BIOGR A PHIES Jonathan ButlerDuplessis, Memphis Jonathan ButlerDuplessis is a Chicago actor and hails from Champaign, IL. He is a former member of Milwaukee Rep’s Artistic Intern Class of 2010/11 and is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a BFA in Acting. He was last seen throughout The Rep’s 2010/11 season in Cabaret, Death of a Salesman and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, a co-production of The Rep and the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Mykal Kilgore, Philly Mykal most recently was seen OffBroadway as Harry in Freckleface Strawberry. Other theater credits include: Hair (Broadway); King Lear (EPBB); 5 Guys Named Moe (Casa Manana); developmental readings of Rocket Science (director Kathleen Marshall) and Pippin (director Diane Paulus). Mykal has performed as a soloist at Joe’s Pub, Roseland, Birdland, The Laurie Beechman Theatre and The Kennedy Center. He is a member of “The Broadway Boys” and “The Broadway Inspirational Voices.” Mykal attended The Florida State University College of Music. Maurice Murphy, Detroit Maurice has appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Off-Broadway/ Regional credits include: Leap of Faith (Ahmenson Theatre, LA), Two Gentlemen of Verona (Shakespeare in the Park) and Wood. Recordings: The Broadway Boys: Lullaby of Broadway. Lee Summers, Playwright Lee Summers is an actor, writer, producer and composer. He has created a name for himself within the theater, film and television industries. He conceived and co-wrote From My Hometown and performed in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls. Summers has also contributed to film and television productions such as Malcolm X and Law & Order. Ty Stephens, Playwright Ty Stephens is the recipient of numerous musical and creative awards including Best Vocal Performance for B.E.T. Jazz Discovery in 1999 and 1st Place in the R&B category of the International Songwriting Competition in 2002. He is a singer, performer, songwriter and playwright. Stephens has worked in theater, appeared in many commercials and has recorded several albums and soundtracks. Herbert Rawlings, Jr., Playwright Herbert has been a performer since the age of two in a variety of theatrical performances both nationally and internationally. He is co-author of From My Hometown and the award-winning musical Do Wop Love. He has received the Fred Astaire Award for best male dancer in a Broadway musical and received a Desk Drama nomination for his performance in Dreamgirls. Kevin Ramsey, Director/ Co-Choreographer Kevin is thrilled to return to The Rep after creating such hits as Fire on the Bayou, Grafton City Blues (presently titled Chasin’ Dem Blues), Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul and Soultime: At The Apollo as well as directing the original version of From My Hometown and coauthoring/directing If These Shoes Could Talk. Presently he is creating a new musical, A Capella Humana, which will have a world premiere at the Delaware Theatre Company in December 2011. Enjoy!
Milwaukee Rep’s annual production of A Christmas Carol performed in the Pabst Theater. Aimee is the Resident Lighting Designer and Assistant Production Manager for Roosevelt University in Chicago, and, in addition, her freelance work landed her first Jeff nomination for Of Mice and Men in 2010. Matthew Myhrum, Scenic Designer Matthew Myhrum is a Set and Video Designer. He has created scenery and projections for: The Watsons Go to Birmingham and 1963 at Children’s Theatre Company; Chasin’ Dem Blues and Sam Cooke: Forever, Mr. Soul at Delaware Theatre Company; From My Hometown at the American Heartland Theatre and A Question of Mercy at the American Repertory Theater Institute. Scene Designs include: Betrayal at Penobscot Theatre Company; Home at Queens Theatre in the Park and Julius Caesar, Machinal and The Piano Lesson at Brandeis University. Scott A. Rött, Costume Designer Scott has designed previously for The Rep. His shows include Pearl Bailey . . . by Request, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, Blue Rose: The Rosemary Clooney Story, Hula Hoop Sha-Boop and Carolin’ Carolyn’s Comin to Town. Most recently Scott has designed costumes for Forward Theater’s Going to St. Ives, In The Next Room or the vibrator play and Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them. Currently Scott is the Costume Director for American Players Theatre and is a member of the Forward Theater Advisory Company. Aimee Hanyzewski, Lighting Designer Aimee is glad to be back in the Stackner Cabaret with Kevin Ramsey working on From My Hometown. She and Kevin have collaborated on such hits as Fire on the Bayou, Grafton City Blues and Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul. She also acts as the Associate Lighting Designer for 9 – Ten Chimneys
John is one of the principals of Tanner-Monagle, with years of experience in scoring, arranging and music composition for television, radio, industrial video and theater. His commercial music has won Golden Reel Awards, Telly Awards, national, regional and local American Advertising Federation “Addys,” Silver Microphone Awards and RAC Awards for retail advertising. John has also garnered both Gold and Platinum sales certification for his engineering work. His national television projects include scoring various PBS documentaries. He has written original scores and designed sound for theatrical productions at numerous theaters. He particularly loves the music of Stax, Motown and the Philly Sound! Leslie Dockery, Co-Choreographer Leslie made her Broadway directorial debut with Rollin’ on the T.O.B.A. Other directing/ choreographing credits include: the revival of Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope (Tony Award Season/Crossroads Theatre Company), Broadway Melody, Raising Hell and as associate choreographer for the original workshops of Broadway’s original Smokey Joe’s Café and Off-Broadway’s Beehive. Other Off-Broadway credits include choreography for Little Ham and From My Hometown, for both of which she received Audelco Award nominations. As a performer, Leslie Dockery appeared in the Broadway productions of Eubie!, Sophisticated Ladies, The Tap Dance Kid and Amen Corner. Resident Casting Director for Primary Stages, New York Classical Theatre, Capital Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company and more. NY Casting: The Cherry Sisters (Actors Theatre of Louisville); Eric Rosen and Matt Sax’s Venice (Kansas City Rep/CTG); Moises Kaufman’s Into The Woods and Mary Zimmerman’s The Arabian Nights. Sahba, Stage Manager Over the last 30 years, Mark has had the opportunity to work on many great plays with many talented people at Milwaukee Repertory Theater, from Kingdom Come to this production of From My Hometown. Some of the other productions at MRT that Mark has worked on include the Our Town tour to Siberia, M. Butterfly, Death of a Salesman, The Puppetmaster of Lodz, Soultime: At The Apollo and many others.

Jen Anderson, Stage Management Apprentice Jen is very excited to be a part of From My Hometown. This is her first production at Milwaukee Rep but is no stranger to theater in Milwaukee. She recently graduated from Cardinal Stritch University with a focus on Stage Management. Jen has been a part of Stage Management teams at Skylight Opera Theatre (The Producers, The Pirates of Penzance and Rent), Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (Duet for One, Young Playwrights Festival 2009/10 and 2010/11) and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts (Church Basement Ladies). She would like to thank her family, the CSU faculty, Mark, Ryan and ‘Big Head’ for their love and support. Enjoy the show!
