BIOGR APHIES ANDY CAMERON (Vice Principal Douglas Panch) at the age of eight, got knocked out of his first and only spelling bee when he over-thought the word TABBY. Since then Andy has abandoned spelling for a career in acting. He is excited to work in his first production with the Griffin Theatre Co. Past productions include, Night of the Magician, I Am A Rocket Scientist, Powerless, and The Narcoleptic Pillow Fight. Andy will be appearing in the upcoming independent films, Uncle John and Medal of Victory. He would like to thank his amazing wife Anne for all of her patience and support. Andy is exclusively represented by Paonessa Talent. DANIEL DESMARIAS (Leaf Coneybear) is excited to be back at Griffin Theatre where he was previously seen in Flare Path and The Stinky Cheese Man. Chicago credits include Pains of Youth (Odradek Theatre Company), Hit The Wall (The Inconvenience), Alice in Wonderland (Emerald City), The Diary of Anne Frank (Metropolis), and POWERLESS: Issues 1-3 (a comic book superhero play that was performed in a loft space above a Family Dollar). He was an Acting Apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville and Williamstown Theatre Festival. Daniel is a graduate of UC Berkeley where he studied Geography. Other well known Geography majors: Michael Jordan. CHARLOTTE MAE ELLISON (Olive Ostrovsky) is thrilled to make her debut with Griffin! She has performed around Chicago with Awkward Pause Theatre (Little Shop of Horrors, The Rocky Horror Show), Clockwise Theatre (Cars and Quinceañeras), 4

Chicago Fusion Theatre (Las Hermanas Padilla), and The Right Brain Project (The Archivist) among others. Regionally, she appeared at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (Circle Mirror Transformation). Charlotte is a company member with Tympanic Theatre (Brewed – co-production with The Ruckus, Wonderful, Muerte del Maestro), a founding member of Area IV Theatre (Bear Claw, March - Canadian Fringe tour), and a graduate of both Emerson College and the Gaiety School of Acting. LANDREE FLEMING (Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre) is thrilled to be making her Griffin Theatre debut. Chicago area credits include: Godspell and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre) at Theatre at the Center; understudying She Kills Monsters with Buzz22 as part of the 2013 Steppenwolf Garage Rep series; Mary Lane in Reefer Madness with Circle Theatre (Jeff Nomination for Best Actress in a Musical); Fiona in The Giver with Adventure Stage Chicago; and has worked with The Ruckus and ARC Theatre. You can see her bopping around town with her musical sketch comedy group, Off Off Broadzway. She would like to thank Griffin Theatre and everyone involved with the Bee! WILLIAM LUCAS (Chip Tolentino) is super pumped to spell some really hard words! Chicago Credits: A Cole Porter Songbook, Aspects of Love (Theo Ubique). CONOR MCCAHILL (William Barfee) is a 2010 graduate of the Theatre School at DePaul University where he received a BFA in Acting. He was born in the cold mountain air of Colorado and fell in love with theater at a young age integrating himself into every level of theater during high school where eventually he found a niche in playwrighting and on the stage itself. He is a working company member and resident writer of Nothing Without a Company with whom he is exploring new interests. His Chicago credits include Adventure Stage’s production of And A Child Shall Lead, Griffin Theatre’s No More Dead Dogs, Lifeline Theatre’s Mystery of the Pirate Ghost and The Artistic Home’s Jeff Recommended Beaten. He recently appeared in the 2012 indie film Nate and Margaret directed by Nathan Addloff and has a recurring role on ABC’s crime drama Betrayal. LAURA MCCLAIN (Rona Lisa Peretti) is thrilled to return to Griffin, where she previously appeared as Susan in Company. She has also worked with Lifeline (Pride and Prejudice - Jeff nomination), Circle (Death Takes a Holiday; The Philadelphia Story; Little Women), Vintage (Miss Julie), Bailiwick Rep (The Christmas Schooner - Jeff nomination; A Man of No Importance), BoHo (Jekyll & Hyde), Bailiwick Chicago, Quest, Apple Tree and Metropolis. STEVEN PERKINS (Mitch Mahoney) is E.C.S.T.A.T.I.C to be making his Griffin Theatre debut with this production. His favorite roles performed include Youth in Bailiwick Chicago’s Passing Strange, Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar with the Strawhat Players, and one out of three Wisemen in Congo Square’s Black Nativity at the Goodman. Most recently he was seen in Theo Ubique’s Smokey Joe’s Cafe at the Royal George Theatre. Steven is exceedingly grateful for the opportunity to perform, his supporters, and for you. Thanks for coming to see the show! ROCHELLE THERRIEN (Marcy) is delighted to be working Griffin Theatre Company. Recent Chicago credits include Jenny in Aspects of Love (Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre) (Jeff Nomination, Best Supporting Actress, Musical), Liberal Arts: The Musical! (Underscore Theatre Company), and East of the Sun, West of the