Welcome to the Community Activity Center! Dear Member, The Town of Flower Mound is proud to have you as a member of the Flower Mound Community Activity Center (CAC). We strive to provide recreational opportunities for all ages, abilities, and interests through exceptional service in a family friendly environment. If you have not had a tour, please ask at the Front Desk and one of our staff members would be happy to show you around the facility. In this Member Handbook you will find a full listing of the amenities, hours of operation, program information, and rules. Please familiarize yourself with the information in the handbook so you can take advantage of all the CAC has to offer. CODE OF CONDUCT & GENERAL RULES All guests visiting the facility are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while participating, spectating, or attending any program, event, or meeting. This includes programs, events, and meetings that may or may not require an admission fee, spectating at athletic events or concerts, or special event attendance. To ensure guests safety and satisfaction while at the Community Activity Center: ➢ All entrants to the Community Activity Center must check in at the Front Desk. o Members must scan their membership card at the Front Desk. If a CAC Membership Card is not present, after three incidences a $5.00 fee for card replacement will be assessed. o Non-Members must purchase a day pass, be registered for a class, or present a free day pass to use the facility. Exceptions would include parents of children in a class, visitors for facility rentals, and spectators for sport leagues. ➢ Guests need to help maintain a family atmosphere by showing courtesy and respect to all guests and facility staff. ➢ Proper attire including shirt and shoes must be worn in all areas of the building with the exception of aquatic areas, locker rooms, and wet lounge. Modest shirts, covering midriffs, and modest length shorts or swimsuits are also required. ➢ Take direction from all facility staff. ➢ Individuals playing music must utilize headphones. ➢ Guests utilizing facility equipment are responsible for its undamaged and timely return. ➢ No horseplay, running, or misuse of equipment or of the facility will be permitted. ➢ The Community Activity Center is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. ➢ All injuries on premises must be reported immediately to Community Activity Center Staff. ➢ Pets are not permitted with the exception of active service dogs of our guests and at pet related events. ➢ All alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, and weapons are strictly prohibited. ➢ Glass containers are prohibited. ➢ Loitering is not permitted.

➢ Any group wishing to host an organized event must receive advance written approval from the Community Activity Center. ➢ Only Town Staff, authorized instructors, and personal trainers performing within the scope of their duties, may train or instruct clients or customers. No unauthorized personal trainers, instructors, coaches, or physical therapists are allowed to use the CAC to train or instruct clients or customers.
➢ Solicitation is defined as any act or attempt to advertise, market, take orders, offer to sell, sell any product or service, to seek employee membership in any organization, or to seek contributions for organizations, campaigns, or charitable purpose. Solicitation shall not be permitted on Town property and is grounds for removal.
➢ No guest shall behave in such a manner as to jeopardize the safety, health, or well-being of themselves, staff, other guests, or the facility. Such behavior, including abusive or profane language, shall be grounds for expulsion. A written or verbal warning will be given to a guest(s) if the Code of Conduct rules have been violated. If there is a second occurrence, guests shall be immediately withdrawn from the facility without a refund, and may lose future facility privileges. ➢ Staff reserves the right to remove anyone from the facility who is found in violation of the above rules, or is otherwise disruptive to other guests.

EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN ➢ A primary objective of the Parks and Recreation (Division) is to provide the safest possible parks, facilities, and programs for the public’s use and enjoyment. This Emergency Action Plan (EAP) provides information and guidance to help staff make necessary decisions, determine appropriate actions, and assist with communications during an emergency situation. ➢ During an emergency, the following properties should be considered when making decisions and initiating action: o
The welfare and safety of our guests and/or employees.
o Real property and associations with which the Town of Flower Mound and/or the Division has legal and ethical commitments. ➢ The extent of commitments made by the Division will be governed by the situation and determined by the Executive Director of Community Services. The time duration of commitments will be governed in a timely manner. ➢ The guidelines established in the plan are in no way an acceptance of liability for personal injury or private property loss as a result of, or occurrence during, an emergency situation. ➢ All Division employees are expected to participate in training and drills conducted to familiarize themselves with this plan and the necessary procedures during an emergency situation.

