Interview with Ted Potter Jr. PGA Rookie and Ocala, Florida Native
1. PGA Rookie…how does it feel? Honestly, I try to not think too much into it. It is another accomplishment that gets me closer to my childhood dream. I can keep a clear head by staying humble about it. 2. Finished T13 (-8) at the Sony Open in Hawaii and made the cut at the Humana Challenge this past week, what does that do to your confidence? Getting off to a great start in the new season as a “Rookie” on the PGA Tour, definitely built confidence that will become valuable to me in the coming weeks.
3. What’s the biggest change/adjustment you have had to make now that you are playing on the Tour? Time zones and traveling have definitely required an adjustment as most tours I have played spent a majority of their time on the East Coast. There was always a few that required this much traveling, but never to the extent that I was in four time zones in five weeks. 4. What are you looking forward to the most this season? I have been watching golf on television since I was a young child and now being able to play on these top tier courses is an experience in and of itself. I get to experience the best greens and fairways around. 5. Any specific goals for the 2012 year?
Top 125 on the Money List To get a win (or a few) To be eligible for the Majors To be able to play in the Tour Championship
Fun Facts: 1. After a long weekend of golf, what’s the best way for you to unwind? Anything I can do to relax, mentally and physically. That could be just go see a movie or get outdoors for hunting and fishing. 2. What’s your favorite course in Florida? Golden Hills Golf & Turf Club, Ocala 3. Best golf tip: I am hardly the best golf instructor, nor do I even know where to begin…. A good starting point is to keep a consistent tempo, especially through your backswing, keep your head down, and follow through to the target.
