D I R E C T O R ’ S N O T E S — E D WA R D M O R G A N This is a story of two young people swept up in the Great War. It’s a tale of falling in love and facing fears. But it’s also a dream of things remembered, and like a dream it layers and shifts space, time and even identity in a stream of theatrical consciousness. It’s a simple play in many ways, and yet it conjures an era, and a war, and calls to mind and memory the rush of first love and the poignancy of longing and loss. And finally, with a full heart, it speaks to the power of forgiveness and the beauty of letting go. A B O U T T H E P L AY W R I G H T — S T E P H E N M A S S I C O T T E Stephen Massicotte is a Calgary-based writer and actor. His award-wining plays include MARYS WEDDING, THE EMPEROR OF ATLANTIS, A FAREWELL TO KINGS and the one act plays HOMBRES and ONE HARD PULL. His play MY LIFE OF CRIME and his BOY’S OWN JEDI HANDBOOK series have been Fringe Festival and Calgary and Edmonton cult favorites. Stephen is presently the Playwright in Residence at Theatre Calgary and a frequent collaborator with Ground Zero Theatre. He has a Degree in Drama from the University of Calgary and has a black lab named Agnes.
