B Corp & Social Enterprises

we love to work with

We’ve always said it’s more than just merchandise to us. It’s about being meaningful and useful.

It’s about solving problems, giving gifts, or building connections. It’s thinking about our planet, our friends, and our family. Our purpose is to create a culture of change that pushes us to do things better every day and to make a lasting impression of your brand on your customers.

We dream big and support brands that are doing great things. Brands that are B Corp certified, (just like us!) that think of the bigger picture, that want to be more than just a name. They want to have a positive impact on people and the planet.

That’s why we love working with B Corps and Social Enterprises. They’re making changes for the better, encouraging us all to do and be better every single day.

That’s why we want to share their stories with you, to inspire, delight, and champion real positive change.

Who do we work with?

We work with a wide array of fantastic brands. From skilled chocolatiers who help empower autistic people to plastic-fighting heroes removing ocean-bound plastic with every purchase. But every single one of them has something in common: they’re making BIG POSITIVE STRIDES, to make our world a better place.

Check out the B Corp & Social Enterprises we currently work with. We’re always looking to build relationships with brands that are as passionate about sustainability and social causes as we are, so let us know if there are any brands you love that you think we should work with, too.

B Corps What’s a B Corp

Becoming a certified B Corporation means you’re joining a global movement to help people use business as a force for good™. Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet high social and environmental performance standards, transparency, and accountability.

Becoming a B Corp

The B Corp community includes well-known leading brands such as Ben & Jerry’s and The Bodyshop. There are now over 1,500 Certified B Corps in the UK alone and over 8000 businesses globally using business as a force for good.

Our B Corp status

We were the first promotional merchandise company in the UK to become a certified B Corporation back in 2019, and we’re keen to continue redefining what success in business looks like.

Following a complex evaluation and verification process across the four areas of Governance, Workers, Environment, and Customers we have recertified as a B Corp, being a part of the movement is a long-term commitment to balancing people, profit and planet and holds us accountable to our vision of Meaningful Merchandise and Exceptional People.

Oxious might be small in business standards, but they’re making big changes in the textile industry and for all the right reasons.

Oxious is a Netherlands-based supplier of high-quality textiles. They’re B-Corp certified (just like us!) and are the first company in the world to reach a sustainable AA ranking by the Global Sustainable Enterprise System. They want to be a leading source of inspiration for others to take action, and together, accelerate the movement toward a more sustainable economy.

Their story

Oxious’ studio is situated in the small village of Kızılcabölük, Turkey. The area is renowned for its gender inequality, with Turkey ranked as one of the lowest countries in the world when it comes to gender parity. The Oxious team, determined to make changes for the better, decided to take matters into their own hands. Welcome, to the Oxious Women’s Project.

Their mission

In the beginning, only three women responded to work within the Oxious studio. They arrived quiet and insecure, their husbands by their side. They were isolated, poor, and with low quality of life.

But now, thanks to working in a supportive environment, Oxious’ growing team of women has grown in confidence, gets paid fair wages, and has access to their well-deserved worker rights. They’re able to learn new technical skills and socialise, and two women have even passed their driving tests (making them the first women in their village to do so)!

Oxious are enabling women to not only survive but thrive.

Because no child should carry their life in a bin bag or plastic shopping bag.

Madlug stands for ‘Make a difference luggage’. By purchasing one of Madlug’s bags, you’ll be providing a child in care with a free bag to carry their possessions in, as well as value, worth, and dignity.

Their story

Madlug was set up in 2015 by Dave Linton after learning that most children in care transported their worldly belongings in a bin bag. At that moment, Dave set out to do something about it. He started by asking friends and family to donate bags they no longer needed, but this was in no way a long-term solution to the problem at hand. With over 90,000 children in care in the UK and Ireland, they needed bags on a much larger scale.

And so Madlug was born. Their ‘Buy one Give one’ approach means that with every bag you purchase, one will be given to a child in care.

Their mission

Madlug has the children’s best interests at the core of everything they do. Their bags fit neatly into a sock drawer or a Social Worker’s car boot, and each bag has a label that says “You are incredible”. They’re helping more and more children every day, but they want to do more. That’s why by April 2024, Madlug wants to have given 100,000 travel bags to children in care across the UK and Ireland.

Through your help, children in care will be reminded that they are worthwhile and that they are valued.

The best way to a kinder world is to design it.

Miomojo designs and produces cruelty-free accessories. They’re a vegan Benefit Company and a certified B Corporation based in Bergamo, Italy, with people and the planet at the heart of everything they do.

