Creating Easy Scratch Off Tickets to Enhance Sales and Prizes! 1. Cut cardstock into 3 x 4 inch rectangles. Design the top half however you like. On the bottom half of the card, design/draw a small box and write in the sale or prize. What You’ll Need • Cardstock • Clear packing tape • Paint (acrylic) • Dish soap • Painters tape • Scissors, paint brush, pen • Optional: small envelopes

Now that the card is decorated, take a piece of clear packing tape and place it over the treat box make sure it is smooth. Apply strips of painters tape around your paint area (on top of the packing tape). Now you're ready to paint. Mix 2 parts paint with 1 part dish soap. Apply one coat and let dry. Note: a dark paint works best. Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the low tack tape. You're done! Hand them out as is or package them in small envelopes. Don't forget the lucky scratching penny.

BOILING THE FROG

MARKETING

BOILING FROG SYNDROME OR STAYING IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE! The story regarding Boiling Frog Syndrome is widely known. A frog placed in boiling water will certainly jump out. But if the frog is initially placed in cold water and the water is gradually heated up - the results are going to be different. Gradually increasing ambient temperature is bound to offer a soothing effect on the frog. It tends to keep adjusting itself with the variations but there is a limit to it. There will be a point beyond which frog's metabolism cannot cope up and has to ultimately die. It is possible to be successful maintaining the status quo, but true differentiation is achievable only for those who are willing to dive into new areas and jump out of their Comfort Zone! You will let perfection go. Nobody is perfect – don’t expect it and don’t long for it. Let go and you will lose the hesitation that has held you back in the past. You will learn to take risks where before you would have run. With risk comes the chance of failure, but more importantly, a chance of greatness. You will inspire others. What you do is noticed by others, whether you realize it or not. People are watching you, and what you do gives them an inspiring role model for growth and change.

You will have no regrets at the end. Regrets come when we wonder, “What if?” yet don’t act. Don’t wonder – take the plunge.

” So jump. Your life will never be the same again, ever. And it's gonna be great. “ Marty Rubin You will define yourself authentically. By pushing yourself into new areas you will have a chance to authentically define who you are, and break free of the limitations of what others think you should be. You will gain control. When you step out on your own path, you get to live and work on your own terms. Having a sense of personal control is not only essential for well-being, but research has shown that it lowers stress and increases job satisfaction as well. Your life experience will be fuller. Leaving your comfort zone can create a tremendous feeling of euphoria and selfrespect as you learn what you are truly capable of doing and creating, which is far greater and more expansive than you ever dreamed. Pushing past your limits helps you find the fulfillment, excitement, and meaning you have been searching for in all the wrong places. If you never leave your comfort zone you are likely sabotaging your chances for lasting success and happiness. Don’t be afraid to try something new in any aspect of your life. You will find you are more resilient, capable and courageous than you once believed, and as you rise to these challenges, more exciting ones are waiting in the wings.

TOOLS TIDBITS & TREADS T TIDBITS TOOLS FEET FIRST With the popularity of swimming and other water-related recreational activities, IMCOM Family & MWR has chosen the month of June to educate its patrons on the importance of Water Safety. The goal of the Feet First - Water Safety Campaign is to help patrons identify high risks surrounding water and highlight safety steps they can take while having fun in the water. According to the US Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine (USARIEM) most drowning occurred off-duty (89%). While most drowning did not involve violations of safety rules, over one third of the cases involved some form of reckless behavior particular for those under age 21. Center for Disease Control statistics show Children: 1-4 have the highest drowning rates. Drowning remains as 2nd – leading cause of unintentional death. Most drown in home swimming pools or unguarded bodies of water. 3,600 kids age 15 and under were treated in hospital emergency rooms for drowning related emergencies. Low income children are at higher risk from non swimming pool drowning. Highest drowning incidents occurs during spring and summer with July noted to be the highest. The “Feet First-into Water Safety” campaign was developed to educate and create awareness geared towards our high risk population.

TRENDS

DoD PREPARES TO LAUNCH ALL SERVICES MWR SURVEY You may hear about an MWR survey that will soon be distributed by The Department of Defense to all military services. It's a large-scale, big-picture effort to assess customer satisfaction with MWR. IMCOM G9 has only had minimal participation in the development of this survey. It probably will not be very specific by asking questions about individual MWRs. This DoD Survey and our IMCOM MWR Services survey are similar in they both seek to understand customer satisfaction and use. The scope of these surveys is different. The DoD Survey only covers select MWR activities, primarily Cat C. In addition, the DoD Survey does not provide Garrison level data. The MWR Services Survey is intended to understand our customer interests, program use (Cat A, Cat B, and Cat C) and evaluate outcomes of MWR. Between the two surveys, we'll have a greater opportunity to understand our military community members. We will make the results of these surveys available to you as soon as we receive them from IMCOM.
