There has been one landmark product, event or sponsorship after another at Karrimor. Over 70 years of outstanding products are what inspires us to bring you even higher standards and better products. Charles and Mary Parsons, along with Grace Davies founded the Karrimor company in Lancashire and started producing cycle bags.
1948
Karrimor introduce weathertiteTM products, way ahead of their time.
1957
First climbing sacs produced in conjunction with the climbers of the day Jimmy Rostron and Dave Thomas.
1959
Karrimor starts work with Joe Brown and introduces the Joe Brown Rucsac.
1964
Karrimor starts a decade of domination of the UK market with the Alpiniste sac born of a partnership with Don Whillans.
1966
Karrimor introduce Karrimat®.

Introduction of the size adjustable back system for sacs make load carrying comfortable for everyone.

Karrimor receives a British Design award in the course of duty.
1997
Introduction of volume adjuster fit kits to the ksb footwear allow further refinement of footwear fit for better comfort and performance.

ADD introduced to ksb footwear to (again) improve the fit, function and performance of ksb’s.
2001
ksb’s diversify into sandals and approach footwear.
2007
Karrimor appoints Dougal Haston as technical advisor and the ‘Haston Alpiniste’ in purple becomes the most famous alpine sac ever.
Karrimor develop new X-Lite products; lighter weight yet without sacrificing performance or durability. Karrimor introduces Fine Moulding, a technology that increases durability of fabrics by up to 50% versus standard walking boot fabrics without sacrificing breathability.

Chris Bonnington’s Everest South West Face expedition is successful, fully equipped with Karrimor products. Junko Tabei of Japan becomes the first woman to climb Everest using a Karrimor pack frame sac.
Karrimor introduce updated Size Adjust system featuring new Direct Link technology.
1978
Peter Habeler achieves the first ascent of Everest without oxygen using Karrimor equipment. ks100e introduced, considered to be the worlds first waterproof texturised fabric.

footbed A biocide is added to all OrthoLite foams to fight against the presence of fungus, bacteria and odor.
Footbed is made with a open-cell polyurethane that retains 95% of its cushioning after the first year. Open-Cell foam also lets air pass through so that any water can evaporate and also helps to keep the foot cooler inside your shoes. OrthoLite insoles are 100% machine washable.
EVA Heel Cup to add comfort and support inside the shoe.

TM
Over 25 years ago, ThinsulateTM insulation was introduced as the original “warmth without bulk” product, but what makes ThinsulateTM Insulation so important to cold-weather footwear? Three words: thin, warm and light. A thin insulation is crucial in footwear for warmth, and there is simply no room for anything bulky. Thinsulate™ Insulation has nearly twice the warmth of foam, felt or pile and is one of the lightest synthetic insulations on the market. It is durable and compression resistant, even when worn for a long period of time it will still retain the pockets of air that are so important for keeping feet warm. Thinsulate™ Insulation also has the ability to retain its warmth when wet, absorbing less than 1% of its weight in water keeping feet warm even in damp conditions. The fibres of Thinsulate™ Insulations are fine, making them ideal for trapping insulating air and reflecting back the body’s radiant heat.

Walking boots and shoes where 2 / 3 season stiffness is required. Offers slightly lighter weight and overall more flex than the Original FrameflexTM.
High quality wicking mesh covers the foam and helps to move moisture, providing a larger surface area to aid drying time.
OrthoLite foam contains recycled rubber powder which allows everyone to do their share in helping our environment.

and breathable fabric. First introduced in 1948 and undergoes continual improvement in line with technological advancements to provide durable waterproofness and breathability. Footwear weathertite is a laminate used in a bootie construction and offers an excellent overall performance.

direct link technology Unlike existing adjustable back systems our patent pending direct link technology connects the pack and the back system closer together then ever before. The patent pending direct link technology utilises custom staves that are continuously linked to the pack body via our unique connectors meaning the scapular pad is permanently connected directly to the pack and therefore your load providing greater stability and closeness to the users back ultimately providing a superior carry.
SA - self adjust system the newly developed version of the proven SA back system has a single central adjustment system creating a simplified, smoother and quicker mode of adjustment whilst the pack is on the users back. SA - cam lock cam lock releases the back system to increase the back length. breathable central air channels provide greater breathability. bodycool airmesh with its high wicking and superior airflow the bodycool soft touch airmesh increase breathability and user comfort. SA - pull loops easy to reach and easy to find pull loops allows the back system to be effectively and accurately adjusted to the correct size whilst on the users back. flex flex is the new pivot - load is transferred through the hip fins via flexible acetal rods, providing great load transfer and maximum movement. hip fin structure the hooped flexible acetal rod structure allows for great load transfer to the hips whilst providing a softer more pliable and ultimately more comfortable hip fin.
