Kim Icenhower Hometown Heroes:

Acommunity is the most successful when it focuses on moral traditions and teachings for the benefit of future generations. Fort Bend County is blessed to have Kim Icenhower, a benevolent individual who volunteers her time to strengthening the ethical character of today’s youth.

Icenhower and her husband Scott, a retired geophysicist, moved to Sugar Land in 1984. They have two sons, Asher and Brian, and one grandson. Both sons are Eagle Scouts. Icenhower owns Icenhower Consulting where she is a consultant to non-profit and professional organizations. She has a degree in Journalism and is a Certified Professional Services Marketer and a Fellow with the Society of Marketing Professional Services.

Icenhower has volunteered with Fort Bend Cares since 2008. Through her volunteer work with Boy Scouts, she met Jim Rice and the late Bob McClendon, the founders of Fort Bend Cares. She volunteered on the Grants Committee at Fort Bend Cares for several years. “This organization targets disadvantaged youth in the county through grants to nonprofit organizations. I am very impressed with the vetting process they have developed over the years. Interviewing the non-profit organizations who have applied for grants was an incredible experience and reminded me that while this is a diverse and educated county, we have disadvantaged youth. Many come from broken homes or unemployed parents. These children need to know someone cares. Through communication and an awareness of each individual situation, the Grants Committee works diligently to make life a little easier for those that need it the most.”

All of the organizations, each in their own way, and all of the people Icenhower works with are dedicated to benefit the youth in Fort Bend County. Her involvement with the Boy Scouts is extensive. “I am an active Scouter and currently serve as National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) registration staff at the Sam Houston Area Council. I have been a scout volunteer in Thunder Wolf District, formerly the Tomahawk District, since 1993. I have served as pack committee chair, den leader, troop committee chair, unit commissioner, district committee member, district training team member, Cub Leader Pow Wow trainer, University of Scouting, and I Kim Icenhower. have also attended Philmont Training Center and completed Wood Badge training.”

Icenhower has been honored with the District Award of Merit, District Family of the Year and the Silver Beaver Awards.

Icenhower has also been involved with The Fort Bend Buyers Group since 2003. This is an organization that raises funds to support students at the Fort Bend County Fair. She became involved because of both of her sons were involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Fort Bend County Fair activities. She also volunteers at the Fort Bend County Fair.

Icenhower has served on various committees for many charities in Fort Bend County. “All my volunteer work involves children. I believe my efforts are my way to say ‘I care’ about my community and its future. When my kids were in school, I was a volunteer and served as the FFA Booster Club President at Clements High School. To watch students become engaged and follow through with commitments develops character and respect for the environment.”

Icenhower’s devotion working in the community has inspired others to volunteer their time to helping those in need. Skeeters to Host Pro Boxing Event at Constellation Field

The Sugar Land Skeeters will be hosting a set of professional boxing matches at Constellation Field on March 7th in partnership with Next Fight Up and Force Train Promotions. On the card for the event is Evan Holyfield, son of four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, and he will be appearing in just his third career bout, holding a 2-0 career pro record.

There will be a total of eight bouts, with the first occurring at 5 pm, and gates at Constellation Field will open at 4 pm. The official weigh-in for the fight will occur at 1 pm on March 6th in the Insperity Club at Constellation Field.

The main event for the night will feature Sugar Land’s Pablo Cruz vs. Eduardo Pereira Dos Reis in an eight-round featherweight match. The co-main event will feature Houston’s Raphael “Trouble” Igbokwe in a six-round middleweight fight against Dushane Crooks. The following fighters will also be on the card for the event: Holyfield, Christon Edwards, Joseph Rivera, D’Angelo Keyes, Maurenzo Smith, Kenneth Allen, Paisley Davis, David Pilarte, Rafael Medina, Gabriel Ocot, Christopher McCoy and Geovani Figueroa Nunez.
