Milestone Family, It’s hard to believe that calendar year 2022 has already halfway passed us by as we wrap up the second quarter of the year. The construction season is well on its way and in full swing. As we look forward, the company has a tremendous amount of work on the books, and the bidding opportunities continue to be abundant. In fact, schedules may be, or could soon be, somewhat tight in a few areas. The important thing to remember is to never lose focus on our two highest priority business core values according to the “Milestone Way” of Safety and Quality. Remember, safety is both physical and psychological. Also remember, quality is not only the quality of the exceptional products we construct but the quality of life we live. There are so many distractions in the world today that challenge us all on a daily basis that interferes with our ability to remain focused. Stay strong, stay focused and help our teammates out when these situations arise. Always strive to maintain the safest work environment you possibly can producing the high-quality product in a welcoming and trusting environment. There is no deadline or schedule worth sacrificing the safety of any individual at any given time on any given day. Always continue to remember that “Safety is about Family!” The “Milestone Way” was refenced above. Please pause for a second and reflect on the foundation and magnitude of what it stands for and what it brings to our family. Not a day goes by that in some way or fashion it impacts each one of us. It is who we are and what we do. From a business core value standpoint, our priorities of safety, quality, performance, production, and profit that are listed in that order for a reason. Safety and quality were mentioned above, but it is imperative that we continue to be performance leader in the industry by being the best we can possibly be in every facet of our operations. And of course, we are expected to produce. However, production shouldn’t be doing things faster but doing things smarter and efficiently by properly scheduling, planning, being innovative and executing while always doing the right thing. The “Milestone Way” also refers to personal core values of trust, respect, passion, and commitment. All four of the values make up and are extremely critical to the “Milestone Way”. All four of those values apply to each of us as teammates every minute of every day. Not just one or two can apply for an individual; it takes all four from everyone to get to where we need to be. They are the same values for everyone no matter the role you hold or years of experience you have. It is extremely important that each of these values are instilled and demonstrated daily for this team to be as successful as it possibly can be. I appreciate each one of you more than you know. Stay safe, always do the right thing, and find joy in a job well done!

Republic Airplane Pull
Have you ever asked yourself, “I wonder what it’s like to pull a plane?” On Saturday, April 23, we had 20 Milestone Team Members (2 teams of 10 each) step up to the challenge and answer that call. This was the first year Milestone participated in this great event, and I am sure it will not be the last. Each entry was $2,000. Our teams were challenged to collect half, and Milestone donated the other half. Each team had to pull the 24-ton aircraft across 15 feet. The fastest team won, but really the kids of Indiana were the real winners because this event raised over $600,000 for A Kid Again - Indiana

Friendship Jars
What do you get when you mix 50 pounds of flour, 58 pounds of sugar, 54 pounds of chocolate chips, 1 box of baking soda and 1 box of salt? You get a whole lot of fun. With the recent move of our Indy Office, we wanted to reach out to our new community and see what we could do to help. VA L L E Y M I L L S C H R I S T I A N C H U R C H needed the supplies to welcome 125 kiddo’s that signed up for Vacation Bible School in June. Their mission was to make ‘friendship jars” with the cookie mix. It looks like it was well received, and Tanya Henthorn with Valley Mills Christian Church said, “Thank you again so much. The kids are having a great time learning about Jesus and making friendships too!!” We were happy to help. Thanks to Sydney Roule and Michael Skaggs for helping with the delivery of the special ingredients.