FITNESS FLOOR The Fitness Floor includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair climbers, and upright and recumbent cycles. It also includes 17 Cybex Selectorized machines, dumbbells, barbells, stretching machine, stability balls, balance equipment, and stretching mats. The center also features 12 television screens. Fitness Floor Orientations are free of charge and available to all guests and is required for youth ages 14-15. Fitness Floor Rules ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢
Guests 13 and under are not permitted on the Fitness Floor. All guests ages 14-15 must complete an orientation before using equipment. Shoes with closed toes and a non-midriff bearing shirt are required of guests. All guests must clean equipment after each use. TV stations are set for family friendly viewing. Guests are not permitted to change channels. Food and beverage are not permitted with the exception of bottled water. Re-rack all barbells and dumbbells. Please do not drop, slam, or bang weights. Please do not impede guests using the track while entering, exiting, or using the Fitness Floor. Please allow other guests to work onto a machine between sets. Please limit cardio workouts to 20 minutes if other guests are waiting. Be mindful of others by considering hygiene, use of fragrant lotions, and use of cell phones. No horseplay or misuse of equipment will be tolerated. Please notify staff immediately of any malfunctioning equipment. Only sanctioned personal trainers are permitted to train in this facility.
RUNNING/WALKING TRACK Running / Walking Track Rules ➢ Children 13 years of age and younger must be accompanied by a Parent/Guardian to use the track. ➢ Direction of travel is changed daily as indicated on sign at entrance to track and must be adhered to by all users. ➢ Inside lane for walking and outside lane for running. ➢ No strollers allowed. ➢ Be mindful of others by considering hygiene, use of fragrant lotions, and use of cell phones. ➢ No horseplay or unsafe activities. ➢ No stopping on the track to watch gymnasium activities or TV’s. ➢ 12 laps = 1 mile.

GYMNASIUM The Community Activity Center’s Gymnasium features two courts. A calendar stating gym availability may be obtained at the Front Desk or online. At least one court is open most of the time with few exceptions. Programs and rentals take precedence on courts. Child/Adult basketballs and volleyballs are available at the Front Desk in exchange for photo identification. Gymnasium Rules ➢ Children 9 years old or younger must be accompanied by parent or guardian. ➢ No street shoes allowed on the court; athletic shoes (non marking) and shirts must be worn at all times. No swimsuits permitted. ➢ No dunking (except during facility sponsored league games), hanging on rims/court divider, or pulling on nets. ➢ Goals may be lowered with staff assistance by guest request. ➢ No foul language. ➢ No spitting. ➢ No food, gum, or beverages (water only). ➢ Pick-up games are voluntary and rules/fouls are called at player discretion. ➢ Sole use of court is only permitted through reservation of a court rental. Organized practices are not allowed without a rental. ➢ Anyone participating in open gym must share courts equally, without bias to age or skill level. ➢ Full court basketball will be allowed as scheduled by staff. ➢ No drop-in users on court when program/rental is being conducted. ➢ If equipment is set up on a court, permission must be given by staff member to use court. ➢ No active use of strollers in the gymnasium. ➢ Equipment may be checked out at Front Desk with photo identification. ➢ Patrons utilizing facility equipment are responsible for its undamaged and timely return. ➢ Keep all balls and other equipment away from light fixtures, ceiling, and windows. ➢ Not responsible for lost or stolen items. ➢ League participants and spectators must check in at Front Desk. League participants and their guests are allowed to access the gymnasium beginning 15 minutes prior to the first game.

LOCKER ROOMS Women, Men, and Family Locker Rooms are available on the first level of the Community Activity Center for guests. Guests are encouraged to bring their own locks to use on a daily basis. Locks will not be permitted to remain on lockers overnight and will be removed at the close of the day. Locks are available for purchase at the Front Desk. Locker Room Rules ➢ No loitering in locker rooms. ➢ Lockers are available for daily use at no cost. Locker availability is on a first come, first served basis. ➢ Use of lockers is at your own risk. The Town accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. ➢ Leave valuables at home or for your security, bring a lock to secure valuables in day use locker. ➢ Proper use of centrifuge suit dryers only. ➢ Hair dryers are to be left in locker rooms. ➢ No cell phone or camera usage in locker rooms. ➢ No children of the opposite sex in the locker rooms. Parents should use the Family Locker Room. ➢ Personal locks will be removed if left on a locker when the CAC closes for the day. o The Town is not responsible for items left in lockers or locks on lockers.

