Bangkok

Welcome to Bangkok – the City of Angels Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. It is also Thailand’s biggest city — with around 14 million people. That sure is a lot of people! It is the most important city in Thailand because it is the political, financial, and economic heart of the country. In the Thai language, Bangkok is called: Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphimanawatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit

Thai people often shorten the name to simply Krungthep. The city’s name in English means: “City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Visvakarman at Indra’s request.”

Did you know? Many Th ai people cannot r emembe r the full name of the cit y! Are you surprise d?!

It’s very confusing! You should be able to remember Bangkok’s nickname, though, with no problems – “The City of Angels.” Here’s an angel for you to color:
