BIOGR APHIES Geoff Button (Director) is a recent graduate of Northwestern University’s MFA directing program and a longtime company member of the theater company The Hypocrites. He directed their productions of Desire Under The Elms and True West (Non-Equity Jeff Nominations - Best Play, Best Director) and assistant directed for Sean Graney there a number of times. He’s also assisted on productions at Chicago Shakespeare, The Marriott Theater Lincolnshire, The American Musical Theater Project, Famous Door and Steppenwolf. Also an actor, he has performed at several theaters around Chicago, including Apple Tree, Lifeline, The House Theater of Chicago, Defiant and The Hypocrites, where he received a Non-Equity Jeff for his performance in Equus. Most recently he directed Strawdog Theater’s production of State of the Union. He is really glad to be back at Mary Arrchie where he appeared in Cherrywood and also directed his first play in Chicago (Gator Power) for the Abbie Hoffman Festival. Shannon Clausen (Assistant Director) relishes the opportunity to unearth new works and breathe new life into old ones as Mary-Arrchie’s Literary Manager. Work at Mary-Arrchie include acting in Beggars in the House of Plenty and Cherrywood as well as assistant directing Mud People. She earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Theater and Acting from Illinois State University . Her acting credits in Chicago include Living Canvas in association with New Millennium Theater Company and Einstein’s Dreams with Moving Dock Theater Company. She is also a playwright always working to meld her two loves of sideshow and theater.
Richard Cotovsky (Max) is a founding member of MaryArrchie Theatre and serves as Artistic Director. He has been involved in every aspect of the theater’s functions from the first production which was Cowboy Mouth/4-H Club in 1986. He has appeared in The Pawnbroker, The Curse of the Starving Class, Edmond, Buried Child for which he received a Jeff Nomination, Fool For Love, The Homecoming, The Birthday Party, Killers, and Beyond Mozambique to name a few. He has directed The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Insignificance, The Killer and the Comic for which he received a Jeff Nomination, The Freedom of the City for which he received a Jeff Citation, Beyond Mozambique, Saved, and most recently How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found at Mary-Arrchie. He has appeared at other theaters including A Red Orchid, Strawdog, Latino Chicago, Steppenwolf, Remains, Blind Parrott, igloo, Americana, Blackbird, Prop, National Pastime, The Hypocrites, Steep, and Raven. He has directed at other theaters including A Red Orchid, Live Bait, Profiles, and The Shapeshifters. Most recently, he appeared in Cherrywood at MaryArrchie Theatre and just returned from Washington, D.C. where he played Arthur in Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts at the Studio Theatre. Joe Court (Sound Design) is excited to work on The Homecoming. He serves as Sound Engineer for Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theatre. He is a company member with MaryArrchie Theatre Company, where has designed many shows, including The Caretaker, Our Bad Magnet, and Mud People. His designs have also been heard at A Red Orchid, Seanachi, The Gift, Emerald City, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and The Clarence Brown Theatre in Knoxville, TN. He received Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. 3

Carlo Lorenzo Garcia (Producing Director) serves as Producing Director for Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co and has been an active member since 2005 and most recently appeared in and sound designed for Cherrywood directed by David Cromer. Directing credits include Toronto, Mississippi, Mud People and the Jeff Nominated Our Bad Magnet for Mary-Arrchie. Previous acting credits with Mary-Arrchie include: Cherrywood, How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, Buried Child, MOJO. Other Chicago credits include work with Strawdog, Greasy Joan & Co, Collaboraction, Teatro Luna, and Walkabout Theater at Lookingglass. M-A credits include Mud People and Cherrywood. He has most recently been seen on stage in Chicago with the Big Picture Group and in Kill The Old and Torture Their Young at Steep and prior to that in several productions at Miami University of Ohio where he studied theatre arts and performance. Luke Hatton (Teddy) welcomes the opportunity to be here at Mary-Arrchie. Regionally, he has performed at Geva Theater in Rochester, NY. Luke is currently the Artistic Director of Barrel of Monkeys- an arts education company serving underserved children in Chicago Public Schools. Much love to Oona, Royal and to both California families for being much more welcoming upon visits. Matt Hawkins (Fight Choreographer) Most recently he Directed the remount of Red Noses (Strawdog) was last scene as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire (Writers’ Theatre) and served as the Movement Director for Peter Pan at Lookingglass. Matt is a Founding Member of The House Theatre of Chicago, an Artistic Associate and Resident Director with Strawdog, an Artistic Associate with 500 Clown, the recipient of two NonEquity Jeff Awards and a graduate of Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. Izumi Inaba (Costume Design) is glad to be working with Mary-Arrchie for the first time. She is primarily a costume designer, whose works include Greensboro (Steep Theatre), Fantasticks (Porchlight Music Theatre), Stage Door (Griffin Theatre), Obscura (Red Tape), Cats (Theo Ubique ) and most recently CPS Shakespeare! Romeo and Juliet (Chicago Shakespeare). She returns to Northwestern University to teach theatrical makeup design this fall, where she earned her MFA in Stage Design. Coco Lee Remery (Paint Charge) is a scenic painter at night and court room sketch artist during the day. She has worked at numerous theaters including WNEP, Mary-Arrchie, Rivendell, Chicago Shakes, The House, Writers’ Theatre, Next, Victory Gardens, Timeline Theatre, Gift Theatre, The Lyric Opera House,

Most importantly, she is grateful for the opportunity at Mary-Arrchie and looks forward to working with them again. Kathy Logelin (Dialect Coach) is thrilled to be working with MaryArrchie again after dialect coaching How to Disappear and Never be Found. She recently coached The Importance of Being Earnest with Remy Bumppo, and Dracula with Idle Muse Theatre Co. Kathy is also an actor, and can be currently seen in Precious Little with Rivendell Theatre Ensemble where she is a company member. Kathy is a graduate of Illinois State University. Jack McCabe (Sam) is on Mary-Arrchie’s stage for the first time – well … not counting Abby Fests. Other appearances on “Broadway” (in Chicago between Grace and Buena!) include the Jeff-Recommended smash hit Men Of Tortuga at Profiles Theatre, where he was also seen in the awardwinning Autobahn and Strawdog’s Aristocrats, directed by Rick Snyder and Richard III. He has also appeared in performances at these theatres: at Steppenwolf, Victory Gardens, American Blues, A Red Orchid, The Gift, Provision, Collaboraction, The New Colony, Circle, National Pastime, Live Bait, European Rep, Promethean, The
Side Project and others. Film work includes indies : “Tapioca”,“So Many Days”,“The White Box”,“Me and My Shadow” and “Christmas Eve at McTavish’s” which he produced. On TV he has appeared in Fox’s hit “Murder In Smalltown X”, CNBC’s “Madoff Behind Bars” and several local series and commercials. Mary Patchell (Stage Manager) a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where she received her B.A. in Theater: Directing. She is thrilled to be back at Mary Arrchie! Favorite stage managerial credits include Toronto, Mississippi and Beggars in the House of Plenty with Mary Arrchie, the Misanthrope with Greasy Joan and Co, and Hot N’ Throbbing with Pine Box Theatre. Mary would like to thank her family and friends for their unending love and support. Michaela Petro (Ruth) Michaela is happy to be back at Mary-Arrchie in the company of this very talented cast. She was last seen here as Pam in Saved. She’s worked with a number of the storefront theaters in this town but her home is (proudly) Strawdog. You can see her there performing her late night show, The J & M Comedy Hour on March 19th and can also see her performing next at Steep in Festen. Thank you to Ernie. You are the most.

B I O G R A P H I E S ( c o n t .) Vance Smith (Lenny) is pleased to make his Mary Arrchie debut. As an actor, he has worked with Stage Left, Lifeline, Timeline, Hypocrites, Remy Bumppo, Northlight, Victory Gardens, and many others. Since the fall of 2009, he has served as Artistic Director of Stage Left Theatre, where he directed Andrew Hinderaker’s Kingsville and Jayme McGhan’s Mother Bear (part of LeapFest 7). As founding Artistic Director of Black Sheep Productions, he directed Steve Spencer’s Another Day in the Empire and Camp Freedom!, Andy Gershenzon’s The End and produced Will Eno’s The Flu Season. This spring he will direct the one-act Riverview by Aaron Carter for Theatre Seven’s Chicago Landmark Project. Thanks to Geoff, this terrific cast and also to Lindsey for rescheduling our vacation so I could do this.
Amanda Sweger (Scenic and Lighting Designer) is pleased to be torn between two things at once as the characters are in this play. Her Chicago scenic design credits include In Darfur at Timeline Theatre, Sunday in the Park with George at Porchlight Music Theatre, and the scenic and lighting design for Ghostbox with Infusion Theatre Company. Amanda has just completed her coursework for the M.F.A. Stage Design Program at Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, she designed the set for The Who’s Tommy, the lighting and the set for the Orlando, and the lighting for Mad Forest, Ghetto, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This summer she returned for her 4th season as the resident scenic designer at Timber Lake Playhouse, designing Chicago, Steel Magnolias, Oklahoma, Love, Sex, and The IRS, and Curtains.