Heart and Sole Drive
Once again, Milestone put their best foot forward to take top honors in the 2022 Reuse Heart & Sole Shoe Collection. This was the 10th year for this great cause. The goal set by Boone County Solid Waste Management District was 10,000 pairs. Not only did they reach that goal, but they exceeded it. The total count for 2022 was 12,060 pairs. We pulled together 1,714 pairs of shoes, with 65 pairs being brand new shoes and some came in their original box. How great for someone that needed shoes to receive a brand-new pair! This was Milestones 7th year to participate. You would think there are no shoes left out there to donate, yet we seem to find them hidden deep in the closets and under the beds. The combined total for 7 years is 8,075 pairs. WOW We could not have pulled this off without the help of many people. Those to thank are: Our I-69-6.5 joint venture Milestone/Walsh project, which includes, Milestone, Walsh, James H Drew, American Structure Point, INDOT, HNTB, Parsons and Corradino. (Thank you, Ryan Whitaker, for heading this up!), Sara Synesael and the second-grade teachers at Woodland Elementary School in Lafayette, ALL the Milestone employees that dug deep to find shoes, Kathy Baker with Lentz Paving in Bloomington, Our HC&M Sister Companies, Roseann Eiler for spending 2 long days helping to sort, match, tag and bag the shoes. GR8 Pasta Push for Second Helpings
Our own Ryan Whitaker, Project Manager, asked if our Indy Office could help collect pasta for the Second Helpings Organization. Silly guy, of course we can. This donation opportunity was started at the Walsh/Milestone Joint Venture project, I-69 6.5 and ran from June 2nd through June 16th. This was the third-annual campaign for the GR8 Pasta Push, with last year collecting over 45,000 pounds of pasta. Each year, Second Helpings prepares over 1 million nutritious meals for neighbors in need to more than 100 partner agencies. Our Indy team collected approximately 130 pounds of pasta, (120 boxes) plus had some fun along the way. Did you know you could set up the macaroni boxes like dominos? Kris Sauerberlich, one of Milestone North’s Superintendents, took time out of his busy day to help a young girl get her Merit Badge in the Girl Scouts. Madilyn Richardson was interested in learning about road construction and asked if she could interview Kris, who was working on Milestone’s INDOT-Willowcreek job in Portage, Indiana. Madilyn asked a lot of questions, learning about the industry, and asked how the youth could help impact road construction. Kris educated Madilyn about the importance of getting jobs and contributing taxes to infrastructure funds so roads can be fixed and maintained. He also told her a lot about the trades and informed her how young people can have a great career in the trades and be very successful, and for those who feel like college is not for them, to make sure to seek out opportunities in the trades.

Thank you to Jose Reyes' crew
Taking the extra time to do the right thing and being involved with our communities often pays off. Jose Reyes’ crew is a prime example of that when they received a thank you letter from a local citizen acknowledging their work.
“I just wanted to send you a quick email letting you know how impressed I was with the professionalism of your paving crew this last Saturday on 101st Avenue (east of Randolph). They even took a 2-minute break to help support my daughter’s lemonade stand. I work in an industry where you only tend to hear complaints, so I thought I would let you know these guys did a fantastic job. Thank you and have a great day.” —Jon Derwinski Town of Winfield, councilman Thank you to this crew who embodies our values on a daily basis. You make us proud!

Milestone Lafayette is now in year two of this $13 million contract in Tippecanoe County. We are widening and flattening some of the hills on SR28 between US231 to US52. This is being done with FDR and CCPR processes. Heritage Research and Milestone have teamed up and have done a couple test sections using a Polymer Modified Asphalt Binder that constructs a High Durability Overlay. This contract consists of about 20 miles of ditch grading along with quite a bit of pipe and two box culverts. Additionally, this spring we had to add GeoCell in a 900’x32’ area to bridge some of the soft subgrades that were discovered. #1
I-74 Asphalt Resurface
Contract R-42050 consists of 16 miles of I-74 being patched and resurfaced with a contract price of $23,325,320.00. With the help of Mark Graham and Bob Dahnke’s crews, to date we have placed roughly 25,000 of the 90,000 tons of asphalt in the contract. Along with the help Nathan Fairchild, Felipe Medina and Julie Schriber’s crew we also have completed 750 of the 10,000 sys of the planned concrete patching. Thanks to these crews for their teamwork!

SR 26
SR 26 is an $18 million contract that was awarded last December and will last for 2 seasons. In this section we are widening the road 4 feet as well as filling for new slopes which had to be undercut and subgrade treatment placed below. This year’s work consists of cold-in-place recycling with the help of the Heritage Group developing the new mix designs. There are several box culverts and structures throughout the entire project as well. #2
Tippecanoe County Bridge 32
Bridge 32 was awarded in March of 2021 with a projected start date of 2022. We were able to make an early start and removed the old bridge in February with hopes of getting the piers finished by spring. Unfortunately, the piling in the footings were going to overrun by over 3 times the original bid quantity which has now got us behind. Dallas Datzman and his crew have been on this project from the beginning and with the help of Jake Emery and his crew we have finally finished with the piling and are 1 pour from being ready for beams. This project includes raising the road at both ends of the bridge approximately 4’ to help alleviate flooding that has previously occurred here in the past. Excellent work to all involved! #3
Hub Park Donation
Eric Brown, Concrete Superintendent, was approached by Josh Foxworthy, Commissioner of FCSL regarding Milestones interest in bidding on a small concrete pad at the local ball fields in Veedersburg. With this being a location near our Plant 23, he felt it was necessary to approach our Lafayette Area VP, Doug Pierce on donating this work as charity. Doug agreed, and Eric Brown let FCSL know that Milestone would be glad to donate the work. After Eric contacted their local ready-mix supplier about the needs they were generous enough to donate the concrete. The town of Veedersburg was also generous enough to donate the stone needed. After a meeting with the Town of Veedersburg and Jesse Scott our employees got to work. We excavated the site, and once ready we formed and poured the pad. Once cured Jesse and his crew, along with some Milestone Labors, erected the Batting Cage Frame and placed the netting. Josh was so grateful, as this was a big need for his leagues. Thank you, Felipe Median and crew, for your excellence on this project! #4

