BIOGR APHIES Rita Harvey Rita performed on Broadway in the role of Hodel in the latest revival of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by David Leveaux and starring Rosie O’Donell and Harvey Fierstein and Alfred Molina. After covering the two older daughters, she took over the role of Hodel and can see seen in the role at the Lincoln Center Archives. She made her Broadway debut performing the lead role of Christine Daee in The Phantom of the Opera, after two and a half years performing the role with the second national tour. Rita created the role of Lady Edith in the off-Broadway hit musical The Prince and the Pauper. At the Irish Repertory Theatre, she played the role of Ethel Chichester in Peg O’ My Heart. Rita also created the role of Elizabeth in the highlyacclaimed concept CD/DVD of Frankenstein the Musical available on Amazon.com. Regional productions include Diana in Next to Normal (Theatersquared), Laurey in Oklahoma! and Johanna in Sweeney Todd (both at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater), Julie Jordan in Carousel, Christine in Maurey Yeston’s Phantom, Amalia in She Loves Me, Fiona in Brigadoon, Ann Collier in 1940’s Radio Hour, Katrin in the play I Remember Mama, and Rose in Street Scene. Rita majored in Opera Performance at Simpson College and then received her Master’s degree at Northwestern University. Favorite opera roles include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Rose in Street Scene, Laurie in The Tender Land, Marcelline in Fidelio, and Monica in The Medium. She can be heard on recordings of The Prince and the Pauper, Tim, A Tale of Two Cities,Big: the Musical, Frankenstein: the Musical and now, Fiddler on the Roof. Rita is the principle soprano in Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway, which was voted 4

the number one touring concert in the country. She has performed with such stars as Robert Evan, Liz Callaway, Betty Buckley, Ben Vereen, Craig Schulman, Lillias White, Rita Moreno and Michael Crawford. She has performed with the Westfield Symphony, the Rockford Symphony, the Greensboro Symphony and The Bowling Green Symphony. Rita has performed in St. Petersburg, Russia in the new musical, Take Flight, by Richard Maltby and David Shire. Her solo cabaret, Letting Go, played to rave reviews and is available on CD. Rita just completed her first studio CD, Wishing, which is available now. Rita is married to Broadway composer Neil Berg, and has a gorgeous seven-year-old son, Lucas David Berg. Carter Calvert Carter Calvert is best known for originating her role in the Tony nominated, It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues on Broadway. The New York Times wrote, “Carter Calvert effervesces: her voice echoes chimes in the night” and “Her smoldering grip on Fever is positively dangerous”. New York credits include the Broadway, Original Cast Album and touring productions of It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues. Off-Broadway she appeared in Forbidden Broadway and The Thing About Men at the Promenade Theatre. Ms. Calvert toured Europe in Smokey Joe’s Café, played Grizabella in the Broadway national tour of Cats. She appeared in the World Premiere of Forbidden Vegas in a role she originated and as the title role in Always, Patsy Cline opposite Emmy award winning actress, Sally Struthers. Lawrence Clayton Lawrence Clayton has appeared nationally as Jean Valjean in 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables. He also starred in the New York Premier of Jerry Springer the Opera at Carnegie Hall with Harvey Keitel and reprised the role at the Sydney Opera House. Broadway appearances include Bells Are Ringing; It Ain’t Nothin but the Blues, The Civil War, Once upon a Mattress, and Dreamgirls. Off Broadway includes, Crowns at Second Stage, (Audelco Award)
Saturn Returns and Romance in Hard Times at The Public Theater, and as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Paramount Theater at Madison Square Garden. On the small screen Lawrence has appeared in episodes of The Good Wife, The Big C, All My Children, Another World, As the World Turns, One Life to Live, Deadline, Law and Order: CI, and the made for TV movie Mary and Rhoda. He lent his voice to the Rankin-Bass animated Christmas special Santa Baby starring Vanessa Williams, Gregory Hines and Eartha Kitt. Recordings include Broadway cast albums of Bells Are Ringing, Once upon a Mattress and Adam Guettel’s Myths and Hymns. Chuck Wagner Performed on Broadway as Athos in The Three Musketeers, Rapunzel’s Prince in the original Broadway cast of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, Javert in Les Misèrables, Van Helsing in Dracula and as The Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (which he premiered at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre). Wagner originated the title roles in Frank Wildhorn’s Jekyll & Hyde and Svengali at Houston’s Alley Theatre and reprised his dual roles in Jekyll & Hyde in the post Broadway international tour. Me Kate. He sang the role of Sir Percival Blakeney in the original concept recording of Wildhorn’s The Scarlet Pimpernel. He is best known internationally for starring in the title role in the 1980’s science fiction TV series Automan. Other television appearances include General Hospital, The Dukes of Hazzard, Dynasty, Matlock, As the World Turns, and The Late Show with David Letterman. An avid Musical Theatre Historian, Wagner served as Visiting Artist in Residence at the University of West Florida in Pensacola and teaches Masterclasses throughout the United States. She is thrilled to be a part of the Neil Berg family once again this season! NEIL BERG, Composer & Lyricist Neil Berg is the composer/lyricist of the hit Off-Broadway musical The Prince and the Pauper, which ran for two years at the Lambs Theater in New York City. The New York Times raved “Prince and the Pauper [soars] on wings of theatrical fun.” Neil is currently the composer for the new Broadway-bound musical Grumpy Old Men, based on the Warner Brothers movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, which began its out of town tryout at the Royal Manitoba Theater Centre in Winnipeg in October 2011. Neil also composed the new musical Heidi, book by Julia Jordan and commissioned by Douglas Love and the Walden Family Theater. Heidi ran for over eighty performances in its regional premiere in Denver. His musical Hexed in the City played Off- Broadway at the Zipper Theater. Other commissioned works include Percy Penguin for the Penguin Repertory Theater (Joe Brancato, Artistic Director), Threads for the Helen Hayes Theater, in Nyack, NY. As a film composer, Neil recently scored, and was the Musical Supervisor for the 2013 released film, Once upon a Time in Brooklyn. Neil was also the composer/ music supervisor on the feature film Searching For Bobby D.He was the recipient of the 1995 Bistro Award for Best Musical for his show Asylum in the Night, a revue of Neil’s theater music. As a Producer, Neil is the creator and co-producer, along with his producing partner Adam Friedson, of Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway, which is now the number one Broadway touring concert in the United States, playing in over 120 cities in 2010/2011. As owner of Leftfield Productions, Inc., based in Nyack, NY, Neil has produced over a thousand Broadway concerts worldwide with such legends as Michael Crawford, Bernadette Peters, Ben Vereen, Betty Buckley, Rita Moreno, Donna McKechnie, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Liz Callaway, and current stars Mark Kudisch, Alice Ripley, Stephanie Block, Capathia Jenkins, Jeremy Jordan and many other greats. Neil was also the one of the lead Producers, and driving force of the recent acclaimed Off-Broadway revival of Maltby and Shire’s Closer Than Ever. Reviews were some of the strongest in the 2012-2013 season, and lead to a Nomination for Best Revival for the Off-Broadway Alliance Awards.
Most recently, Neil created and coproduced a brand new concert production in conjunction with Texas A&M entitled, Neil Berg’s The Phantoms of the Opera. Directed by Marc Kudisch, this production brought together seven Broadway Stars, a full orchestra, and a chorus of 200 to examine the musical history of the many adaptations of Gason Leroux’s The Phantom of Opera. In May of 2012, Neil was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his artistry and dedication to community service, including helping to raise over $15 million dollars for the homeless youth at Covenant House with his Broadway Concerts. He was also honored with the Distinguished Citizen’s Award, along with Academy Award Winning actress Ellen Burstyn, by The Rockland Family Shelter for his efforts on behalf of abused women. Neil was also heard on radio around the country with his jingle for Shock Coffee. Neil also toured the US with the rock band Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan and played on their past seven CDs as well as performed with them on the recent 100 Year Anniversary Tour for Harley Davidson. Neil is the proud co-owner, with John Asselta, of the SJR Theater Workshop, a theater camp for students in Montvale NJ, which instructs over 200 young actors/ singers a year. Modern Drummer Magazine: “Roger’s playing reveals an admirable combination of power, musical creativity and restraint.” The Barbados Advocate: “It would be unforgivable to end this review without mentioning the disciplined drumming skills of Roger Cohen, whose range and rhythm not only bring out the best in vocals, but provide a richly satisfying percussion component.” Danny Gottlieb: (Pat Metheny) “... one of the most original and musical solos I’ve heard in years!” Abraham Saenz – Bassist An amazing bassist of Peruvian decent, Abraham Saenz began his career in NY’s specialized high school for the arts (LaGuardia H.S. for the Performing Arts). He furthered his studies in schools like Harlem School of the Arts for jazz and Harbor Conservatory for Latin music in which Abraham was awarded full scholarships for. He began playing with local salsa bands at the age of 16. Eventually, at 17, Abraham joined Juan Carlos Formell’s changui quartet where Abraham began extensive studies of Cuban music. With only a couple of years’ experience 8

