A F E W WO R D S F R O M T H E A R T I S T I C D I R E C TO R Welcome home! We have a new home at the North Shore Center of the Performing Arts, but our commitment to great music and great theater has not changed. When I think of home, I think of family. You are family. You come to our shows, bringing your friends and relatives to laugh, cry, and enjoy our company. You celebrate anniversaries, birthdays and holidays with us. We have welcomed your children and grandchildren to our YouthREACH programs, and we have all applauded their accomplishments. We are a family in every sense of the word. As our family, you supported us through the most difficult year in our history. Granted, this year may not be much easier, but because of you and your commitment to this family, we will be back and better than ever. You have made it clear that you are here for us, and we thank you. Thanks to you, we will continue to celebrate the musicals we all love. I need to thank the many people who made sacrifices and commitments this past year to support Music Theater Works. My gratitude goes out to our donors and subscribers for their financial support of the company, to our board of directors for their leadership, and to our education team for going the extra mile to create youth programs online. I am very grateful to our wonderful staff. Throughout this pandemic they have not only supported the company but also me, as I step into a new position amid so many challenges. Finally, I would like to thank our performers, orchestra, technicians, directors and designers. These artists have a deep commitment to our community, and help us to see the world in a more empathetic light. I am glad you are all part of our family. I must also thank the team working on this concert--the singers, band, artistic staff, and Martin Woods and Jermaine Hill for their high artistic standards and promoting a creative working environment. Finally, as I start this season and welcome all of our family back home, I would be remiss not to thank my family for giving me the support to live my dreams. I would especially like to thank my father for the traits he instilled in me that help me to get through the hard work of creating musicals. Thanks, Dad, for teaching me tenacity, kindness, and confidence. I hope you are proud. Thank you all for coming. Enjoy the show! Kyle A. Dougan Producing Artistic Director, Music Theater Works

Music Theater Works

A F E W WO R D S F R O M T H E C O - D I R E C TO R It is my great honor to join Music Theater Works for such an exciting and necessary show. I’ve always cherished my experiences here as a performer, but the opportunity to be part of the creative process for this company has been sensational. I’m grateful to Kyle Dougan, who after learning of my mother’s career in the 1960s as the lead singer of a girl group, became interested in the stories and anecdotes she shared with me. Through our conversations, Kyle and I both realized the importance of preserving this timeless music and the great potential it has to speak to audiences near and far. I can truly say that this show is not only dear to me, but will warm the hearts of all who are able to experience it. I dedicate these performances to my late mother, the singers, and musicians who paved the way for us during a time that was both challenging and unique. I hope you all enjoy some of the most treasured contributions to the American performing arts: the music of the 50s and 60s. Martin L. Woods Co-Director, LEGENDS OF THE 50s & 60s: GREATEST HITS