To Whom It May Concern, I write this letter in recognition of and appreciation for the work that Eric Brown and Jesse Scott provided and the financial contribution that Milestone and the Town of Veedersburg provided to make a new batting cage facility become a reality for the local community. The Fountain Central Summer League (FCSL) is a non-profit local youth baseball & softball organization that utilizes volunteers to operate and serve the area communities that funnel into the Fountain Central School Corporation. The league is comprised of about 220 student athletes and provides opportunities for youth to participate in summer T-Ball, minor and

major league baseball and softball and serves as a feeder program for the Varsity and Jr Varsity baseball and softball programs at Fountain Central Jr/Sr High School. The league operates solely on annual membership fees and donations from local businesses and community members. Every year the league tries to find ways to improve the local baseball and softball facilities for the kids that participate. There has been the need for a batting cage facility for many years to allow coaches a place to further develop their players hitting and pitching skills. However, due to financial constraints, it hasn’t been feasible for the league to purchase or construct one. This season Eric Brown and Jesse Scott heard about the need for the batting cage and were able to make this dream a reality for the community. Through their efforts of coordinating funding and cooperation with the Town of Veedersburg and Milestone a batting cage was purchased and constructed at the Hub Park located in Veedersburg, IN. The Town of Veedersburg purchased the cage and Milestone donated all the concrete used for the floor. Team members from both organizations came together to construct the facility.

As president of the Fountain Central Summer League, I would like to extend my appreciation to both Eric and Jesse for the work they put into this project to make it happen. I would also like to thank both Milestone and the Town of Veedersburg for the financial generosity they have displayed with providing this facility for the league and community to use. This batting cage will be used by many future baseball and softball players for years to come. Thank You,

National Safety Month
June is National Safety Month. To honor this month, our Marketing Intern, Ashlyn Halstead, was able to go out in the field and see just how employees take time for safety. In our Bloomington area we were able to speak with Tommy Gott about what extra safety precautions they are taking at the Hidden River Tunnel project. We have had some extremely hot days in June! This puts many crews at risk for heat exhaustion or even heat stroke. This job is unique compared to most others in the area, and they have found that with the direct sunlight shining into the tunnel and not much ventilation, the crew is at an even greater risk of heatstroke. Tommy Gott says that with the help of a giant fan from a local fire department and some hydration packets, the crew can keep running smoothly, but without taking the extra time to set up the fan and drink the packets dangerous events could occur. That is why it is important to take time for safety, not only in the month of June but all season. “Everyone should return home the same way they showed up for work that day.” —Gott Next, we traveled to the Eagleson project. At this sight, we asked Steve Deem what safety precaution is most important to him. Steve says that the most important safety measure to him is the morning meeting to go over the plan for the day. He believes that taking that extra time to go over the plan for the day helps ensure that everyone is on the same page. “Once you get out on the road it’s too late” says Steve. These meetings can help prevent safety accidents all season long!

MOUNT COMFORT
We commend our own Jason Nickels for keeping safety first. This month while on the Mount Comfort job, he witnessed a car in the slow lane that had just stalled after hitting the barrier wall. The crash unit on barrier wall and the front of the car were damaged badly. Jason acted quickly, concerned about the safety of those in the car, and ushered the driver and the three children to safety away from traffic. Jason, we THANK YOU for doing the right thing – for stopping work to make sure that everyone was safe.

