ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES: Josh Kramer & NDAREC Team
Located just off of I-94 and Old Red Trail in Mandan, the people and members that make up the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives (NDAREC) began empowering communities more than 80 years ago. Now equipped with a remodeled headquarters and a new 26,337-square-foot Lineworker Training Center, North Dakota’s electric cooperatives are committed to electric co-ops' current and future workforce. Investing in education, safety, communications, advocacy and development needs, they are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people they serve.
North Dakota’s electric cooperatives provide electricity throughout the state, with NDAREC being the association that represents these vital service providers.
Electricity is a critical infrastructure that leads to long-term prosperity and growth, connects people and communities, enables trade, improves livability and creates opportunity. This infrastructure is transformational and provides long-lasting economic and social impact for generations.
NDAREC also produces North Dakota’s best-read publication: North Dakota Living magazine. Published monthly, North Dakota Living is an important tool for providing cooperative and industry education. It includes dedicated pages with local content from each cooperative.
Josh Kramer, the association’s executive vice president and general manager, explains that as cooperatives, those served are not only customers but also member-owners; they are the people who guide the cooperative and its services. It is what makes NDAREC and its members unique. It is the cooperative difference. That is something they are proud of.