Their story

Traditional materials used in the fashion industry cause deforestation, a loss of biodiversity, and put species at risk. This isn’t sustainable, and it isn’t acceptable. That’s why Miomojo has never, and will never, use animal-derived materials. Through thoughtful innovation and careful planning, Miomojo wants to remove cruelty and wastefulness from the fashion industry.

Their mission

This is a story in which ethics meets aesthetics. It is the story of those who believe in a new way of doing business, a new way of living –reshaping it, day after day. Miomojo wants to encourage others to take steps toward a more responsible and loving future. They only support new materials and modes of operating in fashion, that divert energy away from methods harmful to animals and the planet.

It’s about disrupting the status quo by bringing people and animals together in fashion.

Environmentally friendly stationery that makes a difference.

Paper on the Rocks uses tree-free paper made from construction and agricultural waste, making notebooks of the highest quality designed for smooth writing, doodling, and drawing. Ideal for writers, creatives, professionals, and anyone who wants to change the world with the stroke of a pen.

Put simply, they’re an activistic, sustainable, stationery company that smashes a wasteful industry to pulp and then makes great things out of it!

Their story

The paper industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world. Grinding down forests and swallowing unimaginable amounts of water, with tons of CO² emissions added into the mix, it’s definitely time to explore paper alternatives. Paper on the Rocks wants to be that sustainable alternative. They’re passionate about anything paper related, and the planet. By producing the best notebook experience humanly possible, they came up with one solid, simple, solution: paper not made from trees.

Their mission

Producing any consumer product requires the use of resources. Whatever you make, you’ll need ‘something’ to turn it into ‘something else’. But by rewriting the way stationery is made, Paper on the Rocks is laying the foundations for doing things differently, and better. You’ll be surprised by how many perfectly viable sustainable stationery alternatives are out there!

But that’s not all, they’re also donating their time, services, and at least 5% of your purchases to reforestation efforts and natural reserve protection initiatives.

It’s time to bring the balance back to the humble notebook.

Help plant the seeds for green change.

Sprout sells pencils. But, these aren’t your average, ordinary pencils. Oh no, these are pencils that can be planted. It’s time to be inspired to spread a green message with your promotional pencil!

Their story

Back in 2013, a group of robotics students at MIT were given the task of designing the office of the future.

They chose to focus on pencils - an item all offices were well acquainted with. The team ended up developing the very first Sprout pencil (as it would later be known) - a pencil with a seed capsule on the end of it.

The idea behind the product was when the user was done with their pencil, it could be planted. No waste. No fuss. Just, plants. They presented the project on Kickstarter, where Michael Stausholm discovered it. He was instantly impressed with it and the potential the project offered, so he bought the rights to sell the pencil in Europe and founded Sprout World.

Their mission Sprout continues to encourage sustainability in small daily actions and to encourage everyone to #letsmaketheworldSprout. As Michael Stausholm, Sprout’s CEO, states:

“We want to make sustainable actions manageable and tangible for everyone.”

Buy 1, collect 1,000.

Ocean Bottle aims to end plastic pollution in our oceans. With 22 million kgs of plastic entering our oceans every day, it’s estimated that by 2030 the weight of plastic in our oceans will double. But not all hope is lost! Because with every Ocean Bottle you buy, 11.4kg of plastic (the equivalent of over 1,000 plastic bottles) will be collected, sorted, and recycled! Meaning they’ll no longer end up in our oceans.

Their story

Ocean Bottle started with a group of individuals, from a wide variety of different backgrounds and places, who loved the ocean and shared one common goal: wanting to preserve it. They created a system where, through local coastal communities, plastic in rivers and coastal waterways could be collected before it entered the ocean. The collectors then exchange the plastic for money and get access to social resources such as healthcare, education, and financial security.

Now, the Ocean Bottle community spans 88 different countries. They’re empowered, and are adamant this is only the beginning!

Their mission

Ocean Bottle’s mission is to ensure their bottle is the only bottle you’ll ever need. Their goal is to collect 7 billion bottles by 2025, and with your help, they’re sure to achieve it.

Ocean Bottle are making waves in the fight against plastic pollution.

Crazy about chocolate. Serious about people.

Their story

Striving for slave-free chocolate for the past 14 years. Tony’s have been supported and encouraged, they’ve challenged big brands and been eaten by many. Aware of the challenges of trying to change the cocoa industry they’ve pledged to keep going until their mission has been accomplished. The past few years have seen them grow significantly and they officially launched in the UK in 2019.

