Historically , The National College had adopted an approach of facilitation that draws heavily on the work of Goleman and McClelland. Using emotional intelligence and drawing on competencies that manifest themselves as behaviours is critical. It is this model of facilitation that the work of UCL is based on. There is acknowledgement that the skills of facilitation are important in a process of learning that enables the building of skill capacity and adopts a more coaching approach.
On completion of this programme you will be able to deliver the NPQML and NPQSL programmes and be registered with UCL Institute of Education.

Primarily, this JAWS is targeted at current Senior Leaders yet content would prove extremely useful, and positively challenging, for aspiring Senior Leaders, who possess a depth of experience in other leadership roles.

Hosts This is a co-hosted JAWs event, yet both days will be held at The British School of Kuala Lumpur (BSKL). Programme coordinators: Aidan Edmanson (BSKL) and Frances Baxter (Sri KDU).
Programme There is an expectation that all attendees actively participate throughout the two days and so the full agenda will be completed once all of the delegates are registered. Likewise, once there is a final list, all participants will be contacted and given the opportunity to lead certain workshop sessions. Possible themes, across the two days, will include: - Leading Teaching & Learning; - Strategic-vision planning; - Exploring the self and EQ; - Expanding leadership capacity and empowering others; - Courageous conversations; - Change leadership; - Leading recruitment; - Marketing and resource management. Each day will begin with explorative sessions, led by the hosts, on the challenges of senior leadership. The remainder of Day 1 will revolve around workshops, led by the delegates. The remainder of Day 2 will involve a leadership scenario where delegates are required to work in teams on a challenge, drawing on a variety of skills and approaches, which will culminate in a solution-focused presentation that is delivered to the whole group.

Number 1 for education in QS World University Rankings
Working with UCL Institute of Education in the Far East The UCL Institute of Education (IoE) has taken over 200 delegates through the NPQ programmes. They have a wealth of experience in running these programmes locally and they offer outstanding support throughout the duration of the 12 to 18-month programme. The NPQ programmes, as delivered via UCL’s IoE, are recognised and supported across the globe. The programmes offer a unique opportunity to network with other international leaders from across the Far East. The IoE offers additional support throughout the programme and at the final assessment stage, with a dedicated educational and administrative London-based team.
National Professional Qualification for Headship The National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) supports the professional development of aspiring and serving headteachers. In addition to the induction and five face-to-face (F2F) sessions, the NPQH programme follows a blended learning format. This consists of workplace learning and practice activities, peer and facilitated learning, reading, structured reflection, online learning and a 360 diagnostic assessment.