INDOOR POOL Indoor Pool features eleven 25-yard lap lanes, toddler spray pad, diving board, AquaClimbs (rock climbing walls), and waterslide. Indoor Pool Rules ➢ Children 4 - 9 years old must be under supervision by responsible guardian at least 16 years of age at all times. Children 3 years of age or under must be within arm’s reach by a responsible guardian at least 16 years of age at all times anywhere inside the swimming area. ➢ Floatation devices are prohibited with the exception of U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejackets. Children wearing lifejackets must be directly supervised in the water by a responsible guardian at least 16 years of age. ➢ Swimming goggles are permitted. Full face masks, fins, and snorkels are not permitted with the exception of lap swimmers. ➢ Admission to the pool shall be refused to any guest having a contagious disease or infectious condition. Anyone who has or has had diarrhea in the past two (2) weeks shall not use the pool. Anyone who has an area of exposed sub epidermal tissue, open blisters, cuts, etc. is advised not to use the pool. ➢ A guest under the influence of alcohol or exhibiting erratic behavior shall not be permitted in the pool area. ➢ All guests shall behave in such a manner as to avoid jeopardizing the safety and health of himself/herself and others. ➢ Disruptive behavior, including abusive or profane language, shall be grounds for expulsion. ➢ No person shall use the pool unless it is officially open and a lifeguard is on duty. ➢ Socializing with or distracting the lifeguards on duty is prohibited. ➢ All guests must take a cleansing shower before using the pool. A bather leaving the pool to use the restroom must take another shower before returning to the pool. ➢ Spitting, spouting of water, blowing the nose, or urinating in the pool is prohibited. ➢ No running or rough play such as pushing, excessive splashing, or dunking is permitted. ➢ Pool guests must wear swimsuits or swim trunks upon entry. Clothing such as cutoffs, gym shorts, or underwear is not permitted as swimwear. Clean t-shirts are allowed. Female swimmers must have appropriate swimwear underneath shirt. ➢ All diaper-aged children shall use plastic pants with tight fitting elastic at the legs and waist or swim diapers. ➢ Diapers are not permitted to be changed at poolside. ➢ No food or beverages with the exception of water bottles. No glass containers. ➢ Diving is permitted in designated areas only. ➢ Use of starting blocks is restricted to approved swim meets and practices only. ➢ All injuries on premises must be reported immediately to Management. ➢ Only Community Activity Center instructors are sanctioned to teach group or private lessons in the facility. ➢ The Town of Flower Mound is not responsible for lost or stolen items. ➢ Guests must towel off completely before entering another area of the Community Activity Center (with exception of Outdoor Waterpark, Wet Lounge, and Locker Rooms). 11
➢ When thunder or lightning occurs directly over the facility, the Indoor pool will be closed. Indoor pool will reopen after the storm has passed, at least 30 minutes after the last lightning or thunder. ➢ Management has the authority to implement and enforce rules that are more stringent to supplement those listed here for the safety of our guests. ➢ The Community Activity Center reserves the right to refuse admittance when the capacity of the pool has been reached or when otherwise deemed necessary for the health, welfare, or safety of its guests. Guests must be at least 42” in height to ride waterslide. Parents are not permitted to catch children at the bottom of the waterslides. Ride feet first only, sitting up, or lying down. Riders must exit the catch trough quickly. One person at a time down the waterslide. Lifejackets and eyewear are prohibited on water slides.
AquaClimb ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢
Only one climber at a time on the AquaClimb. Only one swimmer at a time in the drop zone. No diving. Feet first entries only. Floatation devices are not permitted.
Diving Board ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢
Only 1 person on the diving board and ladder at a time. Each diver must wait until the preceding diver has cleared the area before diving. Divers must swim directly to the nearest ladder and leave the pool. All divers must dive straight off the end of the diving board. No back flips, gainers, or going of the board backwards. Only one bounce is permitted on the diving board. Cartwheels and handstands are prohibited. Goggles and floatation devices may not be worn when using the diving board. Running, pushing, causing undue disturbance, or other dangerous conduct is prohibited at all times in the diving board area.

Non-Service animals prohibited. Changing diapers within six feet of water feature is prohibited. Use of the water feature if ill with a contagious disease is prohibited. Do not drink water from the water feature. Use of the water feature when ill with diarrhea is prohibited.

