HOUSEPLANT OF THE MONTH: Azalea
Sales and presentation tips for Azaleas:
Put white and red Azaleas in your Christmas display but move on to pink after New Year. Consumers tend to steer away from reds and whites after Christmas. The pink, especially when used together with Narcissus and Hyacinths, will give you that first spring vibe.
Azalea would also do well in an arrangement but makes more of a statement on its own, especially when presented in a beautiful, complementing container.
Mini Azaleas make surprising elements in planted bowls or terrariums.

FLOWER OF THE MONTH: Amaryllis
Best-selling colours are red and white. But did you know that they also come in tones of minty green, peachy-orange, smoky salmon, lilacpurple, bright orange, deep burgundy, pretty pink, and even striped and that there are over 150 varieties of Amaryllis? What makes an Amaryllis so intriguing? Never a dull moment when you have Amaryllis around the house. The flowering process is simply spectacular; from the first flower that opens until the last one that wilts.

I’M DREAMING OF A … Who doesn’t dream of a white Christmas every winter? The snow, the frosted windows, the frozen waters, they look even crisper set against a background of a bright blue sky on a cold winter’s day. This colour combination makes greenery look fresher and white flowers magical. A hint of vintage pink or lilac completes the enchanting look. It’s time for day dreaming in a wonderful, warming home where colours and the scent of fresh flowers and plants are in sync with the refreshing, winter colours of the accessories.

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA Different shades of taupe, organic shapes and materials combined with cupcakes. This is Christmas like you’ve never seen it before and it’s mesmerising. The powdery pinks and peaches give the different tones of green a seductive edge. The colour matches, the use of different materials and the contrasting textures of the flowers and plants is what makes this extraordinary style. Colours such as petrol, turquoise, red and anthracite may not seem great together at first thought but what a sight for sore eyes! This colour mix is a Chistmas Extravaganza.

Nature meets Christmas Natural colours with a retro twist. By adding ochre yellow to the colour palette you soften the cool blues and greens in this style. The shades in this theme are from the opposite sides of the colour spectrum but somehow, it just works. The different green tones of the plants and the bright oranges of the flowers add depth to the natural look. This theme is the colour chameleon of December and seems to effortlessly adjust to the personal taste and preference of its recipient.
