Putting It Together Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Directed by Brenda Didier September 2 thru October 16, 2011 At Theater Wit, 1229 W Belmont Ave. Putting it Together is the emotional story of the entangled relationships of five guests attending a Manhattan cocktail party as they are confronted with the troubles of marriage, infidelity and divorce. The production includes songs from Sondheim’s original musicals including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Merrily We Roll Along, Anyone Can Whistle, Sunday in the Park with George, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, The Frogs and Sweeney Todd.

A Catered Affair Chicago Premiere! A couple must decide whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to celebrate their only daughter’s marriage with a lavish catered affair, providing her with the joyful wedding they never had for themselves. A beautiful exploration of the resilience of love, A Catered Affair features a melodious, 50s-inspired score. The production received three Tony Award nominations, eleven Drama Desk Award Nominations as well as the Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Musical. PROFILES KAORI AOSHIMA (Wife) is making her Porchlight Music Theatre debut, and she is excited to be in one of her favorite shows. Born and raised in Yokohama Japan, she feels great sorrow for the disaster in her country. “People there need your help!” Recent credits include: Henry and Mom, South Pacific, The King and I, Miss Saigon, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... She wants to thank her husband Michael for his support and encouragement. KARMANN BAJUYO (Kralahomme/Simon of Legree) is making his Porchlight debut and is thrilled to be a part of this terrific production! He was last seen as “Jack” in Bailiwick Chicago’s critically acclaimed run of Joe DiPietro’s F**king Men. Karmann’s work also includes numerous industrial films, live industrials, commercials, print, and voice-over jobs around the country. The next big project for Karmann is the independent feature film Critical Nexus. He would like to thank his friends and family for always being there. BRIANNA BORGER (Anna Leonowens) earned her first professional theatre paycheck, at age 18, for performing the role of Anna in The King & I. At age 26, she landed the role of Anna in the International Asian Tour of The King & I, performing for audiences throughout China, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. Now, at 30, she could not be more thrilled to reprise this wonderful role at Porchlight Music Theatre, where she was last seen as the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods. Her

Chicagoland credits include The Three Musketeers at Chicago Shakespeare (World Premiere), Erika’s Wall at The Music Theatre Company (World Premiere), and the closing cast of The American Girl Review at American Girl Place. Other favorite credits include tours of A Christmas Carol and Gypsy (Mazeppa, perf. Rose), Always... Patsy Cline (Patsy Cline) and Nunsense (Sister Hubert) at the Armory Theatre, Assassins (Sarah Jane Moore) at the Alaska Shakespeare Festival, and many shows at the Wagon Wheel Theatre, where she met her wonderful husband Adrian Aguilar (catch him as Danny Zuko in Grease at ATC!). Brianna is an Admission Counselor for the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and is also a voice teacher, graphic designer, and one hell of a good cook. www.briannaborger.com CHRISTIN BOULETTE (Wife/ Tuptim Understudy) is elated to return to her artistic home, Porchlight Music Theatre. Christin’s Chicago stage debut was in the 2007 Porchlight production of A Wonderful Life (Dorothy) under the direction of fellow Artistic Associate, Rob Lindley. Other Porchlight credits include Nine (Freancesca/Claudia u/s) and Candide (Sheep and others, Cunegonde u/s) as well as projects with Off the Porch: Porchlight’s New Works Development Program. Other Chicago credits include shows with Theatre at the Center, Quest Theatre, Theo Ubique, Route 66 Theatre Company, Light Opera Works, Chamber Opera Chicago, City Lit Theatre, and the Goodman Theatre. She is an Artistic Associate of Porchlight and is excited to see what the future holds for this fabulous theatre company!

P R O F I L E S ( c o n t .) KARA CHANDLER (Wife) sported blonde curls in Porchlight’s first productions of Into the Woods at the Athenaeum and Theatre on the Lake. Her brunette incarnation has worked with Bailiwick, Prop Thtr, Light Opera Works, Bowen Park Opera, Sinfonietta Bel Canto, Oak Park Concert Chorale, Savoy-Aires and the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Co. She’s a jovial Monkey Mother of two.

household, speaks five languages, and has been fortunate to perform opera, musical theatre and oratorio in Asia, South America, Europe and the U.S. Favorite roles include Maria in West Side Story, Luisa in The Fantasticks, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro and Soprano Soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana. Chelsea is thrilled to be returning to Porchlight after performing in Pacific Overtures, and she would like to thank her wonderful family, friends and husband for all their love and support.