Area Highlights BRIDGE DIVISION
We would like to share some info about our most recent acquisition in northern Indiana. Milestone acquired the assets of Northern Indiana Construction (NIC) back in late December of 2021. NIC was established in 1986 by David Walorski, George Moser, and Dennis Fredrick and was based in Mishawaka, IN. Their primary sources of business are bridge construction, bridge rehabilitation, earth retention and shorting, seawall construction, dam and lake level control structures, and embankment stabilization work. Dave Walorski and his team have already been integrated into our South Bend area and have been instrumental with the performance of work and helping our northern area bridge group get our feet off the ground in South Bend this year. We apologize for the tardiness but would like to welcome aboard all the former NIC employees! Here is a little information about some of our new employees: From top to bottom: Jeremy Zalas – General Superintendent, Kevin Chupp – Superintendent, David Dudley – Foreman, Danisha Marable – Project Manager/Accountant, David Walorski – General Superintendent

HR Unemployment Announcement
There have been quite a few changes that have made filing and receiving unemployment benefits more challenging since 2020. Your HR team at Milestone has been working to assist our employees with the challenges they have been facing. There are a few things you can do to make filing your claim more streamlined so you can receive your benefits in a more timely manner. Review the claimant handbook on the DWD (Department of Workforce Development) website before filing your claim (https://www.in.gov/dwd/indiana-unemployment/). DWD has made several changes this past year that could affect whether or not you receive your benefits. File your weekly voucher correctly and indicate when there have been changes in your work schedule. For example, if you have returned to work full time, be sure to change the status of your claim to working full time. This will alleviate the potential overpayments that would have to be paid back to the state. Review the notices and notifications the DWD posts on your portal account. Milestone does not receive the information the DWD sends to you. The DWD will make determinations and decisions based on the information you provide the state. Milestone will only confirm the information you submitted to the state when you file for your unemployment benefits. Milestone does not receive the notifications you receive from the state. If there are time sensitive requests by the DWD, you will need to respond by the deadline, or the state may discontinue your benefits. Our HR team works diligently to ensure we are responding to requests from the DWD to verify your employment related information when it is requested. However, the decision to approve or deny your individual claim for benefits is entirely in the hands of the DWD, not Milestone. You need to follow the status of your claim to ensure the continuance and eligibility for your unemployment benefits. If you have questions about filing for unemployment benefits or about notices you have received from the DWD, please contact HR at hr@milestonelp.com and we will see if we can help.

Inclusion Insights
My dad passed away suddenly in 2015; he experienced a massive heart attack after what was supposed to be a routine surgery. He didn’t want a funeral. His final wishes were very explicit. He wanted a big party: a true celebration of his life. So, we organized that for him, and hundreds of people showed up. Family, friends, people I went to high school with, people my brother went to high school with, parents of people I went to high school with. People came from out of city and out of state. I was so humbled that so many people who had not seen or spoken to my dad in decades took time to travel and to celebrate his life. As I made the rounds and thanked people for their attendance, I heard them make the same statement. “Your Dad was really important to me; he always made me feel like I was part of the group, like I belonged.” That was my dad’s gift; he made everyone feel special. No, that is not quite right. To him, everyone was special, and you felt that way when you interacted with him. We all need to belong. Belonging is something I think about often. I reflect on times in my life when I felt like I did not belong, and how painful that truly was. I reflect on times in my life, especially when I was young, when I did belong to a tribe and we left other people out, as young people often do. I am ashamed of that behavior now. I knew in my heart the right thing to do was to be a friend to someone who needed one, but I wasn’t willing to risk my own place in the tribe to do that. My reflections now are about how I can be a braver and better person today than I was then. I think about what I can do today to make someone’s life better. I think about my dad, his kindness, and how I can let his legacy live on through my own behavior. We each have our own gifts, and our own way to connect with others. I challenge us all to use those gifts every single day to make someone’s life at work better.

Community Involvement G I V E BAG CA M PA I G N S
So far, we have partnered with our Heritage family by hosting two Give Bag campaigns this year to support our communities throughout Indiana. Thank you to all the offices for collecting, donating your time, and filling those give bags! We can’t wait to see how much we can collect throughout the rest of 2022! Because of YOU—we can make a difference. DIAPER DRIVE In March we hosted a diaper drive to help babies in each of our communities around the state. A big shoutout to the Lafayette office for their efforts and the generous donations! The totals of what they were able to donate: Diapers= 1857, Wipes= 3936 , Socks= 42 Pairs, Baby Wash= 6 Bottles, Baby Lotion= 3 Bottles, Butt Paste= 1 Tube, Powder= 1 Bottle, Onesies= 5 and other miscellaneous baby items! Thank you to all who participated in the Diaper Drive. We were able to make donations to Indiana Diaper Bank, Riggs Baby Corner, and Birthright of Delphi, all of which are local diaper banks in communities we live and work in! #1

