The talent of Dan’s voice really seems to know how to address a romantic subject matter into a spectacular, easy listening piece of music that turns them into timeless classics. Classic Rock History Classic Lightfoot Live: A Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot stands as Canada’s premier homage to the legendary folk rocker, Gordon Lightfoot. Led by the remarkable trio of vocalist and guitarist John Stinson, bassist Steve Eyers (Gord’s nephew), and lead guitarist Eric Kidd, this show whisks you down a nostalgic journey through Lightfoot’s iconic music. Gordon Lightfoot’s impact on music is immeasurable; he’s hailed as Canada’s greatest songwriter, shaping the folk-pop sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s. His name is synonymous with timeless tales of trains, shipwrecks, rivers, highways, love, and solitude. His repertoire, including classics like For Lovin’ Me, Early Morning Rain,Steel Rail Blues, and Ribbon of Darkness, have left an indelible mark on the world. Stinson, with his mastery of both six and twelve-string guitars, emulates Gord’s signature sound with astonishing accuracy. Trained by the legendary Red Shea and backed by a talented ensemble of seasoned musicians, Classic Lightfoot Live promises an authentic and emotionally resonant experience, faithfully recreating Lightfoot's studio recordings. The show is further elevated with special guests, featuring the acclaimed musician Dan Hill and the exceptionally talented songwriter and vocalist Andy Kim. Ballet Jörgen combines respect for tradition with a canny eye for what will make its productions distinct. Toronto Star Holiday magic is made year after year by Ballet Jörgen’s traditional treasure The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition. Created by acclaimed choreographer and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved score, this delightful classic is a favourite that brings magic to the holidays. It is a holiday tradition that has showcased the magic of the season for years. Born from a collaboration with Kleinburg’s world renowned McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and with well over 100 costumes in richly coloured fabrics, this production brings out the magic of Canada. Twentieth-century landscapes make up the stunning 30-foot backdrops, including Franklin Carmichael’s Church and Houses at Bisset (1931), Tom Thompson’s Snow in the Woods (1916), and L.L. Fitzgerald’s Trees and Wildflowers (1922). This is a beautiful Canadian work, and audiences are taken on Klara’s familiar, magical dream journey as she arrives in Canada and experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties, and creatures of the woods. Rediscover the joy of dance with the show that audiences flock back to again and again!
BALLET JÖRGEN Ballet Jörgen (CBJ) was founded in 1987 to support the development and dissemination of Canadian choreography and, since its inception, CBJ has exclusively danced works created for the company by Canadian and Canada based choreographers.