Moon (Coriolis Theater Company). Rochelle received her BFA in Acting from Boston University and has also trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. SCOTT WEINSTEIN (Director) is thrilled to be working with Griffin Theatre! Scott is the Co-Artistic Director of Buzz22 Chicago where he most recently directed the Midwest premiere of She Kills Monsters as part of Steppenwolf Theatre’s Garage Series. Other credits include A Doll’s House, the Midwest premiere of Residue (Buzz22 Chicago); All-American (Redtwist); the world premieres of Baristas (New York International Fringe Festival and Ampersand (Bloomington Playwrights Project); and the first full productions of Murder For Two (Adirondack Theatre Festival, Hangar Theatre, 42nd Street Moon). Scott is the recipient of a Berkshire Theatre Festival Directing Fellowship and a Stage Directors and Choreographers Observership. He is currently the Associate director for the National Tour and Chicago productions of Million Dollar Quartet and has assistant or associate directed at Chicago Shakespeare, Pasadena Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse and many more. Scott is an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and a proud graduate of Northwestern University. Up Next: Miles Away at the Side Project MATT DEITCHMAN (Music Director/ Conductor) is an actor, composer, music director, and multi-instrumentalist whose recent credits include appearing in Godspell (Theater At The Center); Keyboard 2/Guitars for Shrek (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre); composer for She Kills Monsters (Steppenwolf Garage Rep). Upcoming projects include: Music Director/Orchestrations for Into The Woods (The Hypocrites at Mercury Theater) and appearing in Road Show (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre). Matt is also currently developing an original musical with writing partner Jed Feder and librettist Matt Boresi for the Music Institute of Chicago. 6

JULIAN PIKE (Lighting Design) is a freelance Lighting Designer based in Chicago who is pleased to be collaborating with Griffin Theatre once again: previous credits include Sleeping Ugly and The Constant Wife. Lighting Design credits include Chamber Opera Chicago, Chicago Folk’s Operetta, Porchlight Music Theatre, Seanachai Theatre Company, Lifeline Theatre Company, Bailiwick Chicago, The Strange Tree Group, Aloft Aerial Dance, Inaside Chicago Dance, Mordine & Co. Dance Theatre, Wild Claw Theater, Pine Box Theatre, and Evanston Children’s Theatre, among others. He holds an M.F.A. in Theatrical Design & Technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. JOE SCHERMOLY (Set Design) is a set designer, technical director and proud Griffin Theatre company member working across Chicago. His design work has been seen at Griffin Theatre (Flare Path, Punk Rock, No More Dead Dogs, Port, Constant Wife), Theatre Wit (Completeness), Strawdog Theatre (Duchess of Malfi, Master and Margarita, Richard III), Lifeline Theatre (The Count of Monte Cristo, The City and The City), Sideshow Theatre (Idomeneus, The Ugly One) Eclipse (Beyond the Horizon, The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek) and more. He has also designed and built shows in London for The Finborough, Bush and Gate theatres among others. Joe studied set design at Northwestern University and is the Technical Director at Lifeline Theatre. He has received two After Dark Awards and two Jeff Nominations. IZUMI INABA (Costume Design) is excited to be back at Griffin, where she has previously designed Stage Door, Spring Awakening, Burnt Part Boys, and Flare Path. She is an ensemble member at Red Tape and has been designing costumes for all their shows since spring of 2012, including most recent Madam Barker. M.F.A. in Stage Design, Northwestern University. CHRISTIAN GERO (Sound Designer/ Composer) is excited to be working with the Griffin again this season, where his designs have been heard for Flare Path (Jeff Award recipient), Punk Rock, and Port. Select Chicago design credits include columbinus (Jeff Award nominee, American Theatre Co.), Spunk and Invisible Man (Court), Dirty (Gift), OR, (Caffeine/Theatre on the Lake), as well as productions with Emerald City, and Buzz 22 Theatre Companies. When not designing sound for theatre, Gero is the Production Manager and In-House Engineer for the Chicagobased live recording company, MunckMix. He tours with The Allman Brothers Band as the live recording engineer, and has worked with many other musical acts including The Black Crowes, O.A.R., Rusted Root, Better Than Ezra, Ani DiFranco, Widespread Panic, and Arlo Guthrie. Gero has received an NAACP Image Award nomination for his work as an audio engineering. SAWYER SMITH (Choreography) is thrilled to make his Griffin debut. Choreography credits: Sweet Charity (Timber Lake Playhouse) Are You Hep to the Jive?!(CCPA) Assistant Choreography: The Pajama Game (The Music Theatre Company) He recently toured the Caribbean as Link Larkin in Hairspray on the Oasis of the Seas. Recent Credits include Hairspray (Drury Lane) A Chorus Line (Paramount Theater) Pippin(Bohemian Theater Ensemble) A Chorus Line, Children of Eden, Sweet Charity, Sunset Boulevard, Oklahoma, and CHICAGO (Timber Lake Playhouse). The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Sweet Charity, Sweeney Todd (CCPA). Sawyer is a recent graduate of the Theater Conservatory at the Chicago College of