LUKE EMANO (Child of Siam) has had a great start in the artistic City of Chicago, Luke Emano has been involved in past productions of Miss Saigon and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. He has also performed in various shows at his school, Franklin Fine Arts Center, where he is currently playing Simba in The Lion King. This Renaissance Boy has also branched out in modeling, film and commercials, with the most recent being the lead role in a Columbia College Short Film and an ad for the American Lung Association. Off the stage, Luke enjoys the day-to-day wonders of childhood and peaks his interest into football, baseball, and horseback riding. Luke would like to thank his family, especially his sisters, Alexa and Miah, his dad and his GORGEOUS mom; his teachers from the Franklin Fine Arts Center, a VERY special thanks to Sadie and her mom, and Porchlight Theatre for this royally AMAZING and unforgettable experience.

KATE GARASSINO (Lady Thiang) is honored to be a part of Walter’s final production as Artistic Director in this production of The King &I. A recent 2009 Jeff Award Winner for Best Supporting Musical Theatre Actress in Bomb’s Away with Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Kate is delighted to be on stage again with this phenomenal cast. She has previously performed in many critically acclaimed Bailiwick Repertory Theatre productions including Jerry Springer the Opera, My Favorite Year, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Parade and Dr. Sex. She has also worked with the Silk Road Theatre Company, Apple Tree, Marriott Theatre, Famous Door, and TheatreBam, to name a few. In Ms. Garassino’s thirty plus artistic career, she has been fortunate to work with some of the greatest Chicago theater companies and now is thrilled to be making her Porchlight debut. Kate is also the General Manager and Founding member of the newly formed Bailiwick Chicago. Her love and gratitude to Eugene, Walter, Brenda and the Porchlight artistic and producing staff, her BC family, Mark, Kim, Ryan and her Indiana family, and mom. She dedicates her performance to her mother.

CHELSEA DOLINARHIKAWA (Understudy Lady Thiang) received degrees in Vocal Performance from Vassar College and Roosevelt University. Chelsea was raised in a multi-cultural 6 Porchlight Music Theatre


P R O F I L E S ( c o n t .) JOYCE HSHIEH (Wife/Topsy) (pronounced “Shay”) is originally from Canal Fulton, Ohio. She earned her B.F.A. in acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University in 2010. Some of her favorite Theatre School credits include Feste in Twelfth Night, directed by Catherine Weidner, Rose in St. Scarlet, and Lady Nijo/Win in Top Girls. She most recently made her film debut in an independent feature produced by Afflicted Pictures, tentatively titled Shelter, set to be released in 2011. WAYNE HU (The King of Siam) is pleased to make his debut with Porchlight Music Theatre this April. Since discovering the stage less than a decade ago, he has already performed with some of musical theatre’s biggest names, including Tony-winners Brian Stokes Mitchell, George Hearn, John Lloyd Young and Patti Lupone, as well as stars of TV and film such as Lea Michele and Melora Hardin. He was first seen on the Chicago theatre scene in Ravinia Festival’s Annie Get Your Gun (Featured Trio) with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra last summer. Career highlights include LAPHIL’s staged concert of Les Misérables (Brujon/Foreman) at the Hollywood Bowl, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms (baritone soloist) at New York City Ballet’s Opening Night Gala 2008 at Lincoln Center. Other musical/theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius) with Tri-State Actors Theatre, Sweeney Todd (Anthony cover) with The Princeton Festival, and The King & I with Allenberry Playhouse (title role), Arkansas Repertory Theatre (LunTha), and Gretna Theatre (LunTha). Operatic engagements include Carmen (Moralès) with The Princeton Festival, Tosca (Sciarrone) with Hudson Opera

