continues to inspire the next generation of real estate appraisers. He also is an active member of the East Florida Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, where he has achieved the Member of Appraisal Institute (MAI) and Senior Residential Appraiser (SRA) designations. Through his involvement in the Appraisal Institute, Ron has been able to contribute to the advancement of the appraisal profession and share his knowledge and expertise with others.

Tell us about your family. Wife, Rachel, a Jacksonville native; son Wyatt, 6.

How long have you been in Jacksonville? Relocated to Jacksonville from Washington, D.C., in 2006.

What was your first or worst job? My first job in high school was at Art’s BBQ. The perks were amazing. Free barbecue each shift. Still the best barbecue I have ever eaten.

If you could talk to your 17-year-old self, what advice would give them? It sounds cliché, but to enjoy the ride. Time is one of the most important commodities in life, remember to take full advantage of the present while striving to create your future. And maybe just a couple of small stock tips.

The Dr. Lew Klechak Award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions resulting in a significant impact on the continued development of Downtown Jacksonville.

Dr. Lew Klechak was first honored with this award in his name for his vision and unselfish devotion for over 15 years to the revitalization of the downtown area while he was Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Since then, many noteworthy individuals have been awarded the same honor, given by the Downtown Investment Authority. This year, the DIA awarded Ron Moody, Moody Williams Appraisal Group, the 2023 Klechak award.

Ron Moody is a seasoned real estate appraiser and leader in the development of Downtown Jacksonville. With over 50 years of experience, Moody has appraised a wide variety of real estate properties and has developed a reputation for solving complex appraisal problems.

As the chief executive officer of the Moody Williams Appraisal Group, Ron

Ron’s expertise in real estate appraisal has also led him to a busy trial calendar for eminent domain issues and complex real estate appraisals. His ability to effectively navigate these complex issues has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and clients.

In addition to his work in real estate appraisal, Ron also has been active in the development of Downtown Jacksonville. He served seven years on the DIA board, including one year as chair beginning in 2020. During his time as chair, the DIA leveraged performance-based public incentives to attract $170 million in private capital investment Downtown.

Under Ron’s leadership, the DIA could continue its mission of revitalizing Downtown Jacksonville, even during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through his dedication to transparency and public accessibility, the DIA remained a model for other organizations during uncertainty and challenge.

Ron’s passion for helping Downtown Jacksonville thrive is evident in his work as an appraiser and community leader. His support for the development of Downtown Jacksonville is undeniable, and his contributions to the area will be felt for years to come.
