SOMETHING ON THE NEW MENU AND HAVE A NEW FAVORITE?
We have gotten favorable feedback on many of the new items with some fan favorites of The Irishman (aka - the Reuben), Macho Nacho, Steak & Noodle Salad, Grilled Chicken Club and the Fagioli Bianchi (say that 3 times fast!). Word on the street is the Shrimp Succotash is FIRE although it hasn't been a big seller My recommendation - TRY IT! As a reminder, Chef has also been thoughtful in ensuring we have plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options available. He has also included the CC indicator to items that are Calorie Conscious with a calorie content of 900 or under.
On our continued quest to ensure we are staying aware of the guest experience and soliciting feedback on the menu options, a new dining survey has been implemented This survey is random and sent to 3 members the morning following their dining experience - a member who dined in Fireside, one who dined in 19th Hole and one from Take-Out. We hope this gets us a wholistic view of the dining experience and offer guidance for modifications that could lead to a higher satisfaction rate If selected for a survey, we hope you will take a minute to fill it out You can remain anonymous
Turning our attention to events, September will feature Cheers, Beers and BINGO (a 21& Over BINGO Extravaganza), Puppy Pool Pawty where your 4-legged friends are invited to take a ceremonial plunge into the pool on the final day of the season, and Family Game Night on the Event Lawn (weather permitting) RSVP's are required for most events so please contact our Club Concierge, Ciara at 816-322-1022 to confirm your spot
A couple new initiatives for our Loch Lloyd members.
First - we are wanting to start the Loch Lloyd Little Library This is something the little's will be able to enjoy each time they are at the Club If you have gently used children's books you would like to donate to this little pop-up cause, please drop them off with Ciara.
Second - we want people to READ the newsletter. This puppy is full of great details that make this more than a Clubhouse it is a Club HOME that has food, drinks, and activities for the entire family to enjoy And what is your source of truth for all of this fun and wisdom? THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER which is published the 28th of each month (shameless plug). To encourage members to read, we are starting a bit of a treasure hunt. Each month, we will embed a member number somewhere in the newsletter. If you find YOUR member number, give our Concierge a jingle to claim what is yours (you have until the 15th of the next month to claim your WIN). Prizes will vary and are guaranteed to be FABULOUS
As we go into the last quarter of 2023, there are a lot of happenings and also opportunities for happenings. It is almost Homecoming season and that means beautiful girls and handsome boys will soon be making plans for their dances. If your kiddos are interested in taking photos or having dinner at the Club before putting on their dancing shoes, reservations for both are required Call 816-322-1022 Fast forward another 60 days and if you are looking for an outlet to host friends, families or colleagues this upcoming holiday season - we can help jingle your bells
And in closing -
Two guys are drinking in the 19th Hole.
First guy says, "Hey, you want to go play some golf?"
Second guy says, "No, not today " "Why not?"
"Because I never drink and drive."

Introducing a fresh menu, and along with it, an array of new beverages!
As we approach the upcoming fall season, we're in the midst of testing an array of new wines and cocktails designed to envelop you in cozy vibes. Following the success of our Wine on 9 event, we're excited to announce the addition of three new Silverado wines to our lineup. These selections will now hold a permanent place on our menu, allowing you to indulge in the exquisite flavors of Silverado Winery's Sav Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet whenever you desire
Beyond the offerings from Silverado, we're delighted to introduce a new chardonnay from Shafer. This elegant and delightfully acidic wine strikes a harmonious balance between notes of melon, honeysuckle, apricot, and pineapple Its exquisite profile makes it an impeccable match for our freshly introduced Veal Parmesan dish!
But perhaps you are currently riding the Barbie vibes. No worries, we just added an amazing new pink drink! The Brut Rose by Gran Moraine. 57% Chardonnay and 43% Pinot Noir, give off a pleasant strawberry shortcake and white peach aroma The texture is vibrant and exceptionally clean from start to finish!
As always, if you’re looking for anything specific, I am always happy to provide recommendations or order something special in for you!
Stay tuned for our new cocktail menu that will have signature Loch Lloyd specialties!

The dog days of summer were alive and well in the 100+ degree weather we experienced in August. Despite the heat and humidity, our ladies continued to sign up for 18- and 9-hole play and, in early August, 60 members and guests enjoyed our Tropical Twist Guest Day event. Great fun was had by all at the event except, perhaps, for the ladies designated to play their respective holes with the delightfully decorated Tropical Ball! Many thanks go to our Social Committee (Amy Walleck, Lindsay Elder and Jackie Jordan) for all of their hard work in putting this event together. And, special thanks to our very own talented artist, Peggy Frazier, for creating customized scenes on the golf balls used for special team scoring. Only five teams ended their rounds while still in possession of their special golf balls so, who knows, you may very well come across one of them as you meander across the lushness of our rough while searching for yours!
We’ll soon be leaving the scorching days of August and easing into the cooler days of September. Cooler, crisp evenings provide perfect conditions for enjoying a relaxing 9-hole round. If that sounds like a great way to spend an evening, we’re offering a 9-hole Informal Guest Day on September 14th for you to invite others to enjoy it with you! Info has been sent out and sign-ups are open in Foretees.
The 2023 Ladies Member-Guest, The Brigadoon, will soon be in full effect!
Scheduled from September 21-23, it’s a tradition that speaks to our club’s Scottish namesake and one that us LLLGA ladies look forward to supporting. View the flyer on the next page to sign up!
See you out on the course!

October is the time of year when Mother Nature says, “Look how easy, healthy and beautiful letting go can be.” It is also time for gourds & pumpkins, little goblins dressed in their finest costumes and Oktoberfest celebrations.
Our October Garden Club menu reflects all of the traditions that October brings with an authentic Oktoberfest meal crafted by Chef Nic, who has a passion and extensive background in German fare. October’s meal is going to be very special and truly one-of-a kind This celebration will begin with a Rote Rüben Salat that features a pickled and roasted beat salad with arugula, red onion, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. This flavorful starter will be followed by an authentic Jägerschnitzel which, if not familiar with the German language, is a crispy breaded pork cutlet with a homemade creamy mushroom sauce. This very special meal will be finished with a traditional Kirschmichel - a German dark cherry cobbler with sherry vanilla sauce.