Their mission

Is not only to make delicious chocolate bars but to campaign to make a change in the chocolate industry as a whole.

They identify the current problem: Things aren’t being shared evenly in the chocolate supply chain. The chain starts with millions of farmers who produce cocoa and ends with the billions of consumers who enjoy chocolate. But what about the bit in the middle? This section is dominated by a handful of chocolate giants that profit from keeping the price of cocoa as low as possible. As a result, farmers are forced to live in poverty. And that leads to illegal child labour and modern slavery, recent studies have confirmed that at least 30,000 people are the victims of modern slavery – adults and children who are being forced to grow cocoa and don’t get paid a penny for it.

Tony’s say “As long as the chocolate industry is unequally divided, our bar will stay that way too.”

Their story

For 27 years Serrid have merged their backgrounds in fashion and product design to create pocket-size essentials in the Netherlands with the greatest care for quality, people and the environment. Made in Holland, Socially Responsible, Carbon Neutral.

Their mission

Their core principle is that the entire production and distribution chain is a way to make a positive impact on the industry and people, through local production and assembly in sheltered workshops. Secrid maintains high standards of quality and sustainability, and by working locally with specialist suppliers they raise those standards even higher each year. Because they are fully committed to the challenge of delivering the best quality. The company is driven by creativity, interest in people and a holistic approach to sustainability. This has led to a new vision of product development. They call it the Industrial Evolution. The general guideline is simple: every new product must be better than the previous ones. When all consumers start demanding this of companies, the world will change for the better. With products that last longer and contribute to sustainability.

Big changes happen in small steps, one after the other. Drops become rivers. Everyone contributes to this. A better world starts in your pocket.

Social Enterprises

What’s a Social Enterprise?

It’s business at its best.

Social enterprises are a significant part of the UK economy, spanning all sectors far and wide. They’re more inclusive than mainstream businesses, often led by a more diverse group of people. They’re more likely to employ people who are disadvantaged and often operate in geographical areas of deprivation. Above all, however, they’re determined to make a positive difference.

What do they do?

Against this backdrop, the products they produce are award-winning, premium, and beautiful – earning the right to sit alongside household brand names. From business plans focused on challenging our social norms when it comes to shopping, Social Enterprises are the businesses of the future. They demonstrate a better way to do business, one that prioritises benefit to people and the planet, and uses the majority of any profit to further their mission.

Who are they?

There are now more than 100,000 social enterprises in the UK, contributing £60 billion to the economy and employing around two million people. They contribute to reducing economic inequality, improving social justice, and environmental sustainability.

Like any other business, they seek to make a profit and succeed commercially. But how they operate, who they employ, how they use their profits, and where they work is transforming lives and communities across the UK and around the world.

It’s time to brighten their future…

Power a Life gift light. Think about how often you switch on a light when it gets dark, and how much you rely on them to get things done. Schoolchildren in developing countries don’t have that luxury. With many not having a single source of light at home, doing their homework is not only difficult, it’s impossible. That’s where Power a Life comes in.

Their story

The Power a Life (PAL) range brings solar lighting to African school children who currently live off-grid in darkness. With your support, together we can brighten all of their future opportunities!

When you buy 1 PAL power-charging product, 1 solar light is given to a child in a developing country so that they can study at home after dark, helping them to get better grades in school and creating a brighter future within their communities - and with every NotePAL you buy, a child in a developing country is given a free school jotter in one of their partnered schools.

Their mission

Power a Life is on a mission to empower 100,000 kids with solar lights by 2022. This will further impact a minimum of 400,000 family members when the lights are used at home.

So far, Power a Life has…

• Sold 5,839 chargers

• Ordered 3,072 lights

• Gifted 1,854 lights

• And impacted 9,270 lives

It’s time to brighten the future and gift light.

The most inspiring chocolate you’ll ever taste!

Harry Specters makes chocolate. Not just any chocolate, though - delicious chocolate that makes a difference. For every £1 spent at Harry Specters, 69p directly improves the lives of young autistic people and their families through paid employment, free work experience, and excellent free training opportunities. Currently, 78% of autistic adults are unemployed, and it’s time to make a difference.

Their story

Harry Specters was founded by Mona, and inspired by her autistic son, Ash.

On a family holiday to Scotland back in 2011, the topic of Ash’s future cropped up. Both Mona and her family were worried about what opportunities lay ahead for Ash, and speaking to other parents of autistic children, they knew this worry was shared.

