D I R E C TO R ’ S N O T E S It is always a delight to help John shape his wonderful work. A Midsummer Night McGivern was a journey through the summer months and John’s coming of age. Winter Tales was a journey through the winter months and a reflection on John’s family at home. Now Home for the Holidays takes us out and about the streets, at church, at school, and all up and down the block. And once again, John’s childhood springs to life with a batch of stories that are fresh, familiar and hilarious. The mundane becomes magical, the everyday is a fountain of amusement, and John conjures it all with a big playful heart. What could be better for an evening of holiday cheer?

BIOGR APHIES John McGivern - John is a member of Milwaukee’s #1 Morning Radio show with Dave and Carole on 96.5 WKLH. He was seen on Milwaukee’s WTMJ-4 with his entertainment segment called The Daily Dish McGivern Style and can be seen doing special projects for MPTV and TIME WARNER. You may remember John from his PBS Specials A Midsummer Night McGivern and the twice Emmy-nominated, Early Stories of John McGivern. John can be seen on TIME WARNER in Journeys with John McGivern and as the host of East Town’s Battle of the Chefs. John is proud to have been part of We’re Funny That Way on HBO and Out There II on Comedy Central. PROGR A M Act 1 Scene One – The Christmas Party Our story opens at a Christmas Party given by the Silberhaus family. Their children, Clara and Fritz, along with other children, anxiously await the arrival of one last guest the mysterious Drosselmeyer. His arrival seems ominous to the children at first, but their fears soon are dispelled as he passes out toys to one and all, and to entertain the adults, sets mechanical dolls into magical lifelike motion. He gives Clara the best present of all, a toy soldier nutcracker. All too soon the party comes to an end, Clara and Fritz are put to bed, as the guests and magical Drosselmeyer leave.
