Why Burnbrae? Our Production Process Is Superior To bring you the best quality possible, a great deal of precision and care goes into the production of every Burnbrae egg.
At various checkpoints throughout the grading process, small pegs are used to tap the eggs and monitor their frequency. This determines whether the egg has any cracks in the shell and if it has been compromised.
Our Grading Process The process begins when flats of eggs are lifted with gentle suction cups onto a moving conveyor belt.
Next, eggs are separated based on the size of their shell an weight requirements. From here, they are sent to find the packaging that fits.
The eggs are then vigorously washed and rinsed.
The eggs are then packed into cartons or fibre flats and ready to make an impression on consumers.
The eggs are now ready for inspection. This process is called candling and involves a strong light that is used to inspect the condition of the shell and looking for any irregularities in the egg.

BURNBRAE FARMS Burnbrae Farms offers liquid eggs and many other value added egg products that are nutritious, safe, sustainable and affordable. Our Liquid Egg Production Process Eggs come to us from local family farms including our own. Medium and small eggs are also included in the breaking process as shell eggs sold in grocery stores are mainly large and extra large. The separating process begins when flats of eggs are lifted with gentle suction cups onto a moving conveyor belt.

The eggs are then vigorously washed and rinsed. The eggs are now ready for inspection. This process is called candling and involves a strong light that is used to inspect the condition of the shell and looking for any irregularities in the egg.
Finally the eggs are packaged into convenient gable top cartons. The cracked eggs have passed inspection! Egg Creations and Naturegg Simply Egg Whites are stored in a temperature-controlled cooler until they’re loaded onto refrigerated trucks to begin their journey to grocery stores and businesses.
The eggs are broken and, depending on the product, the yolks and whites are either separated or blended together. Through the pasteurization process, the eggs are heated to eliminate any harmful bacteria. Egg Creations are mixed with the appropriate ingredients beforehand, while Naturegg Simply Egg Whites go straight to pasteurization.

We Care About Our Hens Healthy eggs start with a healthy hen. Our high standards for our products begin with ensuring the wellbeing of the animals we work with. At Burnbrae, we offer four different housing systems for our hens allowing us to provide our customers with a variety of egg products from organic to free range eggs.These housing options include: Conventional Housing - Hens are housed together in small social groups that offer easy access to food and water, and the eggs are collected by hand or conveyor. Enriched Housing - A more spacious alternative to conventional housing, enriched colony cages provide hens with room to perch and lay their eggs in a nesting area. It also allows scratch pads for hens to indulge in one of their natural instincts to dust bathe. Eggs are collected by hand or conveyor. Free Run - Hens are free to roam in open concept barns equipped with nests, perches and dust bathing areas. There is ample access to both feed and water. Free Range - All the amenities of Free Run housing, but with additional access to an outdoor area weather permitting. This allows the hens the opportunity to forage and express ‘ other natural behaviours.