under his belt, he managed to earn a spot in the premiere salsa record label band, the RMM orchestra under the direction of Isidro Infante. (The RMM orchestra was to the Latin scene as the Funk Brothers were to Motown.) Being the youngest member of this band gave him the opportunity to learn from the great Isidro Infante and travel the world. With the RMM orchestra he collaborated in the Latin Grammy award winning concert for Best Salsa Performance, Celia and Friends: A Night Of Salsa. Abraham has graced the main stage at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre playing for Pablo Cabrera’s musical Quien Mato a Hector Lavoe? and Carmen Rivera’s La Lupe: My Life, My Destiny. He has recorded, performed, and collaborated with musical figures such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Alvaro Torres, Tito Nieves, DLG, Lisette Melendez, Isidro Infante, and many more. He has also performed in various festivals in the United States, Peru, Australia, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and in the Caribbean Islands, such as the Tri-C Jazz Festival, El Festival National del Callao, Kalalu Festival of St. Lucia, La Feria de Cali and the Bacardi Sydney Festival among others. Currently, Abraham can be seen as a member of such musical groups and artists as Jimmy Sabater Jr. y Los Salseros del Hudson, Kevin Ceballo, Groupo Caribe, and the world’s best charranga band, Orquesta Broadway, in some of the most famous venues in New York City.

Their children, Clara and Fritz, along with other children, anxiously await the arrival of one last guest the mysterious Drosselmeyer. His arrival seems ominous to the children at first, but their fears soon are dispelled as he passes out toys to one and all, and to entertain the adults, sets mechanical dolls into magical lifelike motion. He gives Clara the best present of all, a toy soldier nutcracker. All too soon the party comes to an end, Clara and Fritz are put to bed, as the guests and magical Drosselmeyer leave.
