Visual Arts Botanical Painting with Karin Savage of the American Society of Botanical Artists ( ASBA) Target age: 6 - 9 years old

Work with Arts Mill artist Karin Savage and discover the art of botanical illustration by learning how to observe and paint plants accurately. In this course you will be instructed on how to choose specimens for study as well as how to draw and paint from life in precise detail.

Open Figure Drawing at The Arts Mill Target Age: Adult

Develop your drawing skills the way the masters did, working from a live nude art model. This is an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. One model provides a variety of quick and sustained poses. Starting with gesture poses and slowly building to longer poses.

Artists are to bring all supplies. There will be a few drawing horses available (first come first serve).

Creative Craft Camp Target age: 4-6 years old

Discovery is the focus of this camp designed for the very young artist.

Artists will have fun playing with craft materials to discover shapes, patterns and colors.

Michelangelo’s Masters Target grades: 8-13 yrs old

Expression will be nurtured through hands-on mediums. Students will create from materials such as pencils, paint, and clay to create masterpieces.

PHOTOART Privates sessions - Take it off AUTO and use your digital SLR Learn to use the AE lock, what and how to use the Aperture Priority on your camera, Focus, Lighting, Exposure and use of ISO, Composition, Portraiture, etc, through indoor and outdoor experiences. Experiences will vary by amount of sessions students require/sign up for.

Performing Arts Jr. Stagekids Production “Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS”* Target age: 5-9 years old

This musical theater camp will introduce our youngest students who love to act, dance and sing into the theatre arts by combining educational games with instruction. While diving into the stage story of the beloved Winnie the Pooh and all his friends, students are introduced to theatre concepts in this fun, creative and nurturing environment. Because an audience is an important part of learning, this camp ends with a full performance of Winnie the Pooh Kids at NSAA to be enjoyed by friends and family!

Disney’s “The Lion King Experience” Target Ages: 7-12 years old

Does your kid love The Lion King? This camp is designed to identify, strengthen and enhance each student’s performance skills, self-esteem and self-expression. Campers will immerse themselves in the African savannah through a variety of crafts, games, and group work. They will receive training in ensemble work, choreography, improvisation, acting, staging and vocals while preparing to perform scenes from the Lion King before a live audience on Friday night.

Balancing Arts Yoga and Well-Being Studio:

A Place. A Space. A Community.

Dedicated to holistic well being, Balancing Arts Studio is a unified, cooperative of independent instructors and practitioners bringing their unique offerings to the mat to provide education and a variety of services in the movement and healing arts, including yoga and Ayurveda. All of the Life-Artistry Yoga classes taught by Sheri are an integrative, invigorating and relaxing experience. Sheri’s classes are an infusion of my training and experiences in Hatha, somatics, yin yoga, nidra, Kundalini and Thai, for a complete mind, body, breath experience. She includes an intention to inspire and elements of nature to ground. She incorporates Reiki and aromatherapy, Sound Energy (Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, gong bath, Harmonium) and guided and silent meditation. For all levels. Class is either held in our beautiful gallery in the historic Arts Mill, or outdoor nature deck on the river. She also offers Nature classes, where we hold class at a local nature preserve, aligning our inner nature with outer.

Target Age: Teen/Adult Come join the fitness party! Everybody is welcome. No dance or group fitness experience is needed.

Zumba is a total workout, combining elements of fitness-cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. Every class feels like a celebration!

The Arts Mill

The Arts Mill is situated in the historic Grafton Mill and houses more than sixteen artists’ studios. These working studios (located on the 2nd floor) are nestled around a central boutique which features a variety of unique items from local and regional artists. Our gallery on the third floor features rotating gallery exhibitions as well as is home to yoga and other healing arts.

There are rental opportunities for events and private parties on our beautifully renovated 3rd floor. For more information on leasing studio space, displaying your merchandise in our boutique or renting our room for your next party, please contact Paula DeStefanis at paulac@northshoreacademyofthearts.org.

We work in collaboration with the North Shore Academy of the Arts, a non-profit organization (located in Grafton, WI) offering programming in the visual, literary and performing arts.
