United in God’s Work

Who Our

WE ARE GUIDING PRINCIPLES: CRUSE

Food For The Poor is one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the United States providing long-term holistic solutions in primarily 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. We collaborate with trusted partners and supporters to facilitate paths out of poverty and into transformed lives.

(Collaboration, Right Things Right, Urgency, Stewardship, Engagement)

Our Christian faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion and motivated by love. We follow Jesus’ example by joining community faith leaders in service and love.

Remaining culturally sensitive, we work together and develop ways to magnify Christ’s compassion so that all may come to know Him.

Our guiding principles define how we operate and reflect the mission and vision of Food For The Poor. Our ministry reflects Christ’s unconditional love, an endless supply of His mercy, and His compassion for us all.

OurTHEORY OF CHANGE

The theory of change is a structured framework, whether in diagram form or written description, that outlines how our organization or program strategies translate into real-world outcomes. This methodology aids us in clarifying our goals and identifying the necessary steps to attain them. Change refers to the transformation or broader

social impact Food For The Poor aims to achieve in the world. The theory represents the strategic process guiding how this change can occur. Ultimately, the theory of change serves to enhance our organization’s understanding of its goals through meticulous planning and evaluation.

What

WE DO

Our goal is to deliver immediate relief to individuals facing poverty, empowering them to rebuild their lives, achieve independence, and inspire change in their communities.

By building connections, listening, planning, and working alongside in-country partners, individuals, and community leaders, we develop successful programs and solutions that tackle the causes of poverty and inequality. We help children and families reach their full potential.

Food For The Poor categorizes its work using 10 focus areas.

Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH)

EMERGENCY AID

Whenever the need arises, Food For The Poor stands ready to send immediate assistance to those affected by natural disasters.

FEEDING THE HUNGRY

Food For The Poor supports hundreds of foodgenerating projects and programs that help the hungry like school feeding programs, nutrition centers, agricultural programs, and more.

SHELTERING THE HOMELESS

Food For The Poor builds homes that are safe and sturdy, giving impoverished families peace of mind and helps with providing a fresh start in life. With our homes, families sleep more soundly and enjoy better health.

CLEAN WATER

Food For The Poor provides water wells, purification systems, hygienic sanitation facilities, and cisterns for villages in desperate need of a clean water source.

HEALING THE SICK

Food For The Poor provides medicine, medical supplies, and other lifesaving essentials to hospitals, clinics, and medical centers in the

countries we serve, allowing the destitute the care and attention they need.

EDUCATION

Educating children is one of our top priorities. We believe that education is essential for fully realizing the unique gifts God gave each one of us.

In addition to furnishing the needs of individual children with backpacks, clothing, and school supplies, we also help build schools and provide schools with furniture.

SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS

People use various abilities and resources to enhance their capabilities and make life meaningful. These capabilities are dependent on access to natural, human, physical, financial, social, spiritual, and cultural capital, which serve as essential assets. These assets are dynamic, and people continuously adapt and change them in response to both internal and external stressors.

PLANNED COMMUNITIES

In addition to feeding the hungry, providing access to life-giving water and building safe and sturdy homes, Food For The Poor builds communities that empower people through sustainable solutions to help families become self-sufficient.

PRIORITY COUNTRIES

Food For The Poor provides lifesaving support and development projects that help break the cycle of poverty in primarily 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In times of emergency in other countries not listed, Food For the Poor will provide support in response to the crisis where trusted partners have been established.

Where How WE SERVE WE WORK

EXPANSION COUNTRIES

OTHER COUNTRIES

Food For The Poor operates as a platform by fostering interactions that create significant value. At the heart of its operations is the establishment of an interconnected ecosystem, comprising donors, program participants, volunteers, and partner organizations, all working together to combat poverty.

The metaphor of “crossroads” serves well in capturing FFTP’s Christian values and its role as a platform. The Cross represents the intersection of the divine and the human as well as the meeting point of various stakeholders — donors, supported individuals, volunteers, and partners — all united in God’s work.
