Preserving Dandelions Shawn Michael Foley

Step 1: Pick dandelions after they have closed their yellow bloom and are just showing signs of white fluff. You want them to still be closed when you harvest them.
Step 2: Insert a floral wire (I use 28 gauge) up through the hallow stem. You want the wire to just pierce into the bud of the dandelion, This stabilizes the stem and also straightens it. Too Far
Step 3: Submerge buds in hot water (bathwater temp is great) Allow the buds to hydrate for 2-4 Hours. If you leave them over night it won't hurt them, but there is no added benefit to doing so.
Step 4: Remove your dandelions from the water and flip them right side up in a vase or into a foam board. (somewhere where they can have room to open without touching too closely). It may take up to 72 hours for your dandelions to fully open.
Step 5: Seal with a heavy hold hairspray.

There’s a lot going on this merry month of May! We are in the midst of Eclipse Season, which is a period when unexpected, big transformations can occur. Mercury Retrograde reminds us to take the time to rethink, readjust, and re-evaluate our direction and the situations we find ourselves in. And last but not least, for most of May, we are in Taurus Season. Taurus calls for us to be mindful and strategic. It’s a season to deepen our connection with ourselves, our priorities, and our values. These are powerful energies, so how can we best utilize them to work with our creativity? To begin, we pull the Three of Cups. Such a supportive card! It reminds us of family, friends, and community.
As creatives, we should be supportive of each other and also remain open to being supported when we need it ourselves. The Three of Cups is about communication, collaboration, and being together. When I see this card in a creativity reading, I immediately think of collaborating with colleagues to create something magical. Invite others into your creative space so that they are able to see the passion behind your projects and your visions for the end results.
You may find that others are able to contribute something that has been missing!
The next card we pull is the Ace of Wands. An energetic card full of potential, the Ace of Wands brings excitement and sparks a new flurry of activity around it. It’s the “aha” moment, the inspiration you needed. This card tells us that new projects and ideas are on the way. It’s the sign that you should go for it, to follow your heart, to listen to your intuition. Dedication, motivation, and pure excitement can guide you forward when this card appears.
Our final card is the Queen of Swords. A smart and witty individual, the Queen of Swords makes logical, unbiased decisions. She likes direct communication and does not appreciate misrepresentations. She is serene and confident in her abilities, her decisions, and her perceptions. Those around her often ask her for advice, but they better be prepared to hear the truth! In a creative read, the Queen of Swords is a reminder to trust your instincts and have clear boundaries. It’s a reminder to always be true to yourself.
Overall, I feel that May is a great month to celebrate within your creative community. Share and support each other, whether that’s through a collaborative project or simply get together to share ideas. This sense of community and togetherness will be inspirational for everyone. A new, exciting energy may be found from this, leading to wonderful new creations and projects. Remember to communicate clearly with your colleagues, friends, and family.

Ask for explanations if necessary, and clear the air immediately if something is taken the wrong way. Soften any criticism you feel you have to give, as your words may come across extra sharp this month. But with clear communication and a genuine feeling of comradery, the month of May should bring the inspiration you have been waiting for. Keep creating magic!