However, whilst browsing a chocolate shop in Scotland, inspiration struck Mona: why not start her own business? She discovered the perfect way of combining her passion for creating positive change for autistic people, with her love for chocolate.

You’ll now find the hustling and bustling chocolate factory in Cambridgeshire, where autistic people are involved in every aspect of the business – from making and packaging the products to administration, design, and photography.

Their mission

Every piece of Harry Specters chocolate is a promise that it has improved the life of an autistic person.

It’s time to share the love with artisan chocolate.

It’s not just a game to Alive and Kicking.

Alive and Kicking uses the lifecycle of a football to grow and strengthen communities around the world. Their footballs are created to have a positive social impact in the way they are manufactured, sold, and used.

Their story

Over 42% of people in sub-Saharan Africa are living below the poverty line, meaning their income is $1.90 or less per day. Although unemployment rates have been dropping, over 70% of jobs are classed as vulnerable. This means that workers can have limited access to social protection schemes, are often faced with low and highly volatile earnings, and may be forced to work in unsafe conditions. Alive and Kicking want to change this.

Their mission

Alive and Kicking’s mission is to provide ethical jobs for people from communities facing disadvantages. Employees have access to benefits such as a fair wage, holiday and sick pay, and a pension scheme. 99% of their staff are local and have access to a range of role opportunities from ball production and marketing to sales and finance.

It’s time to make a difference, one football at a time.

It’s time to disrupt the plastic industry!

The S’wheat bottle is an award-winning reusable water bottle, made from plant-based materials. At S’wheat, they want to disrupt the plastic industry and encourage others to do the same.

A completely new range of reusable products inspired by nature and its raw materials. No nonsense. Just natural, practical, and great for the planet. It’s that simple.

Their mission

S’Wheat’s core mission is to protect the oceans from plastic pollution. That’s why for every S’wheat bottle sold they take plastics out of our oceans, plant a tree with every sale, and donate a % of profits to protect our sea life.

S’Wheat is redefining a future without plastic.

Turning waste into resource for your ocean adventures.

Waterhaul makes sunglasses from collected waste fishing nets or ghost nets.

Their story

In 2018, Waterhaul’s founder, Harry Dennis, was working as a marine scientist for a charity project engaging in community action on plastic pollution. He’d been fortunate to travel the world for both research and adventure. However, the bright green strands of ghost gear that were a ubiquitous sight on every shoreline, from the Arctic Circle to the Coral Triangle, developed a frustration. A key moment was the realisation that all of the properties which make lost fishing gear such a problem; its abundance, its strength and durability, and its entanglement impacts, combine to make it both an excellent resource as a material and a priority target to remove from the ocean. After many recycling trials, Waterhaul was founded in 2018, repurposing the fisheries term ‘waterhaul’ meaning an empty catch. Unlike its original negative connotations, for them, hauling an empty net from the ocean is a success, core to their manifesto.

Their mission

Their activities are anchored in purpose. As a social enterprise, they exist to deliver their mission; to tackle ghost gear in oceans by transforming waste into a valued resource. After months of design trials, errors and material failures, they developed a mechanical recycling solution to process various forms of end-of-life fishing gear and produced their first pair of sunglasses in 2018. As they suspected fishing nets durable enough to last 500 years in the ocean make for super-strong sunglasses frames. They utilise the strongest form of plastic in our oceans to produce exceptionally sustainable, recycled eyewear. Eyewear that meets the technical demands of adventure, ocean exposure and UV protection, but also act as “symbols of change” for our oceans. They also help to inspire further positive change by offering handson outreach workshops to educate schools and businesses about ghost nets and ocean plastics and how to recycle them into new products.

From waste to resource, make your adventures ocean-positive.

Endless writing for everyone

Their story

Founder Sam discovered, on a holiday in South Africa, what the children from the slums really want. Not the newest smartphone, but simply something to write on. 250 million children are not able to read and write yet. They created a modular notebook that you can digitally scan and store the contents and then erase the writing, allowing for multiple uses.

Their mission

“Banish illiteracy worldwide. That’s our mission.” So far they’ve helped 631.409 children in developing areas, they are provided with an erasable Correctbook writing set for a year. They count in years because they find it most important that a child keeps on writing their full school period. That’s why, every year, they replenish ink stations and replace broken books at the schools we support.

A sustainable gift, nice to give and to receive.