Theatre, La Traviata (Marquis d’Obigny) with Metropolitan Lyric Theatre of New Jersey, The Magic Flute (Speaker) with Pine Mountain Music Festival, and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Starveling) and Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette (Gregorio cover/matinée cast) with Opera North. Mr. Hu recently completed all coursework at Indiana Jacobs School of Music in December and will receive a MM in voice upon successful completion of exams. He also holds a BM in voice education from The College of New Jersey. He is a member of Actors Equity Association and American Guild of Musical Artists. LYDIA HURRELBRINK (Child of Siam) is so excited to work on her first Porchlight Production. Lydia is in the 7th grade at The Frances Xavier Warde School in downtown Chicago. Lydia’s favorite thing to do outside of school is sing and act. She played the role of Kim McAfee in her school play Bye, Bye, Birdie, and acted in School House Rock, Godspell, and The Paper Bag Princess. Lydia has been involved with Li’l Buds Theatre Company in Chicago since she was in first grade. Her credits with Li’l Buds include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Honk, Jr., Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Dear Edwina. Lydia has also been singing with the choir and as a soloist on occasion at Old St. Patrick’s Church since she was 8 years old. When not at school, Lydia can always be found singing a song for everyone around. JILLIAN ANNE JOCSON (Tuptim) is thrilled to return to Porchlight Music Theatre where she appeared as Ruth Reynolds in A Wonderful, and Phantom. Chicago Porchlight Music Theatre 7

And especially Wally and Eug for giving her the chance to play a dream role! Mahal Kita! ERIK KAIKO (LunTha) returns to Porchlight Music Theatre after tumbling around the stage in Pacific Overtures. He was most recently seen in the U.S. premiere of Departure Lounge with Bailiwick Chicago. Around town, he’s also worked with Marriott Theatre (us Pinocchio), Chicago Shakespeare Theater (Disney’s Aladdin, us Funk It Up About Nothin’), Noble Fool Theatricals (Spelling Bee), Silk Road Theatre Project (Durango, Silk Road Cabaret), Promethean Theatre (The Fantasticks), Caffeine Theatre (Many Loves), and Bailiwick Repertory (Zanna Don’t!, bare:a pop opera). Erik is a proud alum of Northwestern University. Next up: understudying DHH in Silk Road’s Yellow Face. Many thanks to Megan and the Kaiko family! DYLAN M. LAINEZ (Child of Siam) is a fun-loving 7-year old, who embraces the magical world of The Arts. He attends 1st grade at Nature Ridge Elementary School in Bartlett, IL. Dylan’s love of the Arts was realized at the age of 4 when he was cast as Tam in Miss Saigon at Drury Lane Oakbrook. Other roles Dylan has played include Tommy in The Who’s Tommy at Circle Theatre, Immigrant boy/ensemble in 8 Porchlight Music Theatre

Let It Be a Beatles Musical produced by Epic Theatre Company, and performed in the Choir in Laika’s Coffin for Redmoon at the Museum of Contemporary Arts. He represented Drury Lane in a performance for Miss Saigon at the 2009 Jeff Awards. Dylan attends the Performing Arts Academy at Fox Valley Repertory and performed in academy shows including Show Choir, Peter Pan, Lion King, and was recently cast as Bear in Snow White. In addition to theatre he has experience in Industrials, Prints, and Film for Samsung, Nike for Kohl’s, McDonald’s, One Step Ahead, Blackhawks Promo, Pop Tarts, Warner Brother’s Contagion, music videos and short films for Columbia College and School of Art Institute of Chicago. Dylan, along with his proud parents, Danny and Carmen, and “Kuya” Christian wish to extend their gratitude to Porchlight Theatre for allowing him this wonderful opportunity to work with an amazing talented cast and crew. Dylan express a heartfelt thanks to so many family and friends who continue to support him as he now journeys to Siam. SADIE MILLS (Child of Siam) is honored and thrilled to make her debut with Porchlight Music Theatre. A rising 4th grader at Franklin Fine Arts Center, Sadie studies piano, dance, drama and art. She most recently played Louisa Von Trapp, in the Sound of Music segment of their Spring Big Show. Other credits include Maya in a corporate short film, The Big Job, and a ghost storyteller for Pop-Tarts’ Halloween web commercials. Sadie is a 2nd year participant of Girls On The Run—a youth development program that combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. She was also a member of Chicago Public School’s All City


