MOTOCROSSERS.……FIRST CALL.……MX ONE! FROM ERV BRAUN…….. THE VOICE OF SUPERCROSS & MOTOCROSS!

“In my 35 years as a motorcycle rider, racer, father of racers, announcer and promoter, I have enjoyed the fullest of lifestyles in all aspects of motorcycling. WELCOME! On behalf of Unlimited Sports MX,

I would like to welcome everyone to the 40th Annual Thor Winter Olympics, presented by Pro Circuit! In four decades there have been several generations of racers that have raced the Mini O’s. We have seen a lot kids race here at Gatorback and grow up to race professionally. We have seen them retire and then come back to race the Vet class while their kids are racing. It is great to see how the enthusiasm of racing keeps families close together. I started racing about 40 years ago and it was the same way then. There is no other sport in the world that is parallel to motocross. This is the only amateur national event in the United States that sees riders from all over the world come to here to race. We welcome all of the riders have come here from Europe, United Kingdom, South Africa, South

America, Canada, Australia, and Bermuda to be part of our motocross family and spend Thanksgiving with us while they come here to compete. Have fun racing this week. Let’s make new friends, spend time with some old friends, and thank God for all he has blessed us with.

Thanks to all of you for making this event what it is. Sincerely,

Wyn Kern Unlimited Sports MX

MINI O’S 2010 SIX12Sports.com Race Report

PICS BY ROB KOY

Each year hundreds of families and thousands of riders make the trek south to sunny Florida. For over 30 years now the Winter National Olympics, also known as

the Mini O’s, hosts the last amateur national of the year. Held at the Historic Gatorback Cycle Park in Gainesville, Florida, the event is put on by Wyn Kern and the Unlimited Sports crew who each year step up the game and make the facility and racing better. The champion is determined after the combined scores from SX and MX. This year, the racing was amazing and spectacular like always with thousands of people coming from around the country and world to take part. Here is how our Florida boys and girls did this year at the Winter National Olympics.

16

We are going to look at each class and go

from youngest up to the big guys. If you are in the top 10, you made the cut! On the Pee Wee bikes it was Cullin Park taking home a title in the 51 (7-8) Stk class after he won his

In the 65 (7-9) Mod Bailey would have his problems but Greer and Saborio still stayed in the top 10 with a 8th and 9th. In the older 65 class, the (10-11) Tyler Pantley finished up 3rd in both main events of the Stock and Mod classes. Chase Fasnacht was 10th in Stk and Colton Eigenmann was 10th in Mod.

SX RACE REPORT heat race and then won the main even! Daniel McCullon placed in the 10th spot in the main after a 6th in his heat. In the 51 (4-6) Stk it was Cody Russell with a strong 5th place in the main. Sage Lewis finished up 8th in the main after a lousy heat race where he finished 13th in the 51 (4-6) Oil Inj class. One of the hottest riders coming into Mini O’s was Jordan Bailey on his KTM ride. He backed it up with perfect scores in the 65 (7-9) Stk class. Florida riders had this class locked down as Dylan Greer finished on the podium in 3rd and Tyler Lang was 4th in the main after a 3rd place in his heat. Edtes Saborio had to run a LCQ, in which he won, and came back strong with a 7th in the main event!

Now up into the 85cc classes. Tyler Pantley was the only rider to finish in the top 10 in the (9-11) divisions where he was 8th in Stk, after a 2nd place in his heat and then 9th in Mod after a 5th in his heat there. Chase Bell was on his A game all week though. The Kawi rider took the (12-13) Stk title when he won the main event coming back from finishing second in his heat race. He would have his problems in the Mod class but Bradford Young would have a killer Main event on his Kawi to just miss out on the podium in 4th. In the Supermini 1 (12-15) class Chase Bell was back on the podium in the number 3 spot after a 9th in his heat. Jumping up to the big bikes RJ Hampshire landed inside the top 10 on his SIX12 Suspension backed ride in the Youth (12-16) Stk class

17

he finished 6th in the main after a 8th in his heat. Cody Chisholm was 8th in the main event on his Pro-Circuit backed Yamaha in the Youth (12-16) Mod class. Justin Summers had a amazing week and was looking for a lot of titles the week of Mini O’s. Summers had a solid 2nd place finish in the main in the 250 B Stk class. He was also 2nd in his heat race in that class. In the Mod 250 B Summers went in with a win in his heat race and had a great gate pick but had problems and finished up 8th in the main event. In the Open B class Summers would get his win in the Stk class. He went in with a win in his heat race on the Open B Mod but came up just short in the second spot in the main event. Larry Bo Partin was in the top 10 in that main with a 9th. In the C classes Florida had some solid riders out there who are about to make the jump up to the B class. Daua Andreoli would actually come home with a title in the Open C Mod class after he finished up 2nd in his heat and won the main event! Jack Sigismondi was 7th

