Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is a higher education institution located in Leon County, FL. Currently ranked as the #1 Public Historically Black College and University (HBCU) according to U.S. News & World Report 2022 -2023 rankings, FAMU continues boldy striking towards the future. With an estimated enrollment of 9,184 students, FAMU has set a goal to be among the nation’s top 100 national public universities. The strategic plan of the university also set challenging goals for Student Success, Academic Excellence, Leveraging the Brand, Long - Term Fiscal Health, and Sustainability, and Organizational Effectiveness and Transformation. The Office of Communications is the official source of news and information about the University. Our mission is to represent and promote the University and its faculty, students and programs to a variety of constituents, including employees, alumni, media, government officials, businesses, students, parents and other stakeholders. In pursuing our vision and achieving our mission, we plan, organize and host signature events, connect with a wide vibrant audience of alumni, and stakeholders throughout major social media platforms, and tell the FAMU story through the award winning bi-annual A&M Magazine. We hope to continue building on our reputation by partnering with your organization to reach our students in an academic environment.

A&M MAGAZINE

The A&M Magazine is a bi-annual publication produced in the fall and spring semesters respectively. This book features the top stories from the semester’s activities considered noteworthy. These features can include stories from athletics, alumni being appointed in top corporate executive positions, FAMU love stories, among others of interest in our community. Sponsors can advertise in this publication which is distributed amongst patrons on campus and throughout our local community supermarkets and retailers for the community.

FAMU’s Office of Communications delivers two weekly newsletters delivered to over 20,000 subscribers. These are entitled Striking from the Top (President Robinson’s address) and FAMU Impact (general newsletter). These issues help communicate everything happening on the hill at FAMU and keep our community aware of upcoming events and recognitions. This helps sponsors to keep repeated presence in front of our audience and allow them to engage in your services online.

WANM 90.5 FM RADIO

The Flava Station’ is the campus radio station of FAMU. The station, which broadcasts with 1600 watts and operates 24 hours a day, has a large and diverse listening audience comprised of high school and college students, professional and non-professional adults. Our format includes Gospel, Jazz, Soul, and R&B, Hip-Hop, and Reggae. The station produces daily newscasts and a sportscast, and weekly talk shows. We also broadcast and provide coverage of FAMU convocations.

HARAMBEE FESTIVAL

FAMU’s Harambee Festival is held at Cascades Park in Tallahassee, FL. This culturally significant event is to celebrate Black History Month with culture, arts, history and entertainment while providing our local community with the opportunity to come together for a day of fun and fellowship. This event allows sponsors the opportunity to reach 10,000 plus attendees of this event and build community relationships.

WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

From the First Lady Sharon Robinson, Women’s history month is a day for empowering women to be champions of healthy living. The event will include fitness demos, a health fair and screenings, and giveaways. Participants are encouraging to donate women’s beauty and hygiene products that will be distributed to a local charity. This event has activities for students, faculty/staff, alumni and the surrounding communities.

GRAPE HARVEST FESTIVAL

The FAMU Grape Harvest Festival usually held in late August, is produced by the FAMU Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research. This festival has attendees of 3,000 plus. Its mission is to celebrate family, food, fun, and agriculture discovery in recognition of FAMU’s role as a national leader in viticulture research. Featured activities include the grape and wine sampling, popular grape stomping content, mobile marine lab, water slides, a grape throwing competition, a hula hoop competition, live entertainment, the 5k/2k vineyard run and walk – a -thon, grape picking, a health fair, and more than 60 community exhibitors and vendors. In addition to the various family-friendly activities, sponsors will have an opportunity to tour more than 45 acres of the University’s premier research vineyards.