OUTDOOR WATERPARK The Outdoor Waterpark features a zero-depth activity pool with 3 tot slides, interactive water features, a water play structure, shade structures, three 25-yard lanes, lazy river, vortex, 60 gallon dumping bucket, two large waterslides, and concession stand. Guests are welcome to bring small coolers with food and drinks into the Outdoor Waterpark (restricted to three feet away from waters edge). No alcohol or glass is permitted in the Outdoor Waterpark. The Outdoor Waterpark will be closed during storms and will reopen 30 minutes after the storm has passed. Large Water Slides ➢ Guests must be at least 48” in height to ride large waterslide(s). ➢ Parents are not permitted to catch children at the bottom of the large waterslides. ➢ Ride feet first only, sitting up, or lying down. ➢ Riders must exit the catch pool quickly. ➢ One person at a time down the waterslide. ➢ Lifejackets and eyewear are prohibited on waterslides.

TOT DROP Tot Drop is an active play environment that encourages children to interact with others of similar age and interest. Active play components include age appropriate games, toys, arts and crafts, music, and many more stimulating activities. Tot Drop entry is an additional fee available as a daily or 20-visit pass option. Tot Drop Rules ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢ ➢
Age Requirements: 6 months - 9 years old. Children may be left for maximum of 2 hours. Parents must remain in the facility during child’s visit. Staff to child ratio may not exceed 1:10. No food or drink allowed (water only). Parents will be contacted to change any soiled diapers. Parents will be contacted if child cries excessively for more than 20 minutes. Children ill within 48 hours are not allowed to enter Tot Drop. Shoes must be removed if muddy or wet. Parents will not be allowed beyond the gate. Parents and children must show respect to all users and staff. Children must refrain from using abusive or foul language. Children must refrain from causing bodily harm to other children and staff. CHILL ZONE The Chill Zone is the CAC Game Room that is a great place for your family to relax and enjoy playing games and spending time together. Chill Zone Rules ➢ Town Staff reserves the right to close the Chill Zone for programming. ➢ Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. ➢ Equipment will need to be checked out at the Front Desk with a CAC Membership or other ID. ➢ The customer will be financially responsible for damaged equipment checked out and equipment not returned to the Front Desk. ➢ Abuse of equipment will not be allowed. ➢ No food or drinks allowed in the Chill Zone. ➢ No running. ➢ No yelling or screaming.

PROGRAMS The Town of Flower Mound’s goal is to provide enriching, enjoyable opportunities through sports, fitness and wellness, aquatics, dance, and cultural programs. Programs are offered to guests of all ages and abilities at economical prices and convenient times. A guest does not have to hold a pass to the Community Activity Center in order to participate in programs. Members do receive a discounted price from Non-Member pricing on all programs held in the CAC. Please refer to the Adventures recreation program guide or the CAC website for current program offerings. Registration for Programs and Passes Register in person at the CAC or online at www.flower-mound.com/adventures. Please note: ➢ Checks should be made payable to the Town of Flower Mound. ➢ VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted. ➢ Registration deadline is one week prior to the start of all programs (unless otherwise noted). ➢ No make-up classes are permitted unless cancelled by The Town of Flower Mound. ➢ In case of inclement weather, all registered guests will be notified. Program Refund Policy Full refunds, credits, or transfers to another class will be granted when requested at least five business days prior to the start date of the class. Refunds requested less than five business days prior to the start of a class or after the class has begun will not be granted. Failure to attend a registered class, program, or activity will be considered a forfeiture of materials supplied and all fees paid. The Parks and Recreation Division reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide classes, to change times, dates, or class locations, to change the instructor assignments, and to make other revisions in these offerings to best provide service. In the event the Parks and Recreation Division cancels any class, program, or activity a full refund or credit will be issued.

GROUP EXERCISE The Flower Mound Community Activity Center offers a wide variety of fitness programs. There are more than 30 Group Exercise classes each week, of which more than 10 are aquatics based. A Group Exercise schedule can be obtained at the Front Desk or online at www.flower-mound.com/cac. The CAC has a full line-up of both water and land programs with nationally certified instructors. An unlimited use pass can be purchased for $10/month for CAC members or $30/month for Non-Members. Passes are valid for any member of your family ages 14 and up (family members must have current membership to take advantage of member rate). The pass is good for 1 month, is non-refundable, and cannot be prorated. Individuals may also purchase a Group Exercise Day Pass for $4/Members or $6/Non-Members. Individuals must scan-in at the Front Desk prior to class. Space is limited and open on a first come, first served basis.

