T H E S TO R Y DEER CAMP hilariously follows four fearless deer hunters from Elmwood on their annual trek to deer camp. But things are looking bleak this season. After decades of hunting trips, the guys have yet to bring home a single deer and the wives are getting suspicious. This season their wives demand proof of their hunting skills be by bringing home a deer. This is not so easy when the thought of drinking beer and hanging out in the deer shack is more appealing than freezing in a deer stand. What to do? Shoot one, steal one, or buy one? Laugh and sing a long as they hatch a plan to save their hunting paradise without firing a shot. The show features hilarious songs like: Mighty Hunters. CHRISTINE BARKLEY – APA ABOUT ABBA MANIA It’s now been 31 years since Abba last toured and as you can imagine in 1979 requests for tickets far outstripped availability with two Royal Albert Hall performances receiving 2 million requests for tickets, with only 5000 available. In short, it was the hottest ticket in town. Even today ABBA MANIA continues to grip the nation with countless tributes on television, radio and of course with the hugely popular stage hit Mamma Mia, now a feature film, so there are no signs that this popularity is slowing down! ABBA MANIA the concert takes you back in time by recreating one of the world’s finest pop groups in a live stage performance. This highly polished and professional production was created in 1999 and played its first shows in 2000. In 2002 ABBA MANIA was invited to perform at London’s West End and played for 18 weeks at the Strand Theatre. In November 2002 the show made its German debut at the Deutsches Theatre Munich where it sold every seat in the house for 21 performances. In 2003 the show was presented with a prestigious Radio Regenbogen award for the best musical of 2002, (fellow winners that year were Tom Jones and meatloaf ). In the same year ABBA MANIA toured extensively throughout Europe selling out theatres wherever they performed, including 24 consecutive shows in the Schiller Theatre in Berlin, and Cologne Arena selling 10,000 tickets in one night. The highlight of 2004 was playing a television special. Viewed by over 11 million people and broadcast throughout Europe, the show celebrated thirty years since Abba came to prominence with Waterloo (Eurovision 1974). Fellow performers included original members of the ABBA band, stars from the musical Mamma Mia and even the iconic Bjorn Ulveus made an appearance. Both the 2005 and 2006 tours were a great success with ticket sales for most venues selling out long before the show hit town, and this year’s tour, boasts a brand new production, new costumes, new stage set, and will be performing all your favorite ABBA hits. So we look forward to welcoming you back this year and will ensure that once again you’ll be “having the time of your life”. The show has toured internationally in regions as far afield as Venezuela, North America, Tahiti, Mexico, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg, and many more, making this the world’s most successful touring ABBA show. GEORGE GERSHWIN (1898-1937) born in Brooklyn, New York on September 26, 1898, began his musical training at thirteen. in 1924, when George teamed up with his older brother Ira,“The Gershwins” became the dominant Broadway songwriters, creating such musical comedy hits such as Lady, Be Good! (1924), Oh, Kay! (1926), Funny Face (1927) and Of Thee I Sing (1931), the first musical comedy to win a Pulitzer Prize.

W H O ’ S W H O ; C A S T & C R E AT I V E T E A M ( c o n t .) Starting with his early days as a composer of songs, Gershwin had composed classics such as Rhapsody in Blue (1924), Concerto in F (1925) and An American in Paris (1928). The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (co-written with DuBose and Dorothy Heyward and Ira Gershwin) was the Gershwin brothers’ most ambitious undertaking, tightly integrating unforgettable songs with dramatic incident. In 1937, George Gershwin was at the height of his career. It was in Hollywood, while he was working on the score of The Goldwyn Follies, that George collapsed and died of a brain tumor; he was not quite 39 years old. IRA GERSHWIN (1896-1983), the first songwriter to receive a Pulitzer Prize (for Of Thee I Sing, 1932), wrote hundreds of songs for Broadway and Hollywood with his brother George. He also collaborated with other major composers, including Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, Arthur Schwartz, Kurt Weill, Harry Warren, Burton Lane, Aaron Copland, and Vernon Duke. During his career, Gershwin was nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Song (They Can’t Take That Away from Me, Long Ago (and Far Away), and The Man That Got Away). He took great pride in his contributions to the now-classic opera, Porgy and Bess (1935), and in his acclaimed book, Lyrics on Several Occasions (1959), an annotated compendium on his lyrics. RAY RODERICK (Writer / Director) has performed on Broadway in shows including Grind, Cats, The Wind in the Willows, Crazy for You, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In 2000 he served as associate director for the Broadway revival of The Music Man, and has since directed numerous regional, off-Broadway, and tour productions, including the first national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He has combined his knowledge of directing, writing, and choreography to collaborate on several original productions including The Prince and the Pauper, The Ark, Heaven Help Us!, and I Love New York, as well as Are We There Yet? and Coming to America with partner James Hindman. years from inexpensive and experimental theatre to a vibrant and exciting form of commercial entertainment that has attracted Broadway producers and notable celebrities. Off Broadway Booking is dedicated to the promotion and awareness of Off Broadway as a brand of excellence in theater to audiences outside of New York City. Off Broadway Booking creates an economically viable model of success for each touring production and successfully fills the void of quality commercial theater that can tour at an affordable rate. By doing this, Off Broadway Booking opens up the touring markets to small and mid-size theaters that otherwise cannot afford commercial productions, while still providing quality Broadway level programming to the larger markets across the country. Whether you are looking for a single night engagement or a headliner for your series, Off Broadway Booking is ready to meet all your creative and financial needs by bringing you the very best in theatrical entertainment. PITTSBURGH CLO (Van Kaplan, Executive Producer) has been a driving force behind the preservation, creation and promotion of live musical theater since 1946. As one of the largest regional musical theater organizations in the country, Pittsburgh CLO is fortunate for the yearly support of nearly 200,000 patrons. In addition to producing fresh new productions of Broadway classics, the non-for- profit’s mission is to develop new works and showcase new talent. The organization’s dedication to musical theater extends beyond its six-show summer season to year-round programming at its 250 seat CLO Cabaret Theater, which this summer saw the world premiere of ‘S Wonderful: The New Gershwin Musical. Ongoing initiatives are the Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theater, CLO Mini Stars, the Construction Center for the Arts, The Richard Rodgers Award, and the acclaimed Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater, a 20 year-old program and first of its kind in the country. It is also a founder and co-producer of the National High School Musical Theater Awards. In 1997, the organization expanded its mission to include developing and producing new musicals for touring and Broadway, where it is represented this season by Come Fly Away and The Addams Family.
