A MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR – BILL THEISEN Welcome to our second world premiere of the season with this incredible production of Daddy Long Legs, a show the Huffington Post called “the most deeply adored new musical of the 21st century.” Based on the classic book of the same name by Jean Webster, Daddy Long Legs is musical storytelling at its very best. It is a great pleasure to welcome Robert Adelman Hancock back to the Cabot stage playing the title role. Robert first appeared in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum back in 2000 and then spent a year as a Skylight Resident Artist. We are also thrilled to have Megan McGinnis making her Skylight Music Theatre debut in the role of Jerusha Abbott. These two performers have created these roles and have truly made them their own. I am also very proud to announce my final season as artistic director of Skylight Music Theatre and want you to know that you are in for a treat. We open the season with the Midwest Regional Professional premiere of the Broadway hit Avenue Q, and then continue with the world’s most beloved musical The Sound of Music just in time for the holidays. Next up in the Studio Theatre the brilliant mind of Dale Gutzman brings us another fresh take on two of our favorite collaborators with Here’s a Howdy Do - The Mischievous World of Gilbert and Sullivan. Then for the first time on the Cabot stage we are thrilled to present Skylight favorite Leslie Fitzwater in Edith Piaf Onstage, a tour-de- force of the brilliant chanteuse. We follow that with the very first county music show in Skylight’s history, Pump Boys and Dinettes which the New York Times called “Both musically and theatrically a triumph of ensemble playing. Pump Boys doesn’t merely celebrate the value of friendship and life’s simple pleasures, it embodies them.” Our second Studio Theatre show brings Milwaukee’s favorite cabaret couple, Kay Stiefel and Jack Forbes Wilson to Skylight with the delightful Sing Me a Story. And we close with this unprecedented season with Gershwin’s American Folk Opera masterpiece Porgy and Bess - another Skylight premiere. Seven captivating shows and seven unique points of view - just what you have come to expect at Skylight Music Theatre… where we make your night sing!

A MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR – AMY S. JENSEN Welcome to the Milwaukee premiere of Daddy Long Legs. I still remember Bill excitedly calling me late one evening after having seen Daddy Long Legs at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in Ohio. He was so taken with the show and knew how perfect it would be for the Cabot Theatre that he couldn’t wait to call me. To be a part of a six group consortium giving life into this charming piece that deserves to be destined for Broadway, to bring a former Skylight Resident Artist, Rob Hancock, back to Milwaukee as a part of this production and to provide our audiences with one of the first opportunities to see this wonderful new musical were exciting and compelling reasons to bring this show to the Skylight. The story is also a true celebration of learning and the ways in which a joy of learning can expand your horizons and forever change your life. This past summer, I heard from a friend about a mother-daughter book club to which she and her daughter belong with four other mothers and daughters. Daddy Long Legs sprang to mind immediately and I suggested that they consider selecting it as one of their books this year. They did and enjoyed it so much that they will be coming to see the show and added June Webster’s sequel, Dear Enemy, to their reading list as well. Thanks to a generous grant from Service Club of Milwaukee, Skylight has also been able to work with local libraries, the Girl Scouts and the Boys and Girls Clubs to provide copies of the book and an opportunity to see the production. Finally, and sadly, Skylight and the entire Milwaukee community recently had to say a fond farewell to one of its greatest supporters and leaders with the passing of Harry Franke. Harry served on the Skylight Board from 1986 to 1997 and remained on our Board of Advocates until his death. Harry embodied the spirit of the story of Daddy Long Legs in so many ways - he supported the community through the Harry and Mary Franke Idea Fund, he provided scholarships to young scholars, he loved learning and was so enthusiastic about everything he did. And so, we would like to dedicate Daddy Long Legs to Harry in honor of his love of music, his love of language, his love of learning and his unwavering love and support of his hometown.
