Formerly Groundpig, John O’Connell has collaborated with other highly reputable musicians to form his Simply Dylan Band.

PAUL YOUNG One of the UK’s most popular live touring bands, Los Pacaminos play the very best in Tex-Mex Border music from The Texas Tornadoes and Ry Cooder to Los Lobos and even Roy Orbsion. This is a Tequila fuelled party night in a perfect cantina setting for a great night’s rocking.

PLUS SPECIAL GUEST MIKE DAWES £39 Legendary singer-songwriter and voice of the Moody Blues, Justin Hayward, will be performing songs from his recent albums as well as Moody Blues favourites such as Nights in White Satin, Question and The Voice plus his solo worldwide hit with the timeless Forever Autumn from the War of the Worlds.

PHIL CHISNALL’S SONGWRITERS CIRCLE £12.50 This will be the third year that Phil Chisnall has put together a fantastic line up of local talent for the Guitar Festival. The artists cover a widerange of musical styles, all in a stripped back acoustic format. One stage, four songwriters, a range of great instruments and a wonderfully diverse set of original songs.

The band features Steve Oakes on guitar, Tim Pike on bass, and Danny Ward on drums. They’ll perform a mixture of standards, original compositions and interpretations of pieces by contemporary jazz greats including Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. The music is frequently dynamic, passionate, and exciting, but at times lyrical and reflective.

Lucy’s influences include John Martyn, Sandy Denny and Eva Cassidy. These influences can be heard in her own alt blues and acoustic folk songs with poignant yet empowering lyrics to distinct chord progressions and memorable choruses. SUN 10th JUN 12:30pm

Local jazz guitarist Keith Singleton returns to the festival once more, bringing with him an eclectic mix of songs, virtuoso melodies and often a friend or two to guest with him!.

PAUL COSTELLO THE PERFORMING GUITARIST £7 This workshop, presented by Paul Costello, is for classical and acoustic guitarists, at all levels, who wish to become more confident performers. You will learn how to prepare for an upcoming show or exam, practise effectively, and memorise new pieces. We will examine issues relating to tone production and establishing a good rhythmic feel.

PHIL CHISNALL SOLO ACOUSTIC One of Wirral’s finest acoustic performers, Phil engages his audience with a wide range of cover material from Blues, through Folk to Jazz & 60s/70s Pop, all in a laid back atmosphere.

When not donning the tricorn hat with the Blue Buccaneers, Tom Mason tours as a solo act. He entertains crowds with his guitar and dobro playing, his musical story-telling and songs from his recent solo CD Salmagundi, an anthology of his non-nautical tunes like I Thought I Heard a Train and Chano Pozo’s Shoes.

£26 (£24) After many years of playing together John Williams and John Etheridge are joined by classical guitarist and composer Gary Ryan in a colourful and varied programme of solos, duos and trios. Williams and Etheridge will play some of their most popular pieces together and Gary Ryan will play his own “Benga Beat”.

Gary Murphy and his band return as Dire States, the ultimate tribute to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. The show features all the greatest hits including: Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing and many more. Gary Murphy is an ambassador of the ‘International Guitar Festival’ and is regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the UK.

THE TRUE STORY OF JIMI HENDRIX BY HIS BROTHER LEON HENDRIX £25.50 (£23.50) Leon Hendrix is the younger brother of Jimi Hendrix, arguably the greatest rock guitarist ever to live. Fairport Convention has been making great music for over 50 years. Credited with originating British folk-rock music, the band has been through many changes but the current members retain a passion for live performance. Their concert will feature a mix of long-established favourites and material from their most recent studio album 50:50@50 celebrating their Golden anniversary.

As part of her tour, Chantel McGregor has included some exclusive and intimate solo acoustic shows. Chantel will be debuting new songs, reworking tracks from her previous two albums and performing some rare cover versions. This is a one off show not to be missed.
