GYMNASTICS CENTER FAMILES USING KIDZONE: Children may be left in Kid Zone only when parents participate in a Parent/Child class.

KIDZONE/YOUTH CENTER GUIDELINES: SECURITY:

Since we are not a licensed daycare, the maximum time allowed for a child to stay in the KidZone & the Youth Center is 2 ½ hours per day.

Parents/Guardians bringing children into our KidZone & the Youth Center-  must check-in and provide all required information.

Parents are required to remain on the YMCA property, and must be accessible in the event of an emergency.

Our philosophy is to reinforce good behavior through emphasis of the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. We use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior. Children are encouraged to resolve conflict in a  nonviolent manner, using words rather than action.

Staff will redirect child to a more appropriate activity, drawing attention away from the negative behavior.

If behavioral problems persist, staff may remove the child from the conflict and allow time for the child to calm down and refocus.

Children who exhibit continued behavioral problems may be restricted from future use of the KidZone & the Youth Center.

CLOTHING & DIAPERS:

The parent/guardian that brought the  child in is also expected to pick up the child. We will only make exceptions if the parent gives us written permission in advance letting us know who will be picking up their child. We may ask for  ID if there is a question concerning pick up.

BEHAVIOR:

If behavioral problems continue, staff may ask the parent to return to the KidZone & Gathering place area (or supervised play areas) to address the issues and may request for the child to be removed from the area for the remainder of the day.

Children must be fully covered on top and bottom at all times in the KidZone & Youth Center. Children may not be dressed in wet clothing or swimsuits, shoes must be worn at all times. In the winter, if a child is wearing boots, they must remain in the boots unless other footwear is provided. Babies must have outer clothing on over their diaper. This helps contain leaks if they occur. We recommend that you bring along a change of clothes for our youngest members. This will help prevent an unexpected trip home if they soil in their clothes. Babies feet must be covered.

The staff will ask parents to return and change a child if necessary. Children will not be left with wet or soiled diapers for any length of time. We do have a changing table inside the KidZone bathroom for member use.

FOOD & DRINK:

Only dry snacks (ie-dry cereal, crackers, cookies, pretzels, chips, fruit snacks, etc), veggie/fruit pouches, and beverages in spill proof containers (bottles, sippy cups, etc) are permitted in the KidZone & Youth Center.

Due to severe allergies, please avoid milk products (including cheese sticks, yogurt, etc), nuts/nut products, gum, fast food. Milk & formula is welcome on the infant side only.

Staff is restricted by law from  Please, no popcorn or marshmallows changing diapers in the KidZone. due to chocking hazards. Please change your child’s diaper prior to bringing them into the KidZone TOYS & ELECTRONICS: area.  We ask that you leave all personal toys at home.

NO electronic of any type are permitted in the KZ or YC including cell phones.