P R O F I L E S ( c o n t .) Youth Chorus, where she performed at Navy Pier, Chicago Symphony Center and in Puerto Rico. Other hobbies include: shopping, playing guitar and hanging out with friends. Sadie would like to thank her family for their love and support, the cast for welcoming her to the stage, and Walter for this amazing opportunity. SHANNON MULVEY (Eliza) a Lake Forest native, is a recent graduate with a BFA in Dance from Jacksonville University as a Merit Scholarship Student. She performed in numerous countries including Germany, Netherland Antilles, and Costa Rica. Since moving back to Chicago, Shannon has performed in Cats with Theo Obique, Dance in The Parks and Dance Chance Relux. She is excited to be starting her professional career back in Chicago. Shannon is very excited to be making her Porchlight Music Theatre debut with The King and I. RICHARD NAVA (Prince Chululongkorn) has appeared in several performances including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, as Joseph, Rent, as Rodger, and Big the Musical, as Billy. He has recently appeared in Company as Paul. Richard is a sophomore at the Chicago Academy for the Arts as a Musical Theatre concentration. Richard would like to thank Porchlight Music Theatre for welcoming Richard into their family. He would also like to thank all of his friends and family, and especially his mother, Trisa, for their continued love and support.

BENJAMIN PARKHILL (Louis Leonowens) is 10 years old, and lives with his family in Wilmette where he attends Highcrest Middle School. Most recently seen as Gavroche in the New Trier production of Les Miserables, Ben has performed on stage and film since he was 7. When he’s not singing, Ben loves playing games with his friends and family. His favorite game this year has been Killer Bunnies, and his favorite song not from the King and I is “Master of the House.” CHIP PAYOS (The Interpreter) was last seen on the city stage in Bailiwick Chicago’s successful offering of Elton John’s Aida. He traveled with the Joel Hall Dancers to the UK for Leap Theatre’s Dance Series in New Brighton, England last fall. His most memorable shows in theatre are: Pacific Overtures at Porchlight, Gigi & Kiss Me Kate at Light Opera Works, La Cage Aux Folles at Theatre at the Center, The King & I at Drury Lane Oakbrook, My Favorite Year and Kiss of the Spiderwoman at Bailiwick, Romance of Magno Rubio at Victory Gardens and Chicago at Pheasant Run. He appeared in the major motion picture Just Visiting and independent short films Seance and RSVP. He choreographs & has performed with Pintig Filipino Theatre in past shows Wa Etching, Sister Outlaw, Mr. & Mrs. La Questa, etc, etc, etc! He feels blessed to work once again with the brilliant Porchlight team of Walter, Eugene & Brenda Didier. Chip dedicates this performance to his family & friends & most especially to Gordon, like in the story “King & I”, to revisit the (dis) harmony of East & West.

LINDSEY PEARLMAN (Child of Siam) has been singing and dancing since the age of three but didn’t officially take the stage until she was six when she appeared as Lydia Snoop in The Great Ghost Chase. She loved it so much she hasn’t left the stage since! She has played principle roles in School House Rock, Fee Fi Fo Fum, Shoemaker and the Elves and also appeared in Porchlight’s Miracle on 34th Street this past winter. In 2009 Lindsey served as National American Miss National Cover Girl and in 2010 won the Miss Vernon Hills crown for the Jr. Pre-teen Pageant. Lindsey loves to be in any production where she can meet new people and make new friends. She thanks her coaches from Wishing Star Theatre, Linda Klepac and Jim Shedd for their wonderful inspiration and her family for their loving support. TATUM PEARLMAN (Child of Siam) has been singing and dancing as long as she could walk and talk! Her credits at Wishing Star Theatre in Libertyville include feature roles in Monsters in the Closet, Fee Fi Fo Fum, The Shoemaker and the Elves, School House Rock and, her favorite, Disney’s Camp Rock. She has also held the National