PERSONAL TRAINING Let our personal trainers create a dynamic and exciting program for you. Our super charged evaluation and workout program includes an evaluation and a program designed to provide individualized and specific feedback. Each session is 60 minutes in length. SWIMMING LESSONS The Flower Mound Community Activity Center hosts the American Red Cross (ARC) ‘Learn to Swim’ program. The CAC offers scheduled classes from infant to adult and for all skill levels. All instructors are ARC certified with a passion for teaching and a love for aquatics. Participants need to hold an ARC certification in the previous level they are enrolling in (with exception of Water Babies, Water Tots, and Level 1) or receive a Lesson Assessment Verification Form from one of the Lesson Assessment’s held regularly at the CAC. RENTALS The Community Activity Center is the perfect location for hosting corporate events, meetings, wedding receptions, parties, lock-ins, and other memorable occasions. Residents can book a rental up to 12 months in advance; Non-Residents can book 6 months in advance. All members receive a 10% discount on current resident rates for facility rentals. BIRTHDAY PARTIES The Town of Flower Mound’s Community Activity Center provides everything you need to have a great party. We will decorate your party with the theme of your choice as well as provide all the food, invitations, and supplies you need. Each attendee and one parent will receive a Swim Day Pass to be used for the day of the party. Parties can be booked up to 12 months or as little as 3 days in advance. PASS CANCELLATIONS / REFUND ANNUAL PASS Non-refundable: For individuals choosing to purchase an annual membership by paying for one year in full, an Annual Pass is non-refundable after a 30-day Opt-Out Period. 30-day Opt-Out Period: All Annual Pass membership holders have 30 days from the date of purchase of the Annual Pass membership to request a refund. An amount equal to one month’s membership, at the current monthly membership rate, will be deducted from the annual pass refund amount at time of refund. Transferring a Membership: Individual or family annual pass holders may transfer pass to another individual or family. If the individual or family receiving the annual pass is a non-resident of the Town of Flower Mound, they will be required to pay the difference between the resident annual pass fee and the non-resident annual pass fee. If a Non-Resident annual pass holder is transferring their annual pass to a resident of the Town of Flower Mound, there is no refund for the price difference. MONTHLY PASS Non-refundable: For those individuals choosing to purchase a monthly pass, a monthly pass is nonrefundable after the date of purchase. Auto-Renewal: Members may elect to leave a credit card on file and have an automatic renewal. To discontinue auto-renewal, patrons may change this option online or in person at the front desk. There will not be any refunds for requests made after the auto-renewal payment has been made.

FOOD & BEVERAGE Food and beverages are permitted in designated areas only. No food or beverages (with exception of water) are permitted in Tot Drop, Gymnasium, Fitness Center, Chill Zone, or Indoor Pool. Guests are invited to bring coolers (additional fees may apply), food, and beverages to the Outdoor Waterpark as long as it remains 3 feet from waters edge (no glass or alcohol).
MERCHANDISE A selection of items are available for purchase at the Front Desk, including locks, goggles, towels, swim diapers, swim caps, nose plugs, sunscreen and headphones. Merchandise may vary seasonally.
GIFT CERTIFICATES The CAC sells gift certificates that make great gifts for any occasion. Gift certificates also make excellent corporate gifts for employee rewards. They can be used to enroll in recreation programs or to purchase passes at the Community Activity Center. Gift certificates are available in any denomination and can be purchased at the Community Activity Center Front Desk.
TOBACCO Per Town Ordinance 71-08, all Town parks and facilities are alcohol and tobacco free, including electronic devices.
LOST & FOUND The Community Activity Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If you find another’s personal items, please turn them in to Community Activity Center Staff. Found items will be kept for two weeks before disposal. If you are missing an item, please inform the Community Activity Center Staff who will check the lost and found for your item.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS Photos and video footage are periodically taken of participants and spectators in class, during a special event, in an athletic program, and at the Community Activity Center. As a member you agree that these photos and video footage are for the sole use of the Town of Flower Mound, and may be used in any Town of Flower Mound publications, on Flower Mound Television, or on an official Town of Flower Mound Website. You also agree that all photos are the property of the Town of Flower Mound and will not be distributed to private entities. PARKING Parking is available free of charge. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles must park in a marked parking space. Handicapped parking is available and marked accordingly. A valid handicapped parking tag or license plate is required. Parking violators may be towed at the owner’s expense.
SOLICITATION Solicitation is defined as any act or attempt to advertise market, take orders, offer to sell, sell any product or service, to seek employee membership in any organization, or to seek contributions for organizations, campaigns, or charitable purpose. Solicitation is not permitted on Town property and is grounds for removal.
