Publication Requirements
The editorial committee will only receive for publication original, unpublished and up-to-date works that constitute an empirical or theoretical contribution of relevance. Reception of a work does not entail the Journal’s commitment to publication. The material sent will not be returned. It will be published in the original language of the article (French, Spanish, English, or Portuguese). The article should be sent only through the platform where the magazine is hosted http://revistas.pedagogica.edu.co/index.php/RCE/index »» Papers should not exceed 25 pages in length, in accordance with the following format: Word program, letter size, 1.5 spacing, Arial font, size 12. The margins established for the work are 3 cm for each side, 2 cm for the header, and 2.5 cm for the footer. The body of the text must not include any underlined or bold sections; in case a word needs emphasis, italics may be used. »» For bibliographic citations and references, the style of the last edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) must be followed. »» Footnotes will have a numerical sequence and should be kept few in number; That is to say, that they must be used to make clarifications to the text and not to quote books. The books consulted will only appear listed in the references. »» All pages should be numbered, including the ones with bibliographic references.
5
»» Each work must include an abstract of the work, not more than 20 lines in Spanish and its corresponding English version (including the title), as well as five keywords (minimum) in both languages. »» Submitting an article for publication implies the author’s authorization for reproduction and through any printed or virtual media, at any time that Revista Colombiana de Educación deems appropriate. »» The article, abstract and author’s information must be accompanied by a letter addressed to the Editorial Committee of the Journal, stating that the text presented is original and unpublished, meaning that it has not been partially or totally published in any printed or electronic medium and that it has not been submitted for consideration by another publication. »» A separate sheet should include the name of the author, the academic title that he/she has, indicating the awarding institution, his/ her mailing address, current employer and position, as well as telephone number and email address, adding references to published articles in other scientific journals, over the last two years.
Citation and References In articles, citations will be made according to the standards set by the American Psychological Association (APA) latest edition. When it comes to textual or direct quotes, that is to say that the exact words of another publication were transcribed, it is necessary to indicate the surname of the author, the year of publication and the page from which the quotation was obtained. Here is an example: “¿Dónde (y cuándo) viven aquellas personas que proclaman pomposamente sus derechos de propiedad sobre la tierra y el agua tomada de los negros a precios de remate después de traslados forzosos violentos? ¿En qué tiempo estamos viviendo algunos [...]?” (Asmal, Asmal & Suresh, 1996, p. 209).
In case of paraphrases or indirect quotes, that is to say that the author’s ideas are used but not in his own words, only the name of the author and the year of publication must be included. An example can be seen below: Según Preston King (2000), la mayoría de nuestras dificultades para comprender la idea de un pasado que continúa vivo en el presente descansan en una cierta confusión sobre lo que entendemos por presente y pasado.
6
A list with the bibliographical references used in the research and appearing in the text should be included at the end of each article. This list must be arranged alphabetically, according to the author’s last name following the rules established by the last edition American Psychological Association (APA). The title of this list should be References and each quote should be double-spaced from the other. Bibliographical references should include authors’ surnames and initials, article title, volume, and page numbers.