FOSTER YOUTH DRIVE This May, we hosted a collection for Foster Youth in our communities, Lafayette collected several items consisting of clothing items and personal hygiene items. Their charity of choice was the Children’s Bureau. Milestone Griffith donated a total of ten backpacks/duffel bags filled with blankets, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, toothpaste & toothbrushes, combs/brushes, deodorant, candy, activity books, and Bluetooth headphones, and included a card of encouragement. We donated to the Lake County Department of Child Services and each bag will be given to those in the foster youth program as they transition to their foster homes. The Lake CO DCS were incredibly grateful for our contributions, “Thank you Milestone for choosing DCS-Indiana Foster Care and our deserving families as a recipient of your organization. You have truly defined what it is to partner with organizations who believe in our purpose!! We look forward to building this relationship and partnership!!” #2 Milestone Indy donated a total of over 25 backpacks for our Foster Youth Give Bag campaign to a great organization: The Villages. The Villages is a foster and youth center with 3 locations serving Indiana. Their mission is “to champion every child’s right to a safe, permanent, and nurturing home. We are committed to strengthening all families and to embracing the dignity and diversity of every child, youth, and family served.” They are the state’s largest not-for-profit child and family services agency and serve more than 3,100 children and their families every single day. Since 2008, The Villages has placed more than 624 children with forever families, and 9 out of 10 children in their foster care program are placed in just a single home. Thank you to all, especially Cathy Wethington, for our help with the collection!

Son of Casey, Project Manager, and Bryce Loweth, Safety Rep, Carter, and his team are seen sporting all sorts of Milestone caps. We sponsored their team this year, and they are so appreciative. Good Luck this season, team! R O C K C R E E K E L E M E N TA R Y F I E L D D AY The Milestone Columbus office volunteered at the Rockcreek Elementary School’s Field Day on May 19th. The school has approximately 350 students from kindergarten to sixth grade. The school is a neighbor to the office. The volunteers grilled hot dogs for lunch. Also, Milestone provided hot dogs and buns. A great way to celebrate the end of the school year. U N I T E D WAY D AY O F C A R I N G The Milestone Columbus office participated in volunteer work at the Foundation for Youth during the United Way Day of Caring on May 20th. They prepared raised beds for the master gardener volunteers to teach youngsters how to plant and maintain a thriving garden. We added compost to the beds, repaired fencing and added constructed supports for insect netting. The Foundation for Youth provides a variety of services for underprivileged youth in Bartholomew County. FFY programming includes Boys and Girls Club, Columbus Youth Camp, athletic programming, and Big Brother Big Sisters. #4
U N I T E D WAY: V O L U N T E E R O F T H E Y E A R A W A R D #5 Milestone Contractors (Columbus) was recognized at the United Way 2022 Annual Meeting, on June 14th for their work within the Community and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Joy King, Engagement Director, presented the award to Jon Nolting, Director of Estimating. She stated that when there has been a need Milestone always answers the call. Their leaders and employees give back in immeasurable ways at every Day of Service and Day of Caring. United Way of Bartholomew County is most appreciative of Milestone’s support and volunteer work. In the past, Milestone crews and employees have removed older buildings to revitalize the community, rebuilt curbs and sidewalks, paved driveways, painted Community Centers and cleaned up various parks and recreational areas for the community. For the last two years, the Columbus Milestone has spruced up the garden area for the Foundation of Youth. The Garden is maintained by a Purdue Master Gardener that donates her time to teach the children about the art of producing their own food. Many local youths attend the summer programs at the FFY and gain valuable skills in gardening, growing their own foods and sharing the produce with residents within the community. This is just a glimpse of how Columbus Milestone has given back to their community. Those in attendance were Jon Nolting, Terry Burris, Morgan Jones, Lori Boas, and Cindy Bertram.

Q2 NEWS BETTING ON PEOPLE
Tell Your Community About HC+M’s Commitment You can help us share the exciting news that HC+M is one of the first 25 companies to be named a Good Wages Certified employer. We are proud to invest in our people and community by offering a living wage of at least $18 an hour plus healthcare benefits. On May 9th, we celebrated the launch of EmployIndy’s Good Wages Initiative at The Center. While the program is Indianapolis-based, all HC+M businesses and locations meet the threshold for qualification. “Families that don’t make a living wage are, at best, living paycheck to paycheck ... In the economy, it exasperates a source of workforce turnover because someone will change jobs for a quarter or fifty cents more an hour because it will eventually pay for shoes for one of their children they can’t afford now. It isn’t about loyalty to a company or workplace conditions – it is about family and personal survival. - Kierstin Janik, Chief Talent Officer
