Because no child should have to carry their life in a bin bag.

Madlug stands for ‘Make a difference luggage’. By purchasing one of Madlug’s bags, you’ll be providing a child in care with a free bag to carry their possessions in, as well as value, worth, and dignity.

Their story

Madlug was set up in 2015 by Dave Linton after learning that most children in care transported their worldly belongings in a bin bag. In that moment, Dave set out to do something about it. He started by asking friends and family to donate bags they no longer needed, but this was in no way a long-term solution to the problem at hand. With over 90,000 children in care in the UK and Ireland, they needed bags on a much larger scale.

And so Madlug was born. Their ‘Buy one Give one’ approach means that with every bag you purchase, one will be given to a child in care.

Their mission

Madlug has the children’s best interests at the core of everything they do. Their bags fit neatly into a sock drawer or a Social Worker’s car boot, and each bag has a label that says “You are incredible”. They’re helping more and more children every day, but they want to do more. That’s why by April 2024, Madlug wants to have given 100,000 travel bags to children in care across the UK and Ireland.

Through your help, children in care will be reminded that they are worthwhile and that they are valued.
