A Conference to Celebrate! Anticipating our return to this in person FMHCA Conference, I have been humming a refrain from the Welcome Back Kotter theme - "We always could spot a friend, welcome back". We have been faithful warriors on the front lines during an overwhelming time to support our clients, supervisees and students. Now it's time for us. What a delight to again experience networking and reconnecting. We encourage you to be "all in" for these power packed days. Meet new colleagues. Talk with our exhibitors to learn about programs and training that will enhance your practice. Encourage students who are presenting posters or feeling timid about attending their first professional conference. And as a bonus, you get CE's. But more than that, I hope you find renewed strength and purpose in the work we have been called to do as mental health professionals. Cordially,

Friday Keynote 1 Thriving in a Post-Pandemic World using the Renewable Energy created from Higher AQ and the Habit of Resilience Dwight Bain, LMHC, NCC, CLC 8:00am- 10:00am | 2 Clock Hours | Salon D&E Description: The physical risks of COVID-19 have been magnified by frequent psychological fears, stress, and emotional pressure about the spread of the virus. This extended pandemic, can create a dangerous ‘multiplier effect’ which can create numerous mental health challenges. Everyone is going through this pandemic at the same time, facing the same set of risk factors. Not everyone is managing it the same way. How do some race back to ‘normal’ functioning while others are feeling emotionally frozen or ‘numb?’ It is an issue of capacity, resiliency, and adaptability. A solution to this demanding challenge is for every professional to be trained and equipped with rapid psychological recovery skills to protect them mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally. Skill development using the habit of resilience can boost emotional and physical energy. Post-pandemic stress cannot be stopped, which is why strategic skill building to adapt and move beyond the stress and its damaging impact must be implemented now. This process of reversing destructive stress and converting it over into increased emotional energy can boost the mood and increase motivation for the important work that must be done during the post-pandemic years. Special forces, emergency room teams, first responders and crisis managers who face continual pressure are trained in the techniques to prevent stress from altering their mindset. These crews have learned adaptability from the habit of resilience which protects emotional energy and can frequently boost physical energy for greater work performance. These techniques flow from daily rituals to add protective emotional layers that block damaging stress while increasing positive emotional energy. Equipping mental health leaders with the skills of rapid psychological recovery can strengthen resilience, improve mood, and boost motivation across an organization or community. Finding energy during times of radical change flows out of thinking patterns – or mental habits – which are most noticeable during extended times of crisis. Times of crisis expose neurological patterns from the habit of resilience – or the lack of AQ and mental patterns of resilience. Everyone reacts differently to a crisis, based on age, previous experience with stress, current support system, resources and AQ – adaptability quotient. Some will face the pressure directly and thrive during the post-pandemic years. Others will feel overwhelmed like they are drowning in a tsunami of dread and fall behind. Join us for this time of new skill development so your emotional energy and mindset stay focused on resilience and decisiveness to function at peak performance during this season of change. Learning Objectives: 1. Understand how prolonged stress from a global pandemic depletes self discipline, creates decision fatigue, and leads to exhaustion or burnout. 2. Gain insight into the benefits of boosting AQ by developing aggressive selfcare during periods of continual stress to protect mental and physical health. 3. Develop a personalized mental wellness plan of behaviors and skills that elevate resilience and renewable emotional energy. Dwight Bain is a Nationally Certified Counselor in practice since 1984 with a specialty in managing crisis. He served on a critical incident team after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 in New York City at Ground Zero. His research on rapid psychological recovery to build Post-Traumatic Growth after community crisis was featured at the World Congress on Crisis, Stress and Human Resilience. Dwight is a trusted media resource who has been interviewed on over 500 radio and television stations; as well as quoted in over 100 newspapers/websites including: New York Times, Washington Post, Orlando Sentinel, Chicago Tribune, Atlanta Journal, Miami Herald, Los Angeles Times, FoxBusiness.com & MSNBC. He lives in Orlando with Sheila, his wife of 35 years. 24

SALON G & H Topic 1: Gestalt Style Applications Used In Treatment of Complex Trauma and Human Trafficking with The HEART Model with Inclusion of Faith-Based Format Presenter: Benjamin B. Keyes, Ph.D., Ed. D, ThD, LMHC 28
Description: The HEART Model integrates standard trauma treatment with a holistic Christian perspective of mind, body, and spirit. This workshop will follow a teaching model that allows practitioners to be able to practice new skills and use them effectively. Participants will be closely supervised as they learn and develop the techniques of the model. The HEART Model was initially created as a Christian model to address complex trauma and human trafficking. It has been researched over the last seven years and has been found to significantly decrease symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. It has also been shown to increase personal resiliency and positive God-image with individuals from a variety of populations. The work is rooted in a process of healing cognitive and spiritual distortions through self and spiritual forgiveness. Rooted in Gestalt Therapy techniques of 'Empty Chair' and projection, the HEART Model provides an existential experience and interaction with both self and God that integrates Spiritual Growth and awareness with Resiliency and Healing. The HEART Model has even been selected as the model of mental health trauma treatment for Uncaged, a program specifically designed to treat survivors of human trafficking and Courage Worldwide. The HEART model is taught in such a way that allows practitioners to be able to practice and use it effectively. Focus in this workshop will be specifically around the Cognitive and Spiritual Distortions that keep trauma survivors trapped and trauma unresolved. These skills are transferable to the Clinical setting immediately following the training in order to enhance the clinician's ability to help their clients to heal and resolve the internal dissonance of trauma. Course Goals & Objectives: Participants will be able to assess and synthesize how aspects of The HEART Model can be used at various stages when working with survivors of human trafficking and 29

Topic 2: Creative Therapies for Post Pandemic Trauma Presenters: Dr Kathie Erwin, LMHC, NCC, NCGC, AMHCA Diplomate & Kelly Erwin, Certified Field Traumatologist Description: Even after the threat of Covid-19 reduced, the pandemic related trauma experiences linger and need resolution.
