Cinco De Mayo

It originated in Mexico and commemorates the MexicanArmy's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.Although the Mexican army was eventually defeated by the French in a later battle, the victory at Puebla was a symbol of Mexican resistance to foreign domination and remains an important part of Mexican history and culture.