SARAH BURNHAM (Properties Designer) is Chicago-based production manager and properties designer. Recent projects include: Assistant Production Manager for Old Jews Telling Jokes currently running at the Royal George. Production Coordinator for the summer season at Peninsula Players in Fish Creek, Wisconsin and production manager for It’s a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago! with American Blues Theater. Properties design for Fat Pig and The Internationalist with the Next Up series at the Steppenwolf Garage. Previous Griffin Shows include Flare Path (production management) and Kin (properties design). Up Next: Properties design for Detroit ‘67 at Northlight Theater, and Ripper at Roosevelt University. KATIE MESSMORE (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be working with Griffin Theatre for their 25th anniversary season on The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She worked with Griffin Theatre just recently on their outdoor Plays on Pavement Reading Series. She has previously worked with Lifeline Theatre on The Three Musketeers (Amanda Delhiemer Diamond) and The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost (Paul Holmquist). Some of her other favorite shows include: Bernarda Alba (Kimberly Senior), Equus (Cody Estle) and Splendora (Michael Ryzeck). Thanks to Bill, Scott, Matt and Griffin Theatre for this opportunity. Up next: Lyle the Crocodile Finds His Mother at Lifeline Theatre directed by Dorothy Milne. SPENCER NIEMAN (Assistant Director) is a recent Northwestern graduate. There, he worked on many shows as both an actor and director; his favorites include The WaaMu Show, The Drowsy Chaperone, True West, and Romeo and Juliet. He’d like to thank Scott and the Spelling Bee team for such a fun process and a wonderful introduction to Chicago storefront theatre. MAJEL CUZA (Production Manager) is excited to be working with Griffin for the second time!. She has worn many theatrical hats over the years working as a production manager, stage manager, and director around the city. She is the staff production manager at Red Tape Theatre, and earlier this year production managed The Lover for Soul Theatre and LeapFest 9 for Stage Left Theatre. She has also worked with Chicago ScriptWorks, Hunger and Dread Theatre, and Actors Revolution Theatre, Infamous Commonwealth Theater, Halcyon Theatre, and Rubicon Theatre Project. Thank you for coming tonight and enjoy the show! ANDREW GLASENHARDT (Technical Director) is excited to be working with Griffin Theater. Other shows he has Tech directed include Porchlight’s Double Trouble Theater Wit’s Mythical Proportions and Niles West High School’s Dream of the Burning Boy and Title of Show. Andrew has also worked as a Stage Manager, Master Electrician, and Production Manager for various theaters. Andrew sends his love to his beautiful wife, Dana. WILLIAM MASSOLIA (Artistic Director) is a founding member of the Griffin Theatre Company. He is the author of over 30 plays and adaptations including, Be More Chill, Little Brother, Stardust, Loving Little Egypt, Shakespeare’s Dog, Ash Can Alley, and The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. His play Letters Home recently

completed a 19 city National Tour of North America and his children’s play, Frindle was presented in 50 US cities since 2009. Massolia is a 7-time Joseph Jefferson Award nominee for his work as a playwright. A graduate of Southern Illinois University, Mr. Massolia is a past member of the League of Chicago Theatres Board of Directors, a recipient of an IAC Playwriting Fellowship Award and currently sits on the theatre advisory panel for the Illinois Arts Council. RICHARD BARLETTA (Artistic Director) is a founding member of the Griffin Theatre Company. In his almost 30 years of theatre he’s directed over 125 productions, many of these with the Griffin. Some of his favorites would include: Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, All The Way Home, Ah, Wilderness!, Shake Your Groove Thing, Shakespeare’s Dog, Ash Can Alley, Henry and the Second Gunman, A Night in Mantua, The Whipping Boy, There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom, Frindle, There’s a Girl in my Hammerlock and Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging, for which he received a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for direction. Richard holds an MFA in Directing from the Goodman School of Drama and a BS in theatre from the University of Evansville. In addition he has directed productions at the Theatre School, DePaul University and Loyola University in Chicago. He received Joseph Jefferson Awards for both directing and ensemble with the Midwest premiere of Stags and Hens.
