URBAN COMMON LIVING Design Brief Location : Kongsi KL, Old Klang Road, Selangor Site Area : 10500 msq URBAN COMMON LIVING project; an architectural prototype aims to promote the idea of live, work and communal sharing and to be planned as housing cluster for around 200 deliberately diverse residents(toc). Residents share common facilities at cluster level and will have some facilities to be used by larger community. The Urban Common Living is a government’s initiative emphasizes urban sustainable development and People-oriented Cities. It is also seen as an alternative to the monotonous design proposed by the private sectors in housing market. It is an example for an independently managed cluster and will be built to a high standard of energy efficiency.


SITE CONTEXT Old Klang Road Location : Kongsi KL, Old Klang Road, Selangor Site Area : 10500 msq The proposed located at the Old Klang Road which surrounded by several high density condominium construction site, eg. Asset Kayamas Development group and also the Exism Mixed Development Group. The convinience of the traffic connection of the Old Klang Road had raised up the value of the surrounding property development and also benefit to the residents along the Old Klang Road. The proposed site consisted several warehouse initially. The future development intention and direction would also affect the residential area at the back of the proposed site, as the River of life project of the Klang River would possible to extend in to the local residential area which help to raised up the property value of the residential area around the proposed site.



Masterplanning Strategy

Masterplanning Strategy The main idea of the proposed masterplanning is to create a friendly environment to connect the local residential area and the future development around the proposed site, etc: River of Life, Exism Mixed Development. First, the proposed site would be opened for the visitor and the local residents easily to passby. Then, proposing a nodes which replace the old shoplots at the opposite of the proposed site. The proposed nodes would propobly for the public transportstation for Exism Mixed Development the neighbourhood. And also link the human activities to the River of Life development. The convinience of the public transport would be important gradually for the living quality in the future.

The local human density abd activities are largely distribute by other landmark and point of interest which made the proposed site neglected.

Design Development

The commercial zone and the busy Old Klang Road highway had segregated yhe relationship between the neighbourhood & the river of life project.

The land value had increased gradually, due to the high density development around the proposed site. The affordability of the low income residents would be affected.