18

in that main and Spencer McCall was 8th. In the Open C Stk class the SIX12 Suspension/ KTM rider Jack Sigismondi finished inside the top 5 with a 5th in the main event. Daua Andreoli was looking to capture another win in the 250 C Stk class after he won the heat race but struggled with the win and finished up 5th in the main. Bryson Taylor had a very good ride in the 4th spot. Jumping into the big boy A/Pro class Loretta Lynn winner, Zack Freeberg was looking to keep his momentum going on his Team Green/Pro-Circuit Kawi. In the 250 Pro Stk class Freeberg struggled with a 19th in his heat but managed to come back and get 5th in the main event. Justin Starling, who had just switched over to the Kawasakis had a great heat race in 2nd and was 6th in the main. Kyle Goerke was 9th in the main after finishing 18th in the heat. In the 250 Pro Mod

class Starling was up front again this time finishing on the box in 3rd in the main event! In the Open Pro Stk class Starling was riding killer again, this time finishing up 2nd in the main event. Alonso Pazos had a great ride in the 5th spot, Goerke was 6th and Garrett Edmisten snuck into the top 10 after a long departure from riding. Starling was looking for that title in the Open Pro Mod class where he went in with a win in the heat race but was 5th in that main event. Starling would capture his title in the Fourstroke class as he won both the heat and main event! Michael Clarke was 5th, Augie Lieber 7th, Garrett Edmisten 9th and Wilfredo Guzman 10th. Looking into the Vet classes. It was great to see Augie Lieber come back and race an amateur event and he showed everyone his skills on his MX South Kawasaki as he went out and won the main event in the Plus 25 class! Garrett Edmisten was 7th and Sharp Moto’s Elliott Cook was 9th. Earl May took home a title in the Plus 45 class as he is always so consistent and

strong. May also finished up with two 4th’s overall in the Plus 35 and Plus 40. In the Plus 45 class we had 5 riders in the top 10. Mark Beamer was 3rd, he also finished 8th in Plus 40, Dennis Banks 7th, Robert Nagy 8th and Dan Laplace 9th. Finally looking at the ladies, Christina Older narrowly missed out on the Girls (12-15) class, she was 2nd in her heat and 2nd in the main event. In the Women (12+) class it was Kayleen Williamson on her SIX12 Suspension Honda pulling the holeshot and leading for 3 laps, but she was passed but Leah Cantrell on her Kawasaki who went to the front and took the title! Williamson would hand onto 3rd to finish on the box, Brinsley Dyess was 8th and Courtney Long 10th.

In the (12-13) Mod Bell couldn’t snag the title but kept it on the podium with a 2-3 tally for 3rd. Bradford Young was 8th again, this time going 4-8. Starling would come out in the 2nd moto and make the most of it as he took the moto win and with a 4th in moto 1 was enough for the title. Starling would have problems in his second moto of the 250 Pro Mod class where he went 4-10 for 9th. In the Open Pro Stk class Starling was back up front battling, but a 8th in moto 1 would hurt him. Donald Solley was 8th overall going 5-12. In the Open Pro Mod, Starling was 5th overall going 6-5 and Michael Clarke 6th with a great first moto finishing 2nd but a 10th in the second moto would stop his title hunt. Michael Clarke was 6th going 3-6 and Alonso Pazos 10th, 6-13. Over in the Plus classes Earl May was once again the star, taking home yet again another title in the Plus 45 class. She would win both motos outdoors to be the big winner. Shelby Quast would jump inside the top 10 going 13-8. In the ever exciting Women (12+) division it was Leah Cantrell having a absolutely perfect week as she won every moto and heat race to win the Womens class! She would be followed home by Kayleen Williamson in 3rd, she went 6-3, Brinsley Dyess in 4th, going 3-6, Kelsey Morris was 7th, 5-12 and Lydia Greiner 9th, 12-7. Florida was well represented in all of the classes. Congrats to everyone who won titles, made it into the top 10 or if your goal was making into the main. PASTRANA COLLECTION From Nitro Circus to Nascar, Rally cars to record racks (Buck Hunter racks, that is), Travis Pastrana has led the charge in all things certifiably insane. No athlete today pushes the limits farther than Travis, and Smith is stoked to support him in his daytoday-day pursuits. Even if that pursuit is to break himself six ways from Sunday. Rock on, Travis.