America Miss 2010 Miss Vernon Hills Title and the Miss COED Talent title. Her favorite things to do include playing school and dressing up in her moms shoes. He leaves Porchlight to become the Executive Director of the Mercury Theater Chicago. In this role Stearns will champion Chicago artists and productions. Ms. Didier is a freelance director/choreographer based in Chicago and the Artistic Director/ Owner of the Lincolnshire Academy of Dance, now in its 13th Season. Ms. Didier recently directed and choreographed the critically acclaimed and extended production of Cats for Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre. KINCAID (Stage Manager) The King & I marks Jenn’s eighth show with Porchlight and sixth collaboration with the directing team of L. Walter Stearns & Eugene Dizon. Recent credits include work with Collaboraction, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The American Theatre Company, The Next Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Teatro Luna, Sinnerman Ensemble and Walkabout Theatre. Mac is also the master electrician for Timeline Theatre, The Next Theatre, the American Theatre Company and Light Opera Works. In his spare time, Mac works as the Executive Vice President for Studio BE, a notprofit performing arts training and development center and performance venue in Lakeview. JONATHAN HEURING (Managing Director) is in his 2nd season as Porchlight’s Managing Director. He has been an active member of the Chicago theatre community, having worked in all aspects of theatrical production in the Chicago area for the past 16 years. The majority of that time was 9 years at Victory Gardens Theater, where he helped produce over 60 world or regional premiere productions. He was also an integral part of the multi-year renovation of the historic Biograph Theater into the 299 seat Zacek-McVay mainstage and 120 seat Richard Christiansen Theatre. He has worked with countless other companies in the Midwest, including Indiana Repertory, Emerald City, TimeLine, Famous Door, Lifeline, Center Theatre Ensemble, Jam Theatricals and Oak Park Festival, and has worked as a consultant for non-profit software development and theatrical facility renovation. He is a proud graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, is an artistic advisor to Premiere Theatre and Performance, and is an original member of the Joseph Jefferson Awards Arts & Technical Committee.

September 1995 William Eric Bramlett directs Porchlight Theatre Ensemble’s first production—the world premiere of Women Who Love Science Too Much. October 1995 Porchlight stages the Chicago premiere of Hartmann and Keys’ Macabaret. A favorite with Porchlight audiences, the show with regular revisions delights audiences in 1996, 1997, and 2006 and an updated version in October 2009. 1996 Recognizing enthusiastic response to its musical productions and the Chicago theater community’s needs, Porchlight becomes Chicago’s only theater company committed exclusively to music theater. June 1998 Beloved music talent Eugene Dizon music directs the world premiere of The Vanishing Point, the first of 34 Porchlight shows he’ll direct. November 1998 Artistic Director L. Walter Stearns makes his Porchlight debut as he directs Ruthless! in a co-production with his Effective Theater Company. April 1999 The City of Chicago premiere of Falsettos marks Porchlight’s special affinity for the musicals of William Finn. 2000 To reflect better its mission and vision, Porchlight Theatre Ensemble officially becomes Porchlight Music Theatre Chicago. March 2000 Walter Stearns and Eugene Dizon collaborate on the first of twelve Stephen Sondheim productions—Merrily We Roll Along. 2004–2005 Porchlight Music Theatre celebrates its tenth anniversary and its first season as an Equity theater which results in ten Jeff Award nominations and five awards. Spring 2005 Porchlight produces the first-in-the-nation William Finn Festival which receives national attention. The dynamic duo of Porchlight artistic associates Rob Lindley and Doug Peck direct their first celebrated annual cabaret review—afFINNity: Chicago Sings William Finn. January 2007 Porchlight stages The Teapot Scandals, the world premiere of artistic associate Jon Steinhagen’s show incubated and developed through Porchlight’s Off the Porch program for new works. The Teapot Scandals merits a Jeopardy question. April 2007 Ragtime is produced on the Porchlight stage, setting box office records and garnering a summer transfer to the Apollo Theater. It later becomes the most awarded musical at the 2007 Jeff Awards, including Best Musical.
